I used Tomahawk to refinish my moms hardwood floors while she was in the nursing home. Prior to my mom coming home, my family suggested I remove the threasholds so my 90 year old mom don't trip over them, something that Jason should have done when refinishing the floors. When I removed them, I noticed the floor was not refinished under them. Also in addition the quarter round was never pulled up so that they entire floor could be finished. You could see when you get close to the quarter round part of the floor that it is black. I called Jason to let him know that I need to have the threashold part of the floor refinished because we pulled it up and it looks like crap being black between the rooms. Jason said he was quite busy and didn't know when he could come out. After thinking about his response, I called him a week later and left a voicemail for him as well as a text requesting that he put me on his busy schedule to finish the job properly. He has not returned either the call or text. I am very disappointed that he will not return phone calls or texts. I understand vendors can get busy, but as a paying customer that did not get the job done right, I would think they would want to stand by the guarantee. I will now have to pay to get someone else to finish the job that I paid Jason at Tomahawk for, something my 90 year old mom on a fixed income should not have to do.
I regret not using Adam from Elm Floor. I used Elm Floor years ago. Elm Floor pulled up all quarter round and threasholds and refinished the entrie floor from wall to wall. There was nothing hidden that was not refinished. I only used Tomahawk because my boyfriend used them and he liked them. My deciding factor was that he was able to put me on the schedule quicker than Adam. When Jason and I talked, he pumped up how good his company was and that his quality was better than Elm and that Adam from Elm Floors no longer does his own work and that it is substandard. It raised red flags with me that someone would bad mouth another vendor and pump thierselves and I didn't like it and defended Adams's company (Elm Floor)) based on my experience in hiring them in the past. Having used both companies, Elm Floor surpasses Tomahawk hands down. In addition to Elm Floors pulling everything up (quarter rounds and threasholds) before sanding, after only 2 coats of semi gloss poly, my floor shined beautifully. Tomahawk did 4 coats of which I paid extra for the 4th and the floor does not shine nearly as much, still looks a little dullish!
If you are looking for a good company to refinish floors, use Adam from Elm, he will not disappoint and he has many more years of experience.
