Ray and his partner ground off all the rust and loose paint, cut out a badly rusted lockbox and a few sections of rail and welded in new pieces. They then primed and painted all the iron work.

I never got a reply to my Angie's List online request. I also called the listed phone number off and on for two weeks and left messages to return my call, but no response.

Ray and his crew have a great attention to detail. We hired them, then the neighbors hired them. Definitely recommend and would hire again. We had work to do with decorative fences on brick walls, around shrubbery, garden gates, elaborate hand railings, and the base for steps. All was done well from the grinding to the painting and everything in between. We had a bit of sticker shock in a GOOD way when Ray submitted his quote because he was so much less than other contractors who had reviews that were not as good as Ray's. So, we trusted the reviews and could not be happier.

A+ work. Ray and helper met me early on a Saturday morning to assess the alley gate at the building we'd recently bought. The gate was so badly distorted and bent that it could barely be opened once closed, and one of the lock's couldn't even be engaged. I appreciated his willingness to fit me in as he was on his way to a job that morning. He quickly assessed the situation, and helped me out by cutting off an old padlock that the previous owner hadn't given us the key for. He gave me a verbal quote on the spot for the work, and it was very reasonable. I didn't even bother having anyone else look at the gate. A few days later he was right on time to do the work. This repair involved cutting some metal out and replacing it, also using heat to bend some parts back into shape, moving the hinges slightly for a better fit, and capping the posts so the problems would not come back. I'd bought new locks and to finish the job he installed those, after giving all the areas he'd worked on a coat of primer, then black. Everything is square now, the gate fits like new, locks line up perfectly. As I saw how much better the gate looked and worked I asked Ray to also take a look at the front gate, where the stop plate was bent, putting stress on the lock, and he had a quick and neat solution there too. All told maybe 3 hours work, for a very reasonable price; no 'extra' for parts, etc. Ray doesn't take credit cards, but do NOT let that prevent you hiring him. When you see his truck pull up, a battered pickup with a welding rig on the back, you'll understand: he's old-school. That is a GOOD THING. Ray is the kind of guy you want working for you. I'll definitely hire him again.

Just moved to Chicago and our wrought iron gate wouldn't close properly. Found Ray on Yelp and came out the same day I called him, repaired the gate and put an automatic closing spring on. He is so professional, knowledgeable, and nice. Service was really reasonably priced. Liked him so much that we are having him replace the gate on our back fence along with installing a custom keypad lock.

Well. We've been trying for years to get someone out to repair a single broken railing on our front steps. However, companies either wouldn't respond or they'd say the job was too small. Ray answered right away, and though he took a few days between inquiries, he did follow through and repair the break. At long last we don't hear a rattle every time someone comes up the steps.

It was initially difficult to schedule, but they showed up and got it in place. They arrived late and so they had to work after dark and weren't able to finish. Ray insisted on full payment and promised he would finish the job. However, almost 3 months later I've had to contact him every week asking him to come back and finish. Usually he doesn't respond at all, but when he does, he tells me he will try to come this week. He never comes and I'm tired of chasing him to finish the job I paid him for. I will not be using his services again.

Ray did an excellent job fixing our front and back gates. Re-set in new concrete post on 6' tall back gate, which had sagged and wouldn't close. Repaired front gate that was missing plate and screws. Very efficient, quality job.

He came out to look at the gate and decided the box needed to be replaced with a larger box than what he had on his truck. I had sent him pictures of the lock box before he came out to look at it. He said he would call as soon as he was able to get it because he had a provider to get it from that he knew would have the right size. He never got back to me and I wrote to three or four times him asking if he had any luck finding a new lock box. He had stopped responding to my texts.

He is a very nice man but didn't follow through on his commitments.

Ray is a little hard to get a hold of, but once you do, they do a great job. We had all of our wrought iron repainted and some welding work done. They worked efficiently and the finished product looks great. They even offered to come back in a couple of months and do some touch up work and delivered on that promise. I highly recommend.

Ray' workers did a terrific job of grinding off the old paint and rust. The repainted railing looks like new and is back in excellent condition. They covered house areas and flower plants to protect them from dust and paint splatter. A few days later Ray came out to inspect the work and touchup any areas that were needed. I am extremely pleased with their work and would place them at the top of my list to call back.

After an initially positive response, he stopped replying to emails and calls. Not very professional.
