Skyway Remodeling

Richard should lose his plumbing license. He built a bathroom in our basement and violated every possible plumbing code. His gross negligence resulted in the city sewer backing up and flooding our newly finished basement with sewage. He connected the fixtures to each other, built and illegal airlock vent that terminated inside an internal wall, the pipe fittings were too small, he drilled into the clay piping instead of connecting directly to the sewer stack, and worst of all, he didn’t connect the fixtures to our existing ejector pump. The city sewer backed up and flooded out of the toilet and tub that Richard installed. He caused 60k of damage. After 3 months and the involvement of 4 insurance companies, we won the insurance claim against Skyway Remodeling. We have had to bring in a new team to rip up and redo literally everything that Richard did. On top of all this, Richard was very creepy and made me quite uncomfortable. He couldn’t finish a sentence without touching me. I warn past clients to have any work Richard did inspected. (We have abundant proof of all of this from multiple different professionals, including a video recorded inspection inside the pipes.)

Very happy with the results. Dave was easy to talk to at the beginning to get the scope of the project figured out and costs established. His associate Richard did a good job spearheading the work for the project itself, which was at 2 different locations. They arrived on time and were generally good at communicating, which is oftentimes hard to find in this industry. The bathroom remodel looks excellent and I am very happy with the new clean look! And the tile in the kitchen looks very good and they were able to do that very quickly. 2 slight negatives were the color of grout used in the second bathroom was not quite perfect. Though I had picked it myself, I would have done that differently. Second, the worksite in the small apartment project got a little "dusty" with all the tile work and I will have to go back and clean up a little bit of dust and splash on tile floor, but these are minor things. Overall they did a great job keeping things neat and tidy. Richard also was helpful and swapped out some fixtures that ended up not working out at the end of the project so that was a relief. Overall highly recommended!

It went very smoothly. I would recommend this company to anyone needing work done in their home. Richard was very easy to work with. Richard and his co-worker are pleasant, punctual and certainly do an excellent job. I have had many compliments on the bathroom remodel.

Skyway remodeling is fantastic and I wish we had found them sooner! Dave was incredibly friendly and responsive throughout the whole process. Though our bathroom project was on the smaller side, Dave still made us feel valued as a customer. He answered all of our questions promptly and worked within our schedule to get the job done. He was also very respectful of our condo building's rules and requirements. Richard and his team did amazing work and were truly professionals. Their attention to detail is clearly evident in every aspect. We couldn't be happier with our bathroom. It is just what we imagined, but better. AND they finished 1 day sooner than expected, such a pleasant surprise! 10/10 would hire again for ANY remodeling project. You will not be disappointed!

I'm so glad that I found Skyway Remodeling! After a terrible experience with another contractor, it was a breath of fresh air to work with David and Ryszard to update the kitchen of my recently purchased condo. Their quote for the job was the most reasonable I received, and it was great to have the control of being able to buy all my own materials. Working with Ryszard felt like a partnership, and I was very happy to have someone to bounce design ideas off of. Ryszard was also a great problem solver when unforeseen issues arose, like when the deep sink that I ordered made the plumbing hook-up a little more complex than anticipated. The transformation of my kitchen has been really remarkable, and I find myself just standing and admiring the new space. I would definitely hire Skyway Remodeling for any upcoming projects, and have already recommended them to friends and family who are thinking of starting any home projects.

