This was the first time I had my car serviced at Lefty's. They were very professional, taking the time to explain clearly before beginning the work what the technical details relating to the job were. They charged me only the price that they had initially quoted and had it ready for me to pickup at the time they stated. Everything was straight forward. I was even offered a lift back to my house as I was leaving the car at the shop preparatory to having it repaired.  Since the weather was nice, I turned down this thoughtful gesture, since I needed the exercise. However, I might take them up on the offer next time, if it's in the middle of winter.  Another convenient point to note is that Lefty's is within easy walking distance to the Metra Forest Glen commuter train station.

Efficient and timely repair and even gave me a loaner to use while repairs were being made.

The guy came to my house and checked out my car.  It turns out it was no big deal, but he saved me SO much hassle by not having to automatically get my car towed to the dealership, only for the dealership to turn around and tell me it was no big deal.  Lefty's customer service cannot be beat, and I cannot say enough good things about them!  Thanks Bill!!

Went very well.  Took my truck in after evaluating work to be done.  Described specifically what had to be done and costs.  Did the work promptly as I waited.  Bill and Jim were very professional and courtious .

They are honest with the diagnosis. I had a car which I took somewhere and was told that the engine was shot and that I should look at a new car but they fixed that same car for about 300 dollars. It has been running for 25,000 miles more yet it was supposed to be trashed.

I thought they did good service. They are efficient and they call you back. If you contact them they get back to you promptly. They did the service when it was scheduled in a timely manner. I would use them again.

It appears many shops just want to replace these parts when they were in tact but just needed to be secured back in place. I was quoted new dealer part prices plus labor w/o any options at another place. I believe that we are the product of our experience.  Jim manages Leftys and listened intently and sight unseen managed to ease my mind! I was able to get in the shop and sure enough, his knowledge and background experience in his field of mechanics secured the shield and gave me a go-to place in the future.   If it wasn't for Angies list, I probably would have opted for the $250.00 plus I was quoted by another shop. I take away from this experience a feeling of validation!  Our transportation ability should be compared to our health industry.  Every possible option should be conveyed before a last resort is applied!  Without our vehicles, our independence is compromised and we our at the mercy of our repair shops! I was treated with respect and given a great explanation as to what is needed. The topping on the cake was ultimately the price! Jim should be proud of himself.....

He did an oil change on the car, and gave me a free diagnostic with estimate of repairs that need to be done on the car.  His diagnostic results were accurate with what I know needs to be repaired.  His prices were 5-10% higher than other estimates I had received for the same work.

It went really well and I was very happy with that.  I used them a couple of times because the price was reasonable and the service was really quite good.

It was cold/damp and my ABS light went on when i started my car Friday night and my regular mechanic was closed.   i thought i may have been because of the weather.  i called Lefty's and they said to bring it in Saturday morning which was nice to be able to accommodate me.  When I started the car Saturday morning there was no red light anymore but i took it there anyway since my mechanic doesn't work Saturdays.  They convinced me i REALLY needed new brake shoes right then and there - made me feel like i'd be in trouble if i drove.
My regular mechanic had said i'd need brake shoes within a year but Lefty's made me  afraid to drive.  I think that is extremely unprofessional to force someone to have a repair done when it wasn't 100% necessary right at that time.  i felt taken advantange because I'm female so I'm sticking with my mechanic even though he's far away.

I am very happy with their service.  I think they are very honest people and I’ve never had a bad experience with them.

I went with the original recommendation of having the brakes resurfaced.  However, it led to problems later and I had to return to get them replaced.  Thankfully, Lefty's was very good about it and only charged me for the parts the second time and didn't charge me for the labor.  They owned up to what happened the first time.  They are very professional.  Their prices are standard, but they didn't shaft me like a brakes place in Charlotte used to do, which basically did a poor job resurfacing the brakes and charged me a ridiculous amount for them.  Lefty's definitely deserves points for honesty, a rare find in car repair shops as we all know.
