Went very well! Platinum Mechanical Services was one of the preferred service centers for our U-line beverage center (small fridge). They were very professional over the phone when discussing the costs and how the services worked, and very professional when on-site handling the job. Over the phone, they made it clear how the costs would work before we booked a visit from them, and on-site they explained what they explained what they thought was the problem and the way to fix it. Got a call a few days later with the estimate on how to fix it and parts needed, then later returned after they got the part and fixed the job in less than an hour. They kept me updated the whole time and did a really nice job.

I was OH SO PLEASANTLY surprised with how friendly their reps were and how easy it was to get our oven fixed. I scheduled a Wednesday appointment on a Monday, they called on Tuesday with a 3-hour timeframe from 10-1pm. I said we really couldn't be there before 11:30 and I knew it meant we may have to reschedule. Sure enough, I got a call on Wednesday at 11:20 that Rick the technician was about 10 minutes away and had been able to accommodate our request, even though I knew it wasn't a guarantee. My husband let Rick in around 11:45 and I got a text at 12:21 that the problem was diagnosed, the part replaced, and all was well. The downside: it was a $495 repair in total. The oven's igniter had burned out and needed to be replaced (but will hopefully last another 7-10 years). I blame this on the previous owners deciding on such an expensive and uncommon stove ;)

Did not go well.  "Rob" came to the house and immediately started complaining.  First Rob complained that we didn't remove some of the rack supports when we cleaned the oven.  Then he started complaining that we had a drawer in the cabinet under the oven (not clear to us how this relates to fixing the oven). Then, before doing anything he started complaining that he wouldn't be able to pull it out far enough because the cord wasn't long enough (unclear how he thought it was installed). Then he got the oven 90% of the way out, but couldn't swing the legs of some cart a guy in his shop invented, so he refused to do any more.  Evendently, his custom cart needs the wall oven to not have cabinets on either side for it to work.  He told us to get 2 people to remove the oven, he would bring a legal document we would have to sign releasing them of any liability if they damaged anything, and have them back (for another $200) and they would put in the new thermostat.
It really isn't clear to us why they couldn't figure out that a wall oven would be in a wall of cabinets (frankly, I have never seen a wall oven as a free standing cabinet) and send two people if that is what is required.

Booking a time was easy and they even gave me a reminder the day before. Rob came over after a 15 minute courtesy call and promptly got to work. There was a burning smell coming from my dryer when the heat was on. He cleaned it out and checked for parts that needed repair (nothing needed replacing). Found some coins and other stuff stuck in there. He was quick and explained everything. The dryer operated more quietly and smell significantly less after he was done. Left me some nice samples for gifts and next time if I call back within 90 days for service for anything then they waive the $149 service fee and it is just $60. Will use again. Thank you!

beI wish I could report I had a better experience.  I called for service because the oven on my Bertazzoni Range stopped lighting.  They showed up on time, were very polite and tidy, and said they would need to order parts and come back and that it would be a two-person job to install the part.  At that time, the repairman said that when he came back he would "see if we can't fix that oven door from slamming", referencing a problem with the door that I had had literally since purchasing the oven -- and hadn't seen as a problem.
When they came to install the part, they also completely disassembled the door and installed new hinges.  When they added up the bill, the cost of having the door repaired -- something I hadn't asked for -- was over $400!  That was in addition to the $400 to fix the problem I had called them about!  They never said a single word, never quoted me any cost, never asked for permission.  I'm terribly sorry, but that is not right.  He should have given me a quote on the work over and above what I asked him to to.  In total, I paid over $1,000 (which includes paying them to come to my house twice) and had to take three mornings off work to have my stove repaired.  I feel taken advantage of.
When I called and complained, the repairman told me that he had told me explicitly that he could not have repaired the stove without repairing the door because it was a safety issue.  I will swear upon all that is holy that those words never, never came out of his mouth.
That said, when they put the oven back together, they installed the rack guides upside down, which made cooking Thanksgiving dinner a bit of a hassle.  But when I called and told them, they came out the next Friday and made it right.  All told, it was 6 weeks to get the oven back in operating form.
I'm disappointed.  I wish this had gone better.  I don't like having to write a negative review.

I’ve used him for 17 years. He is fantastic. He has done work for my daughter as well. He is fabulous and very knowledgeable at what he does. We have never had any problem with the heaters or A/C unit.

I have had problems with my Sub-Zero refrigerator for over a year now.  Several technicians came out to work on it and it would break down 2 months later.  Platinum Mechanical Services immediately identified the problem, showed me how it had been poorly repaired in the past, replaced the condenser AND repaired a door that two other companies told me could not be fixed. Rick and Chris were professional, knowledgeable, and efficient.  I will never use another company again. They also serviced my Viking oven for me.  Love them!