Skyway was fantastic, so much that we hope to use them to partially remodel our kitchen in the next year or so. We had an old, dingy bathroom from the 1970s with a leaky shower, like a nasty dorm bathroom. We wanted new floor tile and, in the shower, new cementboard, tile, flooring, and door. Dave responded immediately to our questions, offered suggestions for tile selections, and arranged to start work within just a few weeks of our first consultation. The contractors were diligent about laying plastic down, vacuuming up dust, and minimizing mess. They (Peter especially) worked very fast and efficiently--often putting in 12 hour days. We had an unexpected issue with the upstairs neighbor's shower leaking into ours, and Peter would not rest until he figured out the issue and resolved it for the neighbor. We could not have asked for or expected such wonderful attention. These photos are only mid-project. But you can see that instead of a dorm bathroom, we have a bright, clean, Paris vibe. FIRST LET ME SAY THAT RICHARD AND HIS CREWMATE WERE FABULOUS. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL, EFFECIENT AND COURTEOUS. THIS BATHROOM WAS STARTED BY SOMEONE ELSE AND NOT COMPLETED. AND THE WORK THAT WAS DONE, I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH. KNOWING THAT IT IS HARD TO WORK BEHIND SOMEONE ELSE I WAS NOT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. BUT THEY WERE GREAT. WHAT THEY COULD CORRECT THEY DID AND ADDED SOME EXTRAS. THEIR WAS A WINDOW IN THE SHOWER (I DO NOT KNOW WHY) AND THE PREVIOUS CONTRACTOR WAS SUPPOSED TO RE-TILE. WHAT THEY DID WAS HORRIBLE. THAT IS WHY I CONTACTED SKYWAY REMODILING. THEY RE-TILED THAT WINDOW SO THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT. THEN COMPLETED THE REST (PAINTING - HANGING THE LIGHT, CHANGING OUT THE TOILET, ETC) TIMING WAS GREAT. THEY CAME IN AND WORKED UNTIL THE JOB WAS FINISHED. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN. This was such a wonderful process working with Skyway Remodeling! I give them my fullest and highest endorsement! I have to be honest, of the four companies I invited for quotes, Skyway was the least appealing to me, at least initially, and that was because of the quickness of the initial walkthrough. However, once I communicated to Skyway that I was not interested, Dave made the best and most reasonable offer given the other three companies. Of the four companies, his response and communication times were the quickest and Dave is truly a nice and wonderful person. During our confirmation meeting, he drove across the city to meet me as I prepared to go out of town, and did so even as his van got a flat tire on Lake Shore Drive. He made it to my house, in time, went over the little details, answered my questions, and we sealed the deal. Dave's dedication and kindness is what made this such a wonderful experience. I got a full bathroom gut and remodel, removed an old 2000s inspired jacuzzi tub, tiled shower walls and subfloor and installed floor to ceiling subway tile in a 5'x8' bathroom with a walk-in luxury shower with matte black features (rainfall shower, body jets, and handheld wand). I had to provide all of the fixtures (tiles, vanity, mirror, lights, toilet, shower fixtures, grout, etc) that I wanted installed. I also had 16 recessed lights installed in four different rooms. In terms of the team that completed the work, Richard and John were fantastic! Richard, as the project manager was personable, knowledgeable, and professional! He was more than willing to help me with planning the details of the project and made accommodations as the renovation progressed. All aspects of the project were completed in a timely manner. The team worked to keep my house as clean as possible throughout the renovation. Since it was a bathroom gut and reno, they even made accommodations to keep the toilet in the house as long as possible. Of the 12 days (including the weekend which they don't work) that it took to complete the project, I only was without a toilet for two days. Overall, Skyway Remodeling is a company that I would strongly encourage my friends and family to use! If you're reading this quite lengthy review, I would tell you just to stop here, give Dave a call, and just hire Skyway! In the photos I've included, I had my inspiration photo (from pinterest) and then the actual final renovation photo (which does not include the glass shower door at the moment).

They were great. Just for starters, they really worked with me to determine the right layout for the kitchens and baths. I felt like it was a collaborative experience and that they were really trying to do what was best for me. They even recommended that I go with the roofing company to do the parapet walls of my home, because they felt it was in my best interest to have both projects done by the same company. Their workers showed up on time every single day and kept the job site extremely clean, it was remarkable how organized and clean they were. They're the first people I'm going to call for the next job that I have.

A friend's house had a very beautiful kitchen and we noticed it and asked them who did it for them, and they referred us to Skyway. They are very professional, and the thoroughness and quality of the work and the product selected were top of the line. He had an eye for decorating so I allowed him to select tile for the bathroom and kitchen, he is reliable and punctual, he always came on time. He doesn't have other jobs in between, so he is able to focus and complete the project first. He is very neat, the clean up is done every day. He treats the house as if it is his own. He meets with you prior to completing the project so you know exactly what he want to do (like a consultation), in that way both him and the customer will be on the same page about the project.

