Mr. Porch build our "Chicago Deck" for a two flat in the Lincoln Square area of Chicago. The project was completed in August of 2018. As a result of this project we would recommend Mr. Porch to anyone seeking a new deck build, particularly one requiring demolition. We received a solid build, a fair price, and a very good experience overall. Mr. Porch was willing and able to schedule most work while we were out of town, they handled architecture, permitting, a tricky in-place demolition project, and they successfully utilized an existing roof to save us construction cost. This company is big enough to schedule a job exactly when you need them but small enough that interactions are friendly, employees remember you and your project, and the owner is available to customers with little delay. We had a number of follow up calls from them asking if everything was OK, they met with the inspector for us and assured that the porch passed permitting. The actual construction crew was friendly, sensitive to the noise level, and very respectful of our neighbors. I recommend this company and we will return to Mr. Porch for future projects.

We were very happy with the work we recently had done in our house by mr Porch. We had new wood porch and a deck for our backyard. They did a very neat job and were very professional. I would highly recommend them for any home improvement job.

We reached out to Mr. Porch in March 2018 to receive a quote on power washing and sealing our 3-level, large deck at a 14 unit condo association. Frank was professional, friendly and confident. We had a quote within a few days, and signed a few weeks later after comparing other offers. We were told that they wouldn't be able to give us more than a 48-hour notice, but that their schedule was fairly open and they could have us done by mid-May. It's now mid-July. We've called numerous times and keep getting the run around. Each call ends with "You're top of the list. I'm sorry we'll get to you by the end of the week or early next week." and then the week passes by with no word. Today I tried to call again, and the phone kept ringing for two minutes without a voicemail option. This is completely unacceptable. We will never recommend Mr. Porch to any other association within Irving Park/Albany Park based on this experience. It would have been worth the extra money to go with a company that would have completed this job on time.

Mr. Porch replaced and rebuilt our crumbling front decks on our condo building. They arranged the design and permitting process in a way that made everything run smoothly. They actual building was easy for our association, and his team worked professionally and quickly to get the job done according to the plans. Frank (Mr. Porch) is such an expert in the whole process that I would definitely use him again, but I am confident that our decks won’t need it since they are so well constructed!

Let me start by saying I hired Frank and Mr. Porch about six years ago to do a very similar job on another two-flat in the city. I've also worked with Frank on other things. Now, the porches: This job was completed in early summer, 2017. The work was excellent: from the quality and detail of the architectural drawings, to the craftsmanship, to the speed with which the job was completed, to the quality of the wood and hardware, to the final end product ... I was very pleased. The crew even had a porte-potty brought on site, out of the way. These porches are crazy solid, the cuts are perfect, they rounded / sanded down all the corners, they only used screws (takes longer than a nail gun, but lasts much longer), and paid a lot of attention to detail. Quality work all the way around.

The crew came on time and quickly took down my old porches, poured the concrete footings and a necessary retaining wall, and build the new porches. It was an amazing and fast process. In fact, there was an issue with how we could build one of the concrete piers, and Frank worked with his architect to find a solution and place it elsewhere. I'd hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

Mr. Porch did an amazing job. Frank was courteous and very professional, he made himself available to answer questions and walk me through the plans. He even offered to come to our condo association meeting to walk everyone through the architectural plans. He communicated effectively the steps of the process and kept me informed as to what was going to happen. The foreman and his crew were professional and daily left my back yard clean and organized. They finished the job within the time they stated from the beginning. The porch is exactly what I expected and fits the needs of the building, and best of all... up to code!! The price was affordable and competitive.

Everything went very smoothly.
The demo was done in close to one day with a very effective and respectful crew. They cleaned everything up after the work and came back to make all the necessary small fixes to make sure we were happy with the aesthetics. The porch looks great now and is up to code and safe.
Frank and Peter always made sure to reply to us promptly and made sure that we were happy with the results.

"Thank you member for your review, unfortunately everything you've said here is false. first of all we don't loose paper work that has been emailed to you or set within our database, this is on google forever, second of all I'm not sure what your talking about with the brick work not being completed this was completed before we completely finished the rear deck, I think you were talking about the drywall work on the inside which was not on the contract but we still did it for you at no extra charge. your husband had a couple of concerns and punch list items and we completed them immediately. You gave us an F on punctuality but this should be changed, I don't believe there was one time we didn't show up when we said we were going to be there. Our crews were there everyday without missing until it was completed. The deck and brick work passed inspection with the city of Chicago with flying colors. I believe the real motive behind this review is you and your husband were friends with the sales employee Jeff that I had to fire due to reasons I can't mention, I hope Jeff is doing well and I'm disappointed that you would post this review almost 8 months after the work was completed. If you have any questions about your deck feel free to call the office at anytime and I hope your husband is enjoying his retirement and have a great summer"

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Frank. When we removed the siding off of the enclosed back porch, we discovered that the main corner beam was rotted to the roof. Frank came out late one afternoon and talked us through the repair options. He was informative and knowledgeable. The weather didn't cooperate (it was cold) but the guys came out and worked in the cold and even dug a huge hole in the (almost) frozen ground to place the new concrete footing in. After the initial repair was done, Frank came back to inspect and addressed all of our concerns re the details of the repair. He worked hard to get this job done in a timely manner, he answered our many phone calls in the course of this project and he delivered quality work.

