Your garden will be designed by an award winning Master Gardener. Maureen Taylor has a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design. She is a board member of the Landscape Design Associates and an active member of Midwest Ecological Landscapers Association and Illinois Landscape Contractors Association. Maureen is a proud community gardener and has started several community gardens the Old Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago where she lives. In 2007 she won first place in the prestigious Mayor Daley's Landscape Award for her own backyard. One of her community gardens won second place. I found out about this business through several local neighborhood chat groups. I have had nothing but the best rapport, support, design and install from Maureen and her team. They undertook a huge front and back yard project. We completed relandscaped the front of my 115 year old bungalow with a lush perennial garden (and added in some of my mature plants from elsewhere on the property). We carved out two huge new beds and they are chock full of plants I love. We did a complete gut of my hard scape in the rear yard, created a beautiful walkway and patio for my new pergola and a second for my dining table and relandscaped the entire backyard and expanded a huge sun loving perennial bed and added trees and some landscape lighting and a shade bed too. Simply stunning!

We are in love with our new patio. We were amazed at the high level of craftsmanship and extensive effort required to execute the design. These aren’t just guys laying pavers, they are truly patio artists. And they worked around the landscaping with the care of a gardener. I hired Maureen for a consultation as to what to do with my garden, which I have neglected over the past couple of years and was looking to rejuvenate. She provided some very helpful infrastructure recommendations, and quickly roughed out a patio design for me to replace the old and decrepit patio I had at the time). I then hired Taylor Made to uninstall my old patio and install a beautiful blue stone patio created from recycled stones; this proved to be a very cost-effective solution for me. The result is gorgeous, and the two men who installed it were professional and very accommodating. I would definitely hire Maureen and Taylor Made again and would recommend them to anyone.

Maureen was, as usual, very prompt in responding to our request for a late Fall landscaping job. We had completed a backyard addition which had left us with a mud pit in the center of the yard and a perimeter with old plantings. Maureen discussed our wants and desires for the yard and then completed a newly designed space. Her team promptly and efficiently completed the work in our yard. We will have her back this Spring for a review of the front yard which needs an upgrade.

I live out of state from the project. I gave Maureen a limited 2 day period of time I would be in town and she worked with me on my schedule and showed up with the landscaper to meet with me and discuss what was to be done. I had a quote within a day of our meeting. It was a small job but made huge improvement to both the front and back yard. Work started within a week and was done promptly until completion. One piece of the brick work came loose and was repaired the next day. I was very satisfied with the response time and the quality of the work.

My front yard was shapeless. The grass was patchy in parts and full of weeds. Different kinds of flowers, trees and shrubs were planted sporadically. Now, instead of grass I have beautiful brown mulch surrounded by carefully selected plants and flowers and stepping stones in the middle. I'm not worried about whether they are planted in the right or wrong (sunny or shady) spots. Only one week has passed; the new plants have not rooted completely, and there are no flowers, yet my neighbors have already started complimenting on my front yard. I'm sure that by the end of the summer, my front yard would be the best in the neighborhood.

Maureen was awesome and we were in agreement with the way things should look and function. The wall was built by one of her subs and we had a few difficulties with communication so there were a few glitches. The subs were a little confused about the height the wall so had to come back to make it higher. They finished it just as it started getting cold and wet. The wall is gorgeous and I love it but it cracked in several places within the first month likely due to the water behind it. The weather changed after that and we were unable to repair it until spring. I am sure Maureen will make it right but the cracks are pretty big so it is a bit worrisome. I gave them a good instead of an excellent only because of the miscommunication with the sub. I think the language barrier was an issue, not workmanship but it made the work harder for all of us. Again, the wall is exactly what I wanted and enhances the look of the house so much I am still very happy. If the cracks are repaired and stay that way I will give this effort an excellent because I am happy overall. Maureen was easy to work with and patient and I was very happy with her.

I liked the design, so I was not going to mention the weeds in the back--I thought I would deal with this area next year. So I was quite surprised when my invoice was increased by $405 from the agreed upon amount, because there was an error in measuring the amount of sod required. Isn't being able to measure correctly part of the job of being a landscape designer? I sent a picture of the weeds in the back of the house (the area that was supposed to be sodded), and here is Maureen's reply: "What do you expect me to do about the weed patch that you sent a picture of? You already got more sod than you paid for." And how about this statement: "I should have had Federico stop the sod at the original number of square feet". This shows a profound lack of professionalism. Adding on to the original invoice, claiming a "measuring error" seems like a shady bait and switch approach to me. I will add that when I mentioned that I was surprised by this attitude, as most of the reviews on Angie's List are quite good, she was out to my house the next morning to remove some dead branches from my new bushes.

