Jeffrey arrived on time and was responsive. However, Jeff missed a VERY crucial, important and now COSTLY expense for my husband and I to NOW repair. Jeff missed many concerns with our front door. It has major gaps, wood rot and the door also hits the front step as you open the door. A few weeks after moving in we noticed our house was FREEZING and it was all due to the front door. The ENTIRE door needs to be replaced and I am so angry he did NOT catch this. This is costing us thousands of dollars to replace. Would NOT recommend Jeff to anyone. On our report under major concerns: he put none. Items reaching the end of their life or need replacement in the next 5 years : he put none. Items to monitor: he put none. Do not hire Jeff. Now thousands of dollars in the hole.

I had the pleasure of hiring Jeffrey again for a second home after the first deal fell through. Jeffery was thoughtful throughout the entire process and made sure to highlight his findings no matter how small. I highly recommend his services. I found Jeffrey at RCIS, LLC on Angie's List and based on his A rating and reviews I reached out to inquire about his availability and price to perform the inspection on the home we intend to buy. From the initial contact to the receipt of the final report we were very pleased with Jeffrey's professionalism and performance. He was very friendly and explained how the inspection would go, we trailed him throughout and he shared his findings in each room. He documents directly in an iPad which allows him to turn the final report pretty quickly. We felt that he was very thorough, he encouraged us to ask questions and told us to call if we had questions after we received the report. I would highly recommend Jeffrey for home inspections service.

Great. Inspector was personable, thorough, and knowledgeable. He explained technical terms and functions in down to earth language.

Jeff was absolutely fantastic. With our agent, he helped us inspected our new home before we closed on it. A couple of things I really liked about working with him:

1.) He had an impeccable eye for detail. Be it a extraneous ground screw, single missing bolt on the deck, or sticky window; Jeff was able to help us go into the purchase with eyes wide open. 

2.) He provided both professional and practical remedies for everything we found (e.g, this would cost $X with an electrician, or these parts, etc.). Even when things weren't broken, he provided a laundry list of items on how we could best maintain this particular house. For example, how and when to shut off external hoses, cleaning gutters, and how to maintain our catch basin. It was a wealth of knowledge that I'd otherwise would have gained by breaking things.

3.) He wasn't an alarmist. Buying a house can be a scary thing. He made a point to show us all the awesome things about the house and when things weren't perfect, kept us calm and fact based.

4.) He understands Chicago. For example, he pointed out how the tuckpointing job would work with traditional Chicago brick and would flake off  in the next few years (which he provided us practical advice on taking care of).

5.) He was quick. We got him for an inspection on 3 days notice and had the report the same day. Helped us keep the process moving.

All-in-all I'd HIGHLY recommend Jeff for any Chicagoland property.

The contracted work went very well. The inspection took 10-15 minutes and only cost $100. Jeffrey, the contractor, was very professional and easy to work with.

The inspection went great, he was on time and was very professional. He took me through every corner of the house and explained things very clearly. He identified things that may need maintenance, things that were missing, broken and also provided insights on why things were built/fixed the way they were (i.e. different materials were used on the roof on the back of the house because of the pitch, etc). He listened and answered about 100 of my questions as we went through the house and was very thorough with everything. I really appreciated the tips and general information he provided along the way (i.e. what to do if you hear crackling from the electric box, options for sump pump back-up, chimney maintenance).
He not only looked at our house, but looked at neighbor houses and suggested an additional radon test because they had a mitigation system (turns out we could use one too). We would have never thought to test for that as we're not from the immediate area. 
He took his time and impressed not only me but my Realtor, and the seller's Realtor. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a home inspector. If I would add one minor comment, it would be that we would have liked a few more pics in the report of things that needed maintenance but not a big deal at all. The report was sent later that day and all transactions were done electronically and were emailed directly to me.

Jeffrey came recommended from a friend and I couldn't be happier with his services. I looked at a handful of inspectors that were recommended by one person or another, but Jeffrey was quick with communication, had a good price, and his inspection philosophy detailed on his website resonated with us the most. He met us at the property EARLY on Monday morning and he immediately set the stage by being on time, easy to talk to, and interested in our concerns and plans for the property before we started the inspection.
There was a lot to look at, but he took his time at each turn, evaluating conditions, explaining to us exactly what he was seeing and what it meant to us as potential homeowners of the property. The guy obviously has seen a TON of properties and was extremely knowledgable. He climbed up, under, onto, and into all the nooks and crannies of this place (and there were a lot of them), and then he would neatly summarize the current status and options for what we might do or need to do in the future if necessary. By the time we were done, we had intimate and detailed knowledge of every part of the house. It was AWESOME, and that says a lot when you're talking about a home inspection.
One last thing: we're planning to convert this property back into a single family home, so there was much discussion along the way about how best to accomplish our goals, what changes we could make, what was feasible and what would be a challenge. He spent an extra half hour with us just talking over ideas for how we might introduce a new basement stairwell!
Jeffrey is professional, incredibly knowledgable, thorough, straight-forward, and exactly the kind of guy with whom you want to explore a house. We started with an alien property that made us nervous about the secrets and hidden costs it might hold, and when we finished it felt like we had owned the property for 10 years and knew every one of its quirks. Not only did he take time to explain what he was seeing but also explained what you would want or not want to see depending on the situation. In addition he took time to explain things you would want to do in the future as regular maintenance to avoid problems.  Overall, I was very happy with his service.
