The wait time varies based on the day that you go. We had a morning appointment so I think we didn't wait much longer than 10 or 15 minutes. The staff interacts extremely well with my pets. Sometimes I think they love my dog as much as I do.

we have been clients at RVAH for 7 years since our dog was 4 mo. It has been bugging us that vets change a lot, every time you go, you see a different vet. They also charge very expensive fees for even a small things. (i.e. to fill out the travel form you pay $75, etc. )We tolerated all due to convenience- we lived a few blocks away. all was ok when our dog was young and had virtually no problems. Still every visit cost $250 on average for a healthy dog. However, last month our dog almost died due to misdiagnosis. In fact two different RVAH vets misdiagnosed her with paw and UTI problem while in fact she suffered from obvious standard infection pyometra. We were charged half a grand for 5 incorrectly targeted tests, 2 medications, which as it turned out later aggravated her internal poisoning condition. We went to RVAH twice in 4 days in hopes to get better diagnosis. All in vain, by the weekend our dog was so bad - we had to go to emergency clinic while RVAH advised us to "wait until Monday to do 3 more tests to determine what exactly is wrong with her". We paid several thousands for an expensive emergency surgery. Otherwise our dog would have died from internal poisoning in 48 hours. The surgeon told us our dog condition and symptoms were veterinary 101, he was stunned she was misdiagnosed twice.. When we asked to reimburse us only for 2 incorrectly targeted xrays of her legs ($200), tthere was no answer at first, then long consideration, no answer again, and then again no replies at all... We are not going back to RVAH. In fact we are willing to drive an hour to get to a good vet. If you are willing to pay expensive fees for basic routine checkups, seek second opinion after you get any diagnosis, and risk misdiagnosis i critical condition, RVAH is your hospital. Otherwise look for another vet like us.

Nice folks at Roscoe Village Animal Hospital. We have been seeing Dr. Schnitker for annual visits and sick visits. She has a nice way with our animals. A feature that we really like about this hospital is that they have both Saturday and Sunday hours. In case of a day time emergency or illness this is great. The downside of this vet clinic is that parking is a pain. You can luck out and find street parking nearby or pay to park across the street in the paid parking lot. Also, as with other vet practices there seems to be frequent turnover with vets. This becomes an issue if you have an emergency and can't get in to see your regular vet. We will continue to go to Roscoe Village as long as our vet remains there.

I began taking my dog to Roscoe Village Animal Hospital a year ago based on all the wonderful things I'd heard about the founder, Dr. Rovner. What I've found is that, while Dr. Rovner is a good vet, he is not very available, either for appointments or for follow-up via phone after seeing him. Most of the care is given by staff vets who vary widely in experience and interpersonal skills, and some procedures are done by vet techs with no supervision by a veterinarian.
The main reason for my low rating is the experience I had today. My dog is over 10 years old and his breed is cancer-prone, so I have annual titers (blood test to confirm immunity) rather than subjecting him to unnecessary vaccinations, which run the risk of causing serious illnesses. I found out this morning that my dog's titer for distemper was low, so I called RVAH to arrange for that single vaccination. I started out by saying that my dog needed only distemper, that most vets don't stock it, and that they would probably have to order it for me. I was told that they did have the single vaccine, so I went in this afternoon to get it taken care of. I was stunned to be told AFTER the vaccine had been injected that it had been a distemper/parvo vaccine and that they didn't stock the single vaccine.
This is gross incompetence. My dog already had good immunity to parvo and this vaccine was administered without my consent. It is a vaccine which can have serious side effects, including autoimmune hemolytic anemia, a disease that can be life-threatening. Also, I have recently determined that my dog's titer test could have been low due to a drug he was taking prior to the test. The vet should have known this, and repeated the titer before vaccinating again would have been the most reasonable course of action.
It seems to me that giving a drug to a dog without the owner's consent might possibly be illegal - I'll be looking into that. Needless to say, I will never return to this place again.

They are very good, but they are very expensive. They do not give a discount for having multiple cats. They are very good and thorough. They are very nice people. When one of my previous cats died, they were very kind but it was kind of high way robbery for cremation and other services. I don't know that is any different than other city vets.

