Two Men and a Truck

It was discovered that the movers hadn?t unpacked our tv and a mirror. We moved on a Saturday and didn?t receive the items until 4 days later after talking with many customer service people. One worker stated he would deliver the items at 5:15 Monday when I?d be off of work. He never showed, no phone call, nothing. The next day I called and no one answered or returned my calls. My husband then had to take time out of his work day to go into their office and things got very argumentative. I received a call after this and scheduled to have it delivered that day. It was delivered this time. I was told the operations manager was new and wasn?t aware that this problem had been going on. Hopefully they get things turned around but I will not use or refer them to anyone.

PREDATORY BUSINESS PRACTICES! 1. "Insurance" Coverage was sold to me for $50 which supposedly covers up to $10,000 "in valuation". Before the move began, I was offered this $50 "coverage" and then was required to sign a waiver of liability that waives Two Men and a Truck from all liability for damages of furniture etc. I was told a liability waiver must be signed in order for the move to happen and was under time pressure because the movers showed up late to the move (9:15 when they were supposed to arrive between 8-9 AM). I had a freight elevator reservation from 9-11 AM and had little time to scrutinize each and every detail of the $50 coverage I bought. It was not explained to me that the $50 in fact cannot be used to cover furniture damages since I proceeded to sign the liability waiver. My understanding was that the coverage was what I would use to file any claims etc. for broken items. 2. Following the move, I saw that my couch seemed to be bending in an odd manner. I proceeded to check the frame and saw that the couch had been broken in several places. During the move, the two movers definitely had forced the couch into the freight elevator in an awkward angle resulting in the frame fracture (I wish I would've filmed this because I knew this was such a poor method of moving furniture into the elevator). I called Two Men and a Truck to file a claim and was told that because I waived them of all liability, I would not be able to apply the coverage I had purchased and have my couch repaired or replaced. They also insinuated that I myself could have caused the damage upon moving the furniture into the storage unit which is completely ridiculous because I moved each individual portion of the sofa myself with my partner and we were incredibly careful. This is the nicest piece of furniture I've ever owned and would never move it in such a way that could lead to damage. I thought I could rely on Two Men and a Truck to have the same diligence and carefulness to be able to move a couch that 1) is incredibly light and 2) easy to move because it consists of three single pieces instead of a large and heavy 100+ inch couch. 3. Separate but related - the two movers were unprofessional and did not know what they were doing. The order and logic in which they moved my furniture was inefficient and dangerous. They dropped my mattress and bed frame pieces several times and almost hit someone in the atrium of my apartment floor because of the way they stacked the bed frame pieces in the elevator. I began moving pieces of my own furniture because I became nervous at much they were stuffing into the elevators and how they were stacking pieces of furniture on the dollies they used. 4. The only thing they said they could do was refund me the $50 coverage. I will be taking them to small claims court in order to have them honor the coverage they sold to me for $50 which was said to have covered up to $10,000 dollars in valuation. TO ANYONE CONSIDERING TWO MEN AND A TRUCK - DO NOT HIRE THEM. THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE MISLEADING AND THEY DO NOT CARE AT ALL ABOUT YOUR FURNITURE OR YOU AS A CUSTOMER.

Worst movers i’ve ever hired. Guy’s name was Isaac, don’t know the other guy’s name but it was his first day on the job apparently. Guy #2 did very little- he said he was reserving his energy standing around as I was lifting boxes. First guy insisted on boxes first, big furniture later- and some of our things are ruined because of his stupid logic. They had no regard for high quality things. We got so p***** we starting yelling at them- they just left when they were 75% done. Luckily we checked the truck before they left because they still had a few things in their truck. I would never hire these guys again, even if they paid me to move my stuff. I ended doing ~80% of the boxes myself because of their con artist ways of being purposefully inefficient which racks up more time (and if you don’t pay the additional hours in real-time, they threaten to stop working which they suggested it would mean them driving away with our stuff. We are very angry how our stuff was treated.

