I usually buy my Lexus' out in the "burbs," but this last Lexus I bought in the city because they had what I wanted.They were not up to the normal Lexus. I know what I am saying because I have driven Lexus' for the last 20 years. In comparison to most Lexus dealers I did not like them. They did a couple of things I did not like. One of them was I had asked them specifically not to run my credit report because we were paying cash. Every time somebody runs your credit report it knocks you down a couple of points. I mean, there is nothing wrong with my credit report, but why run it when we were paying cash for the car? They tell you these lies that they have to do it because of the Patriot Act and all that. My husband is an attorney and I know that is not right. I signed a bunch of forms that the salesperson gave to me and among them was a form acknowledging that they could run a credit report. I did not realize is signed it. But they had already assured me they would not run the credit report so I don't feel like being lied to. It was just little things, like they told me the tank would be filled with gas. Normally I would not complain about something like that. They lost us as a customer. The price was decent. We had to wait some to get the car.
As a follow-up to the dealer's response, we took the opportunity to call John at McGrath Lexus. He listened and apologized for the communication and service issues. It was a good call and I commend McGrath for responding and reaching out. We'll see how it goes from here and whether we return to the dealer for service or even to buy a car.

No problems after visit
Have been going to this dealer since 2002--have had 2 cars both purchased there and all service done there
Excellent customer service and the quality of work done has always been complete, without problems after the service was performed.
But it didn't matter, because even though I arranged alternate transportation, they told me later in the day that they didn't have the parts to perform the recall.
I brought the vehicle back on the weekend (again, no loaner available), where they performed the recall work. They let me know that my rotors were warped and needed to be replaced under warranty. I would only have to pay for the replacement brake pads and labor for that part of the job.
My invoice showed that lexus was charged for new rotors and for their replacement. However, I was charged for brake pads, their replacement, and the labor to machine (condition) the rotors and take them off and re-install them. Their explanation was only that it was how the computer described the work, but that I wasn't being charged for it. It smelled very fishy to me, so I asked them what the invoice would have looked like if they actually were going to charge me for the work. They said it would be no different. Same cost, same effort. The cost wasn't huge (in the $400 range), but it looked an awful lot like they were double dipping - charging both me and Lexus for the same work.
They weren't willing to explain what was happening with their invoice.
A few other words of warning:
* The place is filthy. It's worse than any non-luxury dealership I've ever been to
* Compared to other Lexus dealerships (specifically Johnson Lexus in Raleigh/Durham), the level of professionalism, courtesy, and customer focus is sorely lacking.
* While you're waiting for your car, the waiting area is sub-par. Wifi is firewalled to death, only basic coffee is free.
I've been taking my car to a Toyota dealership for service. Overall, a much better experience. Prices that are fair, more patient service team members, and nicer facilities.
Avoid this dealership.