Dr. Trupia treated both of my dogs within the last week and I had an excellent experience with her on both occasions. My year and a half year old dog saw Dr. Trupia for her yearly exam and update on her vaccinations. Everyone at the office was very friendly, and we got in to see the doctor on time. Dr. Trupia and the veterinary nurse were very kind, gentle, and it was obvious that they genuinely cared for my dog. This past weekend, I brought in my other dog to see Dr. Trupia regarding a medical concern. My dog was stressed and very nervous, but Dr. Trupia was patient and gentle with him, even when he growled at her during the examination. Following the examination, Dr. Trupia gave a detailed explanation of the possible problems, and given each, how we should proceed. It was very reassuring to have someone so kind and patient caring for my dog! The costs associated with the care of my dogs seemed reasonable and comparable to what other facilities are charging in the area. (The amount spent covered two pet examinations, two fecal analyses, two blood work-ups, and rabies plus other vaccinations for one dog).

I recently moved to the city, and was referred to this vet by the Animal ER. They are bit pricey, but to be honest, every vet seems pricey anywhere you go. I've been to RVAH multiple times, and every visit has been with Dr. Lindsay Seilheimer. She is so caring and good with animals. She spends plenty of time with my pet and does an excellent job with follow-up. Shortly after first visiting this hospital with one of my cats, the other passed away at home unexpectedly. They had never seen this cat, but treated he and I as if he was a long time veteran there. They went WAY above and beyond to be thoughtful with the loss of my cat, and really helped to have a good keepsake from my loss. Since then, we've been back multiple times- some scheduled, some only a call-ahead with an unplanned "emergency". Every time they have quickly taken me in and taken great care of my best friend. Most recently after an office visit Dr. Seilheimer called a week or so later and asked if I could just drop in for 5 minutes (free of charge) to take a quick peek at my cat to be sure his status hadn't changed. She was concerned that since I see him daily, I might not notice a deterioration in his condition. She was in surgery when I arrived, but was able to take a minute to take a quick look at my boy. I would highly recommend Dr. Seilheimer to care for your pets.

They are on the expensive side, but personally I think it's worth it. Overall, experiences have been very good and they do their jobs well. All the staff seems to love animals and they have in depth conversations with you. They treat you with a lot of respect. They will explain things to you in a scientific manner but yet don't treat you like you wouldn't understand. They are patient if you have questions and I always feel good about leaving my pet there. I have followed the vet from one facility to another because he is so good.

Great. Dr. Rovner is the best--he really cares about the animals and is always up on the latest developments. The only downside is that you have to wait a while to see him (he is always running late but that is because he takes his time with each patient). I love that they will always clip my pets' nails free of charge. Most vets charge to clip nails. RVAH never does.

The doctor saw that my cat was on the schedule for later in the week, and had the receptionist call me to bring my cat in that day to be seen. The clinic is very clean and the staff is helpful if I need anything.

We have been very pleased with Dr. Rovner. He spends as much time as necessary with us and our dog, and is always looking for new and innovative ways to proceed. I love that he is open to alternative methods of treatment, and he is great about doing research about rare problems(which our dog is prone to getting). He never hesitates to call or email with follow-up information. Our only issue with RVAH is the turnover with some of the other vets, but that seems to be slowing down. In the meantime, we usually just ask for Dr. Rovner!