My $2,000 room and board couch was damaged in the moving process. I had purchased insurance- the expectation that it would cover 6k worth of damage. Unfortunately, my couch was ripped and the cost of new fabric and reupholstery was deemed more expensive than the value of my couch. I now need to reupholster myself or purchase a new sofa. Its been 3 months and the claims process is still not complete. When I am able to get a hold of the Chicago claims rep (Elizabeth) I was given a different outcome/monetary amount each time. I'm now being told I will get a pay out of $960- which does not cover the cost of repair or replacement of my couch. This move ended up costing me double- as I now have to purchase a new couch- as I was only reimbursed 40% of its value. I do not recommend their services. They have very suspicious insurance practices and will not replace your precious items when damaged.

I would really have liked to have provided a good review of this Company but unfortunately I cannot. Everything started off well, the estimate was reasonable and Donna the manager I was working with was very responsive. When it came to the move the guys were overall pretty good however despite marking on the boxes where they should go in the new house those instruction were generally ignored and the boxes ended up everywhere. Also, despite updating the moving estimate days before the move to be more accurate, they somehow couldn't fit everything in the truck and had to come back the next day (at an additional charge of course). These aren't even my biggest issue with this company. My biggest problem is that they DESTROYED MY 75" SAMSUNG 4K TV AND REFUSE TO REIMBURSEME FOR IT!!!! By way of background when the woman called me to confirm my appointment she asked if I had any questions. I specifically asked her if they were able to pack my large TV. She said no problem they would have a box. I told her it was 75" and she said no problem the box extends. When they got here the TV was on the wall, was on and was working perfectly. I also mentioned to the supervisor that I bought some TV Styrofoam pads to use for the box to protect the TV. These are specifically designed for TV packing to prevent damage. Despite all of this how did they pack the TV you ask? With just a moving blanket taped around it and no box! Needless to say the TV was damaged and is completely unusable. I tried to contact the supervisor about the damage and they tried to claim they are not liable for the value of the TV, just for $.30 per pound of the damaged item. As this TV is light that would mean about $27 total, on a $1,200 TV! To top it off they told me I needed to pay for the charge for the 2nd day move before they would even discuss my claim, what a joke. I'm forced to now file legal action against them for damages so don't end up in a position like me, find a more reputable mover. Particularly if you are moving anything of value.

Great, had 4 days to find a mover and Two Men and a Truck responded first to my request for a quote on Monday morning. They moved her on Wednesday. Everything went as planned. The 2 guys were quick, clean and very polite. Great job!

The worst experience I have ever had with any company. Packers arrived late and without tape or enough boxes. After 9 hours only 75% completed. We were told extra help would arrive with movers in the morning. No help arrived and the 2 movers wasted time and finally moved around 65% of our stuff to the new place, because we were running out of time for the elevator. They took 2 hours, they say, to go 30 miles. Many items of furniture were damaged, but the worst was when we asked were our dining room table was they said it was never on the truck. We went down to the truck and it was empty, but we discovered our table dragged out onto the street destroyed, this is on the condo's surveillance video. This attempt to deceive us is criminal. Two Men and a Truck has made no effort to make this right. They low ball quotes and work slowly to run up the hourly charges, but the actions of their employees were beyond the pale. The companies lack of response only leads us to conclude that they condone incompetence and dishonesty on the part of their employees.

I had to move very quickly and they helped get me out. They kept calling and keeping me informed. I have used them a lot.