Originally we thought that Mr. Porch was a no show, as our appointment came and went without anyone contacting us either by phone or at our unit for the estimate. The next day Mr. Porch contacted me to let us know that there was actually someone on site and he then provided me with an estimate. I would have like to have had the chance to speak with Mr. Porch as I had some questions that I wanted addressed and he has since offered to meet to discuss the estimate.

This is the second time I've used Mr Porch. Based on my great experience the first time, I did not even get multiple quotes for this project. Frank, who came out to scope the project, is great to work with. Extremely friendly and accommodating. We communicated via email and phone to finalize the scope, which took a couple weeks. However, once scheduled, the work was completed in a day. The carpenter was the same person who worked on our last project so he was familiar with the house. I was concerned about how the board ends would look on the decking edge at the top of the stairs, but he fit a smaller piece of trex along the edge and it came out great. He also cut out a couple small trees that were growing under the porch so we wouldn't have problems later. At the end of the day he cleaned everything up. Extremely professional. For about the same price as it would have cost to strip and repaint the old decking we now have a porch and stairs that will last for many years!

Overall a great experience with Mr. Porch to rebuild our back deck. We found them to be very price competitive, responsive and the crew was very nice and worked quickly. Whenever we had questions, they were very quick to address any concerns. The new porch looks great. We would definitely use them again.

Mr Porch did an excellent job. We got 4 bids - all from Angies list. -MR PORCHES was the lowest with the lowest down payment and the best terms. They allowed us to pay with the corporate credit card. Which I like to do for added protection and to get the air miles. The price was all inclusive of the architectural plans which was convenient - some of the bids separated the two and you had to pay two different companies. They got all the requisite permits and surveys expexitiously, they started on time and completed on time with no delays and we passed the City of Chicago inspection with flying colors. The porch looks great! We are very happy, as are our tenants. We give Mr Porch our highest rating (A+) and would recommend them highly without reservation.

Everyone at Mr Porch was professional and prompt at inspecting, quoting, answering my many concerns and building a great porch for the back door of my house. The only issues I had was waiting for them to call me back after everything was agreed upon. I found out they were waiting to receive my payment. Once that was resolved over the phone they were here and done super quick. Another contractor recommended by my insurance agent quoted a much, much higher total and then disappeared with my $400 deposit. Other contractors seemed very suspicious as well so I was really paranoid by the time I asked Mr Porch a quote.
I wish I had called Mr Porch in the first place. Great professionals who under-promise and over deliver.

The contact I dealt with was very friendly, but his office is extremely disorganized. Basically, they do not communicate at all unless you initiate it first, and even then it takes several communications to get a response. I waited a long time after sending them a check (which they were happy to cash) before they acknowledged my payment or even attempted to schedule the work. They only scheduled because I threatened to write a negative review like this if they didn't move on the work. Now the pergola is completed and I am waiting to get it stained. I have contacted them twice with no response so far. The good news is that they only have 50 percent of the payment so far, but I am stuck with a pergola that isn't stained and isn't usable until it gets stained (because I have no furniture on it while I wait for it to be completed). I am willing to amend this review to a more favorable one if they finally finish this project, but I am skeptical that will happen at this point.

Mr. Porch has done an excellent job replacing our front porch. We have a single family frame home on a standard Chicago lot. We received estimates from 4 companies and all were within the same price range. The estimate from Mr. Porch included permit applications and renderings. We liked that Frank was upfront and honest about what he could and couldn't do within the scope of the city code. We also liked that he was professional and open to negotiate with on the details of the contract. The tear-down and rebuild were done quickly. The project manager touched base with us to confirm the details and worked with us to make a few changes as the project progressed. They were also quick to follow up with a few detailed corrections that we wanted after the porch was complete. A dumpster was placed and the front was kept clean for the duration of the project. The porch is sturdy and very well built. The office staff has been extremely responsive and very pleasant to work with. We would highly recommend this company.

AMAZING!!!! Frank was a joy to work with through the proposal process. His worker (can't remember his name) was very friendly, kind and very knowledgable. Because we were putting in a floating deck, the whole space was going to be raised slightly above the bottom of the railing. His worker was fantastic at putting the finishing touches around the edges of the raised platform giving the whole project a finished feel.
The new desk is sturdy, looks great and I would use Mr. Porch again for any work that I need to have done.