A friend highly recommended Dr. Rovner to us. New dog, recently rescued and came to live with us. Already has vaccinations, needs x-rays due to a prior injury (while he was homeless) to his leg. We had a bad experience with our previous dog's general vet, and were hopeful that our friend's recommendation would be for a good vet with professional staff. Bad luck on first visit; day after a bad storm, no power, the main reason for our going to the hospital was to get X-RAYS and meet Dr. Rovner. Saw Dr. Rovner once in passing (he didn't even stop by to say hello/ nice to meet you/ sorry you came all this way for no x-rays; anything would have been nice), otherwise spoke with a new vet. This vet was very nice, apologized we'd made a long drive for nothing, advised we schedule an appointment for x-rays at a later time. I asked the staff to please call when their x-ray machine was up and running again. Rough estimate from the new vet of x-ray costs for 6 views (4 of the injured arm, plus 2 views of spine/hips) = approx $250.00. Interesting how the phones worked for the credit card machine in their office to process the general visit fee of $55, but that the telephones didn't work to call me ahead of time to re-schedule, if primary reason for my visit was x-rays, it's quite a waste of our time to both take time from work to drive to Roscoe Village to get no x-rays. There was no call from the staff, so I called this morning, got an 11:30 a.m. appointment to go and get x-rays. No appointment w/Dr. Rovner (he's not available today), but was told we could get the x-rays today, Dr. R. would review and call us back. My husband took more time off from work today to go back to Roscoe Village, waited 40 minutes, then was told by a not-very-friendly front desk person that he would have to wait even longer, and did he know the x-rays would be at least $600?! Plus, anesthesia would bring the total to around $800, plus more waiting. My husband was not pleased, said this was not the rate quoted yesterday. It was bad enough they didn't have the courtesy to call us yesterday morning to let us know they were without x-ray capability due to the power outage, BEFORE we both took time from work to drive from our far NW side home to Roscoe Village. Would have been nice to get a more accurate cost estimate. We're now going to simply move on to an orthopedic specialist, to get x-rays and an opinion. Maybe Dr. Rovner is a good vet, maybe the freak circumstance of the power outage led to the unprofessional behavior of his staff and poor cost estimate. Bottom line - it all added up to a terrible vet experience. Our previous dog had a lot of specialists, but his general vet (at one of the Banfield hospitals) was terrible. We were hoping for a better experience with Dr. Rovner. NO, so now we continue to search for a general vet.

We took our two year old dog to Dr. Rovner to have stitches removed and a check-up on a bladder infection. He was a kind, informative, and gentle vet. He's wonderful! Our little pup had a growth on his shoulder that was removed at McKillip Animal Hospital two weeks ago. Within forty-eight hours of the surgery, he had a severe bladder infection. The service was so bad at McKillip, we decided to try a new vet. Our friends recommended Dr. Rovner and he was FANTASTIC. Dr. Rovner and his nurse took the stitches out from the surgery site, did a urinalysis to check if the infection was still there, and did a blood test. He talked to me about the kind of growth that had been removed at McKillip (a benign growth that would have fallen off on its own in a couple of months), discussed in detail everything he was looking for and testing for, and also showed me how to properly brush our dog's teeth. Best of all was how attentive he and his staff were to the well-being of our dog. Our dog was quite nervous when he arrived, so they gave him a Popsicle stick full of peanut butter to keep him occupied through the poking and prodding. It worked! By the time the visit was over, our dog was laying down as if he were at home. He was completely relaxed. The difference between Dr. Rovner and McKillip was astonishing. Truly! I highly recommend Dr. Rovner and Roscoe Village Animal Hospital.

I have been going to RVAH for the past year and had been happy with the service. This last (and it will be my last) visit was an exercise in frustration. I was to get the results of her test the next day, I got a message the next day that the test results were delayed a day. I then got a call from a vet that was not the vet that I saw and got the test results. When I asked a follow-up question of this vet, I was told that the vet that saw her would have to talk with me. That's when the frustration began. The vet consistently called me at work after 7 in the evening, even though I left messages with my numbers and the hours I would at those numbers. She continued to either leave messages at work at night or not call at all. The messages did not contain any of the information I was asking about, even though I included what information I was looking for when I left messages. E-mails were not acknowledged of returned. I just wanted advice on what my next steps should be with my dog.

I have taken my pets there to be treated for several years, and I think it is a highly recommendable vet clinic. Of course, when they are that good, sometimes they are too busy. However, I'd rather have that than take my pets to vets that are not that good.

I have so many excellent things to say about Scott Rovner I could write a book. He is without doubt one of the best vets around and I just love how up to date his services are. Between this and the immaculately kept office, I wouldn t think of going to another place for my dogs. I highly recommend them and even though they are a little more expensive than other places, I can honestly tell you it is well worth it.

I really highly recommend them. They are wonderful. Scott is the owner and he is probably one of the best I have ever worked with. He is very thorough in explaining and telling you what is going on. I feel Scott kind of goes that extra mile for you. He is very good. This exam went fine. They charge about $34 for a re-check, $23 for a brief exam, and $52 for an office visit.

The office staff is friendly and really cares about the well being of not only my dog, but they always ask how I am too. They are able to administer the shot without having to see the vet, which is nice and helps cut down the cost.