My Dacor range and oven was not working properly.  The range was about 10 years old but new to me as we had just purchased the house.  The appliance had passed the home inspector but was not up to real life use.  I searched for authorized repair professionals and selected Platinum.  I had seen from online searches that this was an expensive range and I wanted it fixed properly.  They were fantastic!  There were two repair workers who arrived in uniform, on time.  The not only replaced the broken broiler unit but explained how the range worked, but talked to me about routine cleaning and what I could do for myself.  I learned more from those two than from the owners manual.  I have had no trouble since their visit.
I would absolutely call this company again.

Excellent, excellent, excellent.  We were so happy to have the guys from Platinum Mechanical out to repair our microwave and stovetop, after we'd hired two other local repairmen to "fix" them with no solution to the problem.  Platinum Mechanical techs were ultra-knowledgeable and made it clear that they were familiar with the brand and model they were looking at, and so they were able to fix the problem correctly, in a short period of time, the first time.

A few other reviewers have mentioned price, and I'll admit to a little sticker shock when I saw the high hourly rates and the amount of the service charge.  I paid just over $1200 for three visits (they identified an additional issue on their first visit, apart from my complaint, which they came back a different day to fix, plus a third visit that I'll mention below).  I think they're worth the cost, though, for the following reasons:
  • they know what they're doing. Our initial hires of other lower-rate contractors were a waste of money, because they were taking a stab at a project that they, in the end, didn't know how to fix.  Even the receptionist expressed understanding of the problem we were having by indicating that she'd received similar calls for similar appliances.
  • they work hard.  Both techs that we had out were practically running back and forth to their van.  This is not the proverbial "eat a sandwich while at your home" repair company.
  • they stand by their work.  our microwave was shorting out after they came to fix it, so I had them back.  They ran a series of tests, and found out that the problem was my circuit breaker, not their microwave repair.  And they didn't charge me, even though I deserved it.  As you can imagine, that meant a lot to me.
In the end, their price is higher, but I felt they were worth it, I never felt swindled or taken advantage of, and I wish I'd called them first.

They fixed the problem, and they did what I had asked them to do.  I asked them to come back, and they did come back.  It was a little pricier than I thought it would be, but they fixed the issue.  They charged $100-$150 just to come out to the house.

He was very knowledgeable.  They are worth waiting and paying for.  I would have no one else come out to fix my applicances besides this company.  They are very careful.

We were concerned about calling a repair person and paying them $130 just to come out and tell us that we needed a new dishwasher. But, we called Platinum and they came out right away, fixed the dishwasher (for half the price of what I was expecting) and gave us advice on everything on what soap to use to when the right time is to run the dishwasher. Overall a great experience.

They are great. They came out and serviced it twice. It was under warranty and it was all taken care of. The guy was really good. He just really knew his business. I just had a good feeling with the guy and he didn’t give me a huge window. He called me. There are many providers that would give me a certain timeframe and wouldn’t show up or get delayed while I would be waiting for them, but he would call when he was getting close. I could go about my business and come home. I just really liked that. He certainly did not take advantage of me because I think how the warranty thing works is I have kind of a subzero German Brand refrigerator and they obviously get paid by companies. I think he could have said more was needed to be done to get more money but he was very in and out and just fixed that. I would use them again in the future.

When our new under the counter microwave/stove venting system was installed by the manufacturer, they installed it incorrectly. Plantinum Mechanical knew what to do and did it very quickly and efficiently so that the venting system was corrected to vent out through our existing duct.

Rich and an assistant came as promised and looked at the two machines, each having a different problem. They ordered parts and advised as to stuck shut-off valves for the hot water supplies. When the needed parts arrived they set an appointment and Rich came back, not in the morning as promised but at a rescheduled time in the afternoon. With some difficulty (Bosch's fault, or a dented front panel) he replaced a detergent dispenser on one machine, and after changing the supply valves and turning the water back on he replaced the fill valve on the other machine. He ran both machines, adding vinegar to kill an over-supply of detergent in them and confirmed proper operation. Both machines are working well now!

It was relatively easy to get hold of somebody on the phone, and the response for the first service call was reasonably quick. The price was quite high, but the instructions for replacing the handle in the owners' manual were very complicated and nearly incomprehensible, so I figured it was worth it. When the handle broke again after just over a year, I was rather upset. I called Platinum Mechanical, and was able to leave a message right away, but it took quite a while to hear back this time. I did speak to the service manager, who asked reasonable questions about whether the over-the-range microwave could be getting too hot from the stove (it wasn't). They told me that they've replaced several of these handles and never seen the need to replace another one so soon, but they didn't offer any discount on the repeat repair. It took a while to get the second repair scheduled, and it was still quite expensive.