Day 1, nobody showed. After our "window" was over, I called to check on where my guys were, and the dispatch said he'd check and call me back. 30 minutes later, I called again. He then told me they were about 2 hours out, but he would get another crew ASAP. I waited another 40 minutes for a call back, which never came. I called again and got voicemails. I called several more times and finally got through to someone to said they'd find the dispatch guy and call me. I waited another 30 minutes and nobody called. I called the office again and spoke with someone who booked me for the following day at a discounted rate. The next day, the guys called ahead of time, showed up 10 minutes early, moved at a decent speed, and got everything safely into the new space (except for scratching our fridge). The dispatch from the previous day did not communicate the discounted price to that day's guys, which meant I had to call and speak with a few people. I got a call a few days later making sure everything with the new move went fine. Two weeks have passed and I noticed that the billing issue never got taken care of. I was charged full price. Hopefully this will get taken care of. If you get them on a good day, they are good and their prices were very fair. However, it seems like management is a bit of a mess.

It was very short. As a matter of fact, the complaint that I had was that it was not possible to get anything shorter or smaller than a three-hour window, try to pay for a three-hour window and it only took about an hour. I knew that that was probably the case. Their minimum was three hours. I was happy with them. I had used this organization to do a whole house move about two years ago. So, that is why I went back to them. They have moved my house and I was happy with them. I checked a few other things and they were going to have to bring the stuff up a flight of stairs in a big building. So, it was worth it to me to pay the extra money and know that they were not going to injure themselves and they were going to be able to do this. They were professional. I would use them again. I would try to figure out the thing about the money, but if I move my whole house again, I would use them again.

They've very reliable, show up on-time and offer reasonable pricing. There was a dining room glass table top that was broken and they were very good about responding to that issue. I did not buy the extra insurance with them so they credited me $200 towards the cost of the move, which was more than I expected. I am very pleased with their service, have used them four different times in the past three years and didn't even think of calling anyone else.

They were concerned they were going to be late so they sent two trucks and two crews of 2-3 men each. One of the crews took the load that was in the opposite direction than the other deliveries. They went way above our expectations. I find them extremely cooperative. They do exactly what they say they will do and at the price estimated.

They were very professional and even answered questions I had about insurance. They went straight to work and got it done in the estimated time of 4 hours - so the quote worked out great. They were great about being mindful of my cats making sure they did not get outside.

Absolutely the worst company I’ve ever done business with.
End of month move they rented a short
truck, all of their accounted for, and
came with unprofessional people. Left about 20% of my belongings in house and
told me **** ***. Move took over twice as long as the move in, which also had
serious packing involved. They do not respond to complaints without
client initiating file at BBB. Bought
extra insurance for damage and after speaking with the man who sold it to me
and being told no problem send pictures it all of a sudden had a time limit.

The first move went well; quick, professional, minimal damage to floors and walls and took about the estimated time. I was really impressed and asked to have the same crew to complete the move the following week. I think this made a lot of sense since they knew both my places, travel routes etc. Two Men and a Truck apparently did not agree since they sent out a different crew. This move lasted from about 9 am until after 10 pm. I do have heavy items and the stairs are narrow, but the construction on my place is about 7 years old - homes have been built like this for the past decade of so, so no surprises, I would think, and I did hire professional movers.

The place I moved out of suffered many gouges in walls, baseboards and ceilings (which I did have repaired). The floors were scratched in a few places but not too badly. In the new place, however, my brand new hardwood floors are horribly gouged and scarred in several places - hard to fix unless I move out again. The walls and ceilings also received scratches, scrapes and gouges. I do expect some of this to happen so I was prepared to hire someone to fix, fill and repaint in spots, but there were many. The floors will have to remain as a reminder of this horrible move and the foolishness of a staff who did not see the sense in using the same crew twice.
I would never use this company again. I did get a dialogue going - I was planning on emailing pictures of the damage but there were just too many. I am really disheartened by the damage to the flooring. The company offered compensation of $150 (I spent over $600 repairing the walls, baseboards and ceiling damage alone). Supposedly they sent out a check but that was weeks ago, and, frankly, I don't expect to receive it. I feel their response was one of disinterest and and quot;who caresand quot;. Please beware.

They did a good job. They were very polite and I was happy with the service.

They are very punctual, they get to you on time, and they do a complete job. I think their price is pretty reasonable but they could make it a little bit better.
