I recently started my cat care with village west last year after terminating a long time relationship with another vet in the city.  This time my male 13yr old was having some symptoms that lead me to believe he was either having a kidney issue flare up or an IBS flare up.  I called that morning and they were able to squezze me in that early afternoon with Dr. Krushner.  She is new at Village West and previously I had worked with Dr. Silverman.  They got me into a room, we then reviewed the symptoms, checked for urine flow then x-rayed the abdomen.  It was determined that my boy was severely constipated, he then stayed the rest of the day and was treated with an enema.  I got a call a few hours later letting me know his progress and that I could pick him up that evening.  Dr. Krushner went over his treatment and options on how to prevent this in the future.  I received multiple follow up phone calls over the next week about how my guy was doing.  Overall I have been happy with Village West, the pricing is okay, I would put them in the upper mid range of vet fees.

It was a pleasant experience. He is very knowledgeable. He cares about the animals. He answers all of our questions as fast as he can and tries to solve the problem without breaking the bank. He's staff is also very friendly. They are animal lovers. Their price was a little expensive.

We didn't realize our cat was having an allergic reaction so he was scratching himself bloody and they gave him shots and also talked about how to deal with the allergy. There was a second injection but it cleared up pretty much two or three days and he was back to his old self again and has not had a recurrence. The price was not expensive. It's a small operation, so he's very responsive, thinks about the pets a lot and spends time talking to me to understand what kind of environment my cat was in and correctly diagnosed the problem.

We noticed that our cat was having trouble urinating and was licking himself frequently. Knowing that this can be a serious problem, we wanted to get him in to see a doctor right away. Village West was nearby and was able to get him in the same morning. Dr. Silverman was able to clear the blockage and kept him the rest of the day for observation, sending him home that evening. Unfortunately, by the next morning the blockage had recurred. We had to take kitty back in and they had to insert a catheter and keep him for several nights, treating him with special food and fluids to try to clear up both an infection and crystals in his urine.

Dr. Silverman and his assistants, Meghan and Joe, are incredibly caring and treated our cat with love (even though he hissed at them constantly from behind his cage), and never once made us feel silly for being distraught about the situation. They kept us informed about his condition and let us visit him several times a day, even after hours over a holiday weekend. Dr. Silverman also encouraged us to ask questions and to email him if anything came up. Our little guy seems to be doing fine now, and we've since moved out of the neighborhood but we'll continue to go to Village West Vet.
