We had a terrible experience with Red Mug Constructions team, and definitely donâ t recommend them for even the simplest projects. I wished I could give 0 stars! A small kitchen nook/bar job which based on their estimation was supposed to take only 4 days, took more than 4 months with unsatisfying results. Here is a list of some issues and damages that they caused throughout the project: - The team they hired for measuring and building the pantry doors was incompetent. They made repeated mistakes in measuring the height and width of the cabinets, repeatedly delivering cabinets with uneven measurements. After four rounds of them delivering the unevenly sized cabinet doors, we finally gave up and had them install the cabinets with wrong measurements. - Their contractors failed to close off an air vent under the pantry which blows hot air directly into the pantry, causing food stored in the pantry to spoil. We hired another contractor to come and fix this error. - Their contractors damaged our walls and hardwood floors, and when asked to repair the damages on the floor they used the wrong finish so the repaired area does not match the original flooring. - Rather than professionally installing LED lights under the butcher blocks (as per our request), they bought and installed cheap LED lights from Amazon to place under the butcher blocks - something that a 10-year old with no training could have done - They used aerosol spray paint inside the kitchen without covering countertops or furniture in the area - causing a big cloud of paint dust to settle on everything in the kitchen - Jorge, the owner, intentionally delayed installation of granite countertops and ended up leaving the country for a month during which he was unreachable

Wonderful experience with Red Mug. Prompt and professional communication via email and text; they came prepared with written proposals/contracts that our attorney said were the best he’d seen from a contractor in the city. Friendly team who respected our home while working. We plan to use them again in the near future for another project.

Jorge and the red mug team did a phenomenal job on our renovation. Our renovation was complex, involved multiple stakeholders, budget constraints and unique features. The TL;DL is our renovation was challenging and the Red Mug Team delivered and help us realize our dream house. The renovation comprised of completely gutting the entire third floor of our condo as well as most of the second floor. Jorge went above and beyond to support our project, including making TV appearances as our renovation was featured on Windy City rehab. There was an enormous amount of time pressure and a lot of emotions toward the end of the product as my husband was commuting back and forth between Florida and Chicago. Jorge handled all of the pressure and the numerous requests with grace and professionalism. We are proud of our newly renovated home and grateful to Jorge and his team for the work they did. As a bonus, the show also turned out to be a great TV episode! I highly recommend working with Jorge and his team. They will get the work done, at a good quality and aim to meet all of your requests. I contracted with Red Mug to renovate a small bathroom in my condo. My experience with Jorge and his team was fantastic. Every concern/question I had before, during and after the project was promptly answered and resolved to my satisfaction. The bathroom turned out better than I expected! I would definitely work with Red Mug again and have already requested a quote for replacing my kitchen countertops!

I would highly recommend Red Mug Construction for your next home improvement project. Jorge was top-notch as he was actively engaged throughout the process, providing a high level of comfort to my wife and me as we remodeled our kitchen. He set a high standard for his teams, consistently messaged expectations, and made himself available to address questions as the project advanced. Red Mug also played a critical role in picking the right countertop along with the backsplash for our home. Jorge did an outstanding job of offering his remodel expertise along with displaying patience as we worked through our renovations. We will be using Red Mug again for any future projects and look forward to partnering with Jorge to continue to construct our ideal home.

Una empresa increíble. Necesitaba sus servicios para un proyecto muy grande relacionado a una reforma de una cocina y desde el trato hasta el trabajo en sí fue todo un lujo contar con esta empresa. Fue una bendición poder contar con un grupo de trabajo tan competente y que encima hablen español ya que mi inglés no es tan bueno. Jorge me ayudó en cada paso y me dio soluciones a todos mis problemas y preocupaciones. Sin duda los voy a volver a contratar y recomiendo sus servicios al 100%

Working with Jorge and Red Mug Construction was a dream. It was a very easy process and everything went smoothly.

The owner, Jorge, is a real gentleman and great with customer service. And I was happy with everything that we had done. This is a first class company!

I had the need to improve my bathroom due to wear and tear so, decided to remodel the bathtub/shower combo into an enclosed standing shower and upgrade almost everything else in the room. The owner provided an assessment, very positive that my vision for a modern room and space could be achieved. Being an older condominium, I was informed during demolition, that space between 2 interior walls (my bathroom and closet) at one end was very narrow and a new stud frame had to be installed. I acknowledged that this would mean a bit less space at one end. However, what the contractor didnâ t specify - it was an entirely new frame on 3 sides of the space being installed - reducing my usable area in an already small bathroom - especially after all the sealants and tiles had been built. I was only periodically able to access the room to review elements of the work and as the threshold tiling was placed and finished setting - I finally got into the shower to find myself standing in a tiny 21â inch wide area with a 6.5â wide threshold. I requested for the work to be corrected with the contractor refusing - stating the project had been done up to standard even though itâ s actually not up to municipal code for shower space width which is 32â . RED MUG became insistent that there was no other way to do the remodel, even telling me any resale value would not be impacted even though itâ s clearly too small a space so, I begrudgingly accepted they would need to continue just to get it completed. I became so distraught at this time so, approached an engineer and realtor, to assess the work. With years of knowledge about the condominium, their feedback was the same - they (RED MUG) have done this incorrectly. â Theyâ ve taken away space you once had and itâ s done so poorly - there are finishings which even look poorly done, you should try to sell and get out.â Not wanting to face that outcome, I engaged with an independent contractor whoâ s worked in the same building and has remodeled bathrooms both maintaining space and bringing them up to code, which I shared with RED MUG. RED MUG continued to refute these facts, and refusing to acknowledge they didnâ t have the expertise to do the job correctly and continued to present options to me that would either: A: not be up to code B: cost me more money C: not the vision I had agreed to in SoW Weeks of going back and forth were spent with me, trying to terminate and recover some of my funds just so I can afford to work with a more experienced and expert contractor who knows what theyâ re doing. Red Mug Construction was by far the best experience with home remodeling that Iâ ve ever had in my life. The turn around time for this project was insane. We reached out at the beginning of the week, paid our deposit at the end of the week, materials were purchased over the weekend and they arrived at our home to start with the following Monday. Their staff was courteous, prompt and used the time efficiently. What could have been a months long ordeal was finished in about 10 days and they even showed up on Thanksgiving for a half dayâ s work! The shelves they put in are beautiful and match the rest of the wood work in the home as well, which my husband and I did not anticipate or expect as this is a storage roomâ but now itâ s beautiful enough for company! The quote on the project was fair and portioned out appropriately as well. No one tried to up charge us or convince us to do any features we werenâ t already interested, instead they just came up with ideas to increase efficiency within the home which was incredibly refreshing. I now have no interest whatsoever in working with anyone else for our home. We have 2 more design projects on the back burner and I know exactly who to call to handle them next year. Iâ ve also given their contact to friends and neighbors. We had a $200,000 rehab done on our home last year by another construction group and weâ re still left feeling underwhelmed. But this small $10,000 job with Red Mug? This was a level of professionalism and efficiency that I wonâ t soon forget. They were very professional & very efficient! They let me know exactly what the cost would be without any hidden charges! The job was done without any complications & the job was done to my specifications! In the future these are the people I will call and highly recommend!