"When I visit the site of a potential new client I am taking in all kinds of information. Existing structures (house garages, sheds) patios, walkways, yard grading, existing trees, shrubs, perennials. I also assess the general condition of the lawn (is it salvageable or does it need to be replaced?), make note of the sun/shade situation. I also take measurements of the property. I do sketching right on site. I take pictures. Lots of pictures so that I can refer to these when I am sitting down at my drawing table later and put pen to paper. After these things are completed, *then* I take another look at the property from a "landscape designer's perspective" has made . Where should the new walkway and patio be located? Where to put the new tree(s)? What perennials will work in this yard? Is privacy an issue that needs to be addressed? To accuse me of "Adding on to the original invoice, claiming a "measuring error" seems like a shady bait and switch approach to me..." is really quite unfair. I made an honest mistake in my measurement which resulted in an additional number of square feet of sod needed to complete the project. In hind-site. I should have notified the homeowner of the additional sod needed and the cost involved before doing it, but it was a decision I made on the spot when my sod man pointed out my measurment error and to be honest, I didn't think she'd object to the additional $405.00 to finish the project. When she objected to the additional charge, I immediately deducted the fee from her invoice. But to be then accused of "...shady bait and switch..." after giving her the credit seems quite harsh. It was an honest measuring mistake not "bait and switch". I'm human after all. I made a mistake in measuring and I ultimately took the loss."

Working with Maureen was a great experience. We filled out the online form on their website and she responded the next day. After meeting in person at our house and discussing our options, we received the proposal detailing all work to be performed. Scheduling was convenient and Federico and his crew were on time and completed the work in one day. They removed all old material and cleaned everything else up. We were able to enjoy the patio that evening! I would recommend Taylor Made Landscape to anyone looking for hardscape installation.

The whole experience was fantastic. We had a general idea of what we wanted when we contacted Taylor Made, but ended up changing our focus multiple times as we learned more about the process and options. Maureen was a trusted guide throughout the process, and was cognizant of our budget and overall vision. After an initial, in depth interview, Maureen provided renderings of both yards that really captured what we had in mind. From there, we tweaked the plan a few times based on budgetary and aesthetic considerations, and Maureen was able to adjust the plan seamlessly on the fly. Once we decided on a plan, scheduling and installation went as planned- hardscape and pergola install first, then the main planting. Communication was clear and timely, and the follow up has been good as well. The result is exactly what we hoped for- Maureen and her team clearly love what they do, and it shows. Highly recommended!

Maureen came out for an appointment and walked us through some design options, we reviewed stones to use and agreed on a timeframe. Be prepared to make decisions because Maureen has plenty of options to choose from based on her experience. She's not pushy at all, just excited to see your project come together. Overall a pleasure to work with and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the result. So looking forward to spring now that we have a fresh, clean slate of an awesome patio to work with. Took a while to get started, but it was right in the middle of summer which I'm sure is a very busy time. Weather wasn't cooperating either.
Once they got started it went very smoothly. I'm so happy with the results. I'll definitely use them again in the future. Probably ask them to do some touchup in the spring.

Our experience with Maureen was excellent from start to finish. She responded to my initial call in a very timely manner and came out to our house 2 or 3 times to discuss the details of our project. We are new homeowners who needed to do a complete overhaul of our back hard. We are novice gardeners with young children. We wanted someone who could work within a budget and offer practical, low-maintenance suggestions. Maureen more than met these requirements and we decided to create a large patio with brick pavers and re-do the wood stairs to our back door and add a small landing/deck.
Maureen went out of her way to make sure that our project was completed prior to the birth of our youngest son in early June of 2015. She understood that we weren't going to have time to work on the project after the baby's arrival and went above and beyond what we expected and got the job done in advance of our internal "due date."
We were very impressed with the quality of the work done by Frederico, who handled the pavers, and Don, who handled the deck work. The project went smoothly and we've enjoyed our beautiful yard all summer long.
Maureen went out of her way to make sure that our project was completed prior to the birth of our youngest son in early June of 2015. She understood that we weren't going to have time to work on the project after the baby's arrival and went above and beyond what we expected and got the job done in advance of our internal "due date."

Our experience with Taylor Made was phenomenal from start to finish! My husband and I, have completely different tastes in decorating, and this even extends out into the yard. Needless to say, we had different ideas on how we wanted the front of our house to look. Maureen was attentive, listened to both of our wants, and was able to blend our two separate visions into one fantastic look for our yard. It is a perfect blend of both of us, and we couldn't be more pleased with her tailored, creative, and unique, design.
Our neighbors have been relentless in their compliments, and we have gone from having the ugliest front yard on the block, to having the most envied one!
The hardscaping was done, quickly, cleanly, and professionally, Federico and the rest of the crew were very nice, and very thorough and detail oriented. They also were able to take care of a few issues that were not foreseen in our original quote at a reasonable rate for us. Great guys!
The softscaping is beautiful and reflects not only both of our tastes, but balances nicely with the color of the house, the hardscaping, and although unique in design is in step with the neighborhood. We were left detailed care instructions and our plants and sod are already filling in nicely.
