They were excellent.  The customer service and communication were good.  They asked the right questions to know what we wanted.

For a bit of context, I have moved extensively in my career including moving to and then back from Ireland. I have never had an experience like this before on any of my moves. I didn't give them a F simply because the guys who moved me in were very nice as well as sympathetic and helpful in figuring out what all had been damaged. Also, the guys who built the crates for my glass table tops and then uncrated them were all good, too. Otherwise, this move was a total nightmare. The packing seemed to go OK but took longer than I was told. Also, the estimator that came to look everything over didn't give great information to the guys who had to come and build the crates for some of my glass table tops. We spent a fair amount of time walking around to try to figure out which tops he meant. The packers were chatty to put it mildly. That didn't bother me but may have contributed to the time it took to pack. My main complaint with the packing was what I found at the other end when things were unpacked. The amount of damage and just complete lack of common sense was stunning. For example, I have two very fancy mirrored sconces for candles and couldn't figure out where they might be while unpacking. They weren't in any logical place - like their own box with tons of packing paper and bubble wrap around them. I finally found them at the bottom of a three foot tall box with a DVD player and several other items on top of them. They were "packed" in the bubble wrap that I had them in at the time and nothing else. That they weren't destroyed is a credit to the craftsmanship and not the packers' common sense. An even better example - I have a collection of antique scent bottles. One of the packers decided it would be a good idea to take the tops off all the bottles, lump them together in one pile and wrap that all together. Then he wrapped two or three of the bottles together at a time - no paper separating them, just two or three bottles in a pack. Based on this, I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised to find that one of the tops was broken, three were missing and, even better, one of the bottles was missing - I just had the top. In addition to this fiasco, they wrapped my leather dining chairs in blankets and then apparently proceeded to pile things on them. The chairs were unrecognizable as being the ones from my dining room when I saw them. They were dented, the leather was stretched, pinched and abused and the color for the leather was rubbed off in several places. Even the men unloading the truck were stunned by this and told me that chairs like that should have been packed each in their own wardrobe box with blankets cushioning them in the boxes. Further, the company managed to lose the hardware to put my very expensive dining table back together, lost half (?!?) the hardware to put my day bed and office desk back together and dinged, damaged or broke a large number of other things. My dining room took the biggest hit. In addition to the chair damage and lack of hardware to put the table back together, the movers didn't secure the sliding doors on my china cabinet (two of which are glass), left tape marks all over the china cabinet, somehow managed to put a deep gouge on the inside of the china cabinet base, and apparently dragged the edge of the dining room table top across concrete or something like it. Luckily, the furniture repair people from the insurance company were able to repair most of the damage and disguise the rest. The repair people told me that, here too, the craftsmanship of the china cabinet is the only thing that saved the glass doors (2'x2' glass pane in each). Otherwise, they would have shattered during the move (go Ethan Allen!). The guys who moved me in to the new place were great. The only snafu was that I specifically told the relo people to tell the movers not to bring an 18 wheeler in to my condo complex. So what showed up - an 18 wheeler. The driver said that he queried it before heading out and was told not to worry about it. I called the relo company and yelled. They must have called the moving company and yelled as a senior VP showed up while I was being moved in. No apology or anything - just told me that the driver could get an 18 wheeler in anywhere. I told him that if there was any damage to the condo complex roads or curbs, that I'd point the condo board in his direction and he could deal with it. He, of course, claimed that the relo company never told them about "no 18 wheelers". Right. In the end I had an insurance claim that was four pages long and it took the furniture repair guys multiple trips to my new condo as well as taking multiple pieces back to their shop to fix things in order to get things to almost OK. I ended up rejecting the dining chairs as even with the Herculean efforts by the furniture repair guys, they did not look like they did when they went on the truck. I don't think that it's too much to ask that a company that moves your things for probably a great deal of money delivers them in the same condition that they left your house. Some damage is to be expected, I guess, but this was beyond the pale.

The movers worked very hard and lived up to their promises. Price-wise, they were the middle quote of three places we had contacted. Altogether, they were fantastic.