The results are fantastic! We have hired Skyway Remodeling twice and will continue to use them. Richard, the owner, has a great work ethic as well as his assistants. This team works steadily and completes the job in a timely manor within the agreed upon time. It is obvious that they know what they are doing and have done this before. Not only do we have a beautiful result, but everything was cleaned up with no garbage or mess left behind. In regards to cost (below) Richard had us buy all the materials and then he transported them with his truck. We paid him for labor when he was done. We had free reign to pick out what we wanted, unlike the two other quotes who wanted us to pay them so much for materials and labor upfront and then they would purchase within parameters. Skyway Remodeling provides excellent work at reasonable prices. Thank you Richard for beautiful new bathrooms!

We were thrilled with the work that Richard and his team did. They were professional, accommodating, and their work was fantastic. I also appreciated that he felt like he could offer suggestions when he thought we wouldn’t be happy with a decision we made. As first time remodelers, he saved us a few times! They were also unbelievably clean and tidy. One bathroom they remodeled was off our kitchen/living room, and for the most part you didn’t notice we were mid-construction. They have also been great with coming back for touch ups and adjustments we wanted after construction was completed. We can’t recommend them enough, and we recommend them often!

We had our kitchen remodeled by Ryszard Bialas. We’re so happy we hired him for the job! The job involved tearing out old cabinets and floor, installing new wood floor and cabinets, replacing new electrical outlets and lighting, new drywall, installing tile backsplash, and painting. Everything turned out more beautiful than we ever imagined! Ryszard was so professional; he put endless care into the project. He explained every part of the process to us. He stayed on schedule and on budget with the project. We are so impressed by Ryszard’s work! We highly recommend him!

I cannot speak more highly of Ryszard and his work on our bathroom remodel. Not only were they incredibly professional and punctual, their work was excellent! Ryszard was very helpful through the process, giving advice about different products, keeping us updated on our profess, and they worked efficiently to create a great finish. Amazing high quality work! We had our bathroom renovated by Ryszard Bialas. The project entailed gutting existing bathroom, updating plumbing and electrical, installing new drywall, new tile floor, tiling around bathtub, painting, and installation of new bathroom appliances and accessories. Ryszard did such an amazing job! He put so much quality and craftsmanship into his work. He explained every step of his process with us. He was very efficient with his time. He is super professional! He puts a lot of care into his work! He made sure the project was fitting to our needs. We are so impressed with his work! The entire renovation was such a positive experience. Amazing quality work! This was our first major home reno project; so we needed a lot of ‘hand-holding’ throughout the process. Richard Bialas was our guy! He was super patient with us when we didn’t even have any actual drawing plans. He really understand what we wanted and was able to execute our ideas with such attention to detail. He even gave suggestions to help enhance our ideas. He has an endless resource of knowledge and experience. When we needed to get a stairwell post/sleeve we were going to have to custom order it, because our stairs are really steep it calls for a nonstandard size. This would take several weeks and more money. Richard was able to save us money by custom building it himself. He did a beautiful job designing the post with such quality craftsmanship while keeping it within our style. Richard explains his process every step of the way. We really felt a sense of confidence and trust within his work. He put so much quality and care into each of the projects as if it were for his own home. He was very accommodating with us when we needed something changed or if we were indecisive about a decision in our plans. He was super professional and thoughtful working around our household of two kids and a cat. He used his skills and a lot of creative problem-solving to make our home project stay true to our vision. We would definitely recommend Richard Bialas to our family and friends. We can’t wait to work with Richard again on our next home renovation project!

I own a 1915 condo on the Northside of Chicago that I've been working on renovating the last two years. Ryszard and his partners have gut rehabbed two bathrooms, a kitchen and added a new bedroom to my condo. He and his team have handled it all, plumbing, electrical, brickwork, finish carpentry, painting, drywall, etc, always to a very high standard. Ryszardstands by his work and his sense of pride is evident in the quality work he does. Our projects have lasted from 6 to ~10 and have been completed without delays. Ryszard has been in the trade for 20+ years and I look forward to working with him again on my future renovations. Highly recommended.

Richard Bialas was the subcontractor that renovated my master bathroom. He was efficient, reliable, a craftsman, punctual and friendly, yet professional. Project was finished in a timely manner as well. He was definitely an asset to the general contractor.
