Mid City Locksmiths Inc

Their old location was vacant so I thought they had closed. Thankfully, I stumbled upon their new location. I spoke to Mr Petersen about the work I wanted done and he checked out the locks I bought so I was sure they would be able to be used. He gave me a rough estimate for the job. Later, I confirmed an appointment with his son Wayne. On the day of the appointment he showed up on time, kept me informed along the way, and confirmed any part of the job there might be a question on. When it came time to pay, the bill was less than the rough estimate given. It was also way less that estimates given by others.

I got a few phone numbers from Angie's List and had no luck with two of them either because no one answered or because I was told no one was available at that time (about 5 pm) to come to my home.  I left a message at Mid-City Locks and was called back within about 10 minutes.  The gentleman arrived within about 20 minutes and, after looking at the lock and trying a few keys I had available  none of which worked, told me the cost and asked if I wanted to proceed.  

I felt I had no choice so he went to get his tools.  I sat on the back stairway while he worked.  It took some time - I'm guessing from 10-15 minutes of much banging and wrangling to get the whole door knob off the door.  Once inside, I found a key that worked which allowed him to replace the whole doorknob assembly with no difficulty.  Amazingly, there was no sign afterwards that he had worked on the door - not a paint scrape nor a dent.  The only difficulty was the $125 charge which he said was the price for that kind of lock. It had a Schlage key if that is helpful to know.

The rest of the story is that my husband and I went through all the extra keys we have around and got rid of many unnecessary ones, clearly marked the ones we do need and had copies made of a couple that were one of a kind.  As we talked over this whole process the next day, I had this image in my mind of having a kitchen door key in my backpack and went to check.  Believe it or not, I had the needed key all along in my backpack which was with me at the time.  I attributed my poor memory about the key to my not feeling well at all when I got home that day.  

Needed a key copied. I've given up on the big chain stores for key-making since I'd often get home and the new keys didn't work.
Now I get keys made only at locksmith services. This particular key was somewhat unusual, but the man made a nicely working copy.
The place is nothing fancy, but service was quick and polite.

Wayne was great to work with, both in setting up the appointment and in doing the actual work. Very friendly, professional, and gave us options--for example, a few of the locks couldn't be keyed to the other ones because they were the wrong type, so he quoted us the price to replace the locks altogether and gave us the choice. The price was very reasonable and so we did end up having him replace the locks so that they could be keyed to match the others.

Wayne is great to work with.  He did a very nice job, made good suggestions and performed great work.  I've used him several times and will continue to use him as my go-to locksmith. 

We called mid-city and explained that we lost the key to the door leading into our garage. They told us to come in and pick up some skeleton keys and try them on our door. We did and one of them opened the lock. We then returned the keys. Since it wasn't necessary for them to come to our home there wasn't a charge for this service. They were very friendly.

I had stopped in at Mid-City Locksmiths the week before and set up a time when they could come to our new home and re-key our locks. The locksmith arrived right on schedule and did the work in a professional manner. Everything works great, the price was right, and we will definitely use them in the future.

Had a great experience with Mid-City. They re-keyed 7 locks at our house and installed a new deadbolt. Work was completed fast and economically. Would repeat.

Very pleased with the work. He is the only locksmith that I have found that does work on old skeleton key locks, and even cuts skeleton keys. He was fast and his prices were very fair.

WAYNE WORKED EFFICIENTLY. MID-CITY IS A GOOD VALUE.

THE COMPANY IS A FATHER AND SON TEAM. THEY EACH HAVE MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. I REALLY LIKED THE WORK THAT THEY DID. THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND CLEAN. I THOUGHT THEIR PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
