Value Garage Builders finished my new garage in only a week. They replaced a tiny one car, dilapidated old garage with a gorgeous two car garage ... My experience working with Mike, (the owner of the company), was very straight forward, honest, and positive. Mike was quick to come out and give me a quote, he did not price gouge me, like the other companies tried to, his price was very affordable, Mike was in touch throughout the entire process. He truly cared about delivering a beautiful, finished product. Mike’s entire crew were very skilled, efficient, and pleasant to deal with. ‘I love my new garage’ I highly recommend Value Garage Builders with no hesitation. Shout out to Eric! The project went great. Mike did everything we agreed upon to keep me happy! His crews were courteous, fast, and did a great job. Once the demolition was done and concrete was poured (we had the bad luck of starting in the thick of the spring rain), it was the talk of the neighborhood how fast my garage went up! I'm happy with the end product!

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate on work I needed done on my garage. My appointment was for a Sunday at 800am. Well, the gentleman ( I didn't get his name) never showed up nor did he call to inform me he wasn't coming.

Value Garage Builders just finished my new garage last week. It replaced a tiny, dilapidated old garage that was on its last leg... My experience working with Mike, the owner, was nothing but positive. Mike was quick to come out and give me a quote, taking care to pay attention to all of the extras I needed -- the garage will function as my woodshop, so I needed (among other things) a more finished interior with loft storage, more lighting and electricity than are typical in a garage, and some natural light that would still leave room to hang tools on the wall (hence the unusual use of transom windows). I had done my homework and knew the price Mike quoted was fair. I also appreciate working with a smaller business. Mike was in touch throughout the process. It was obvious he cared about delivering a good finished product. The crews Mike employed to demolish the old garage, to pour concrete, and then to put up the garage and do the electrical work were pleasant to deal with. More importantly, they were skilled and efficient. The only delays in construction were weather related. I recommend Value Garage Builders with no hesitation or reservation. If this garage ever burns down, I'll call Mike to have it rebuilt!

I submitted a quote request through AL, then through the company website, but didn't hear back, so called. He said that he doesn't do work outside of Chicago city limits. That's fair and I do need a company that has experience with Evanston's rather strict permitting requirements. I don't like giving a lower grade for only trying to get in touch with them since the work they do could still be very good. (I would have left the overall grade blank if the form would allow it.) But the company should not take AL or website requests for quotes if they are not prepared to respond. Furthermore, if the company does indeed not do work outside of Chicago, then that information should really be on their website and on their AL listing so that suburban customers will know not to contact them. The reason I didn't just call to begin with is that I had a complicated situation that was hard to describe on the phone.

Project went well and in a timely manner. Company explained all steps of the process and was good at communication throughout.

Mike and his crew made this process extremely seamless and headache free from start to finish. I highly recommend VGB. I've gotten quotes from Danley's, Galaxy & others (can't recall names) and Mike's fair price was the best and he worked hard to accommodate our needs.

Excellent. Mike was very helpful and always available to answer any questions I had regarding the build. He also was accommodating to the several changes i made to the original plan. Mike was also able to accommodate the timeline that I needed for the garage to be built. It was only 30 days from the time I signed the contract to the time the garage was completed.

Excellent Thanks to Mike, having my garage rebuilt was a lot easier than I was expecting it to be. Mike has put together a great team of people to build garages. Everyone did an excellent job. Mike is really great at getting back to you and also at checking in at the work scene. It was quite wonderful the way my garage was put up in such a timely manner. Any concerns were always addressed and my mind was put at ease.

It went very well. Mike Hill, was consistently available with information. He routinely checked the work and was precise about getting things right. There were 4 crews. They were punctual, polite and left the work area clean. Everything was well done.

My garage was a victim of a hit and run.  I never realized how much I depended on the use of my garage . 
The crew showed up on time, were very professional and assured me they had done repairs of this nature and would have everything taken care of in 1 day, although this was a job that was originally supposed to take 2 days the crew stayed from 9a.m. until 8:30 p.m. to complete everything. They were very patient with me as I asked questions and explained every step. 
Clean up was done as they went along, so at the end of the job there was nothing left to be done.

Not only did they do a excellent job, they even repaired another issue  I was having that was unrelated to this incident.
At the end of the day I had a better garage than before the accident.

I would highly recommend them to anyone needing garage repair.

A+++  Mike and his team were the highlight of our renovation projects.  They are knowledgeable and professional in all their work and provide a high quality garage.  They not only showed up on time, but always kept the work site clean.  Mike was a hands on throughout the process and any time we had a question, he was just a phone call away.  Value Garage provided a budget and a timeline.  They stayed within the budget and delivered on time.  We have engaged a myriad of contractors over the years from Oak Park and Lincoln Park to Lakeview and Bucktown, and I can say without reservation that these are professionals that you can trust to get the job done right.

The process was terrible. The contractor has bad communication skills and was not organized. They even caused damage to my neighbor's property. The new garage is fine but the process was a hassle. It was not a good experience because I was forced to take time out of my schedule to work with him.

Purchased a 3-flat last year that had a detached garage in complete disrepair. First project after closing was replacing it. I contacted the big name companies in Chicago as well as Mike. Mike was the least "salesman" of them all (I mean that as a compliment) and his price was by far the most reasonable. We had to have 1 wall built as a fire-proof wall because we were building so close to the lot line (steel studs and drywall, but the cost was still affordable.) With the money saved, we were able to add a party door in the back and upgrade the overhead doors to insulated doors. Start to finish, the entire project took only 3 weeks...that included demoing the old garage and pad, laying a new concrete pad, building the garage, laying a new sidewalk, and installing a new alley gate. (we separately contracted the sidewalk and alley gate with Mike's concrete subcontractor, which they were still able to do that within that 3 week period!) Our tenants and neighbors were in Aw at how fast everything happened. If I had one negative it would be his attention to the small details. We had a couple special requests (specific service door swing, party door size, etc...) both were overlooked on construction day however Mike made them right once I made him aware. Overall, I had a really great experience with Mike and would recommend him to others.

Mike from Value Garage did an excellent job of managing the trades and insuring the entire job went off without a hiccup.  He committed to me that he would have the work completed before it was winter and actually finished a week ahead of time.  I am an architect, the work was completed to specification and at a very high level.  They even setup the garage door openers to work prior to leaving the project.  The electricians also did a extremely proficient job and I rate the overall work and customer experience as excellent.  If your building a garage I would definitely use these guys again.

Was completed within 72hrs by a wonderful team of contractors and Mike personally met with me to discuss options and the best course of action to take. The garage was very damaged by a neighbor`s car reversing into it and city of chicago snow plows this past winter.

Mike did a pretty good job on our garage. He came in with the lowest number but once we talked modifications he was in the middle of the pack. I ended up going with him anyways because I liked his approach at the beginning. Keep in mind with Mike that he subs everything out. Overall his subs are good with the exception of his concrete guys. I came home to them driving their bobcat over my catch basin. Unfortunately for me, I was the one who ended up having to push the issue with Mike as the concrete guys denied it.
