Clearly identified the issues with the building. We had asked for a report but due to the extent of the problems, Ken offered not to write the report and only charge us for his time on site.

He was very professional and able to give me the information I requested within days of his coming to the property. In addition, his services were extremely reasonable. I would absolutely utilize him in the future

Ken was responsive and professional when I contacted him to get his help. We have a wall we want to remove that several contractors (here for other work) commented was not load bearing and could just be removed. Our house is also 50 years old and has experienced a lot of settling, so we wanted to see if there were any issues we didn't notice ourselves. Ken came over and looked at the wall along with what is above and below it. He confirmed that it is not load bearing, but the ceiling would sag over time if we removed it as the joists in the attic are not strong enough to support the weight. He also noticed some cracked joists in the basement and some minor issues with outside masonry. Ken provided a detailed report that explains what needs to be done to each of the problems. He was also responsive to some follow up questions I emailed to him.

We are a small, self-managed condo association. One of our owners removed a wall from a unit causing the floor in the unit above to sink considerable. We hired K Eng to assess the damage and determine what needed to be done. Ken had to come out several times in order to see what he needed . The owner at fault for the damage was not cooperative in this process, and Ken had to make his initial survey through the floor of the unit above. His report was thorough and understandable. We have since hired him as the engineer to plan and supervise the repairs needed (several support beams need to be replaced). His rates are reasonable and affordable and his work is worth the money.

After speaking with and getting some high bids and crazy stories from a couple of structural engineers, I turned to Angie. I called Ken on Wednesday and had the report on that Friday. He was straightforward with pricing on the telephone and set up a time meet with my custodian at the site the next day. By the end of the week (2 days later) I had the report and necessary forms in my e-mail inbox. Online payment and acceptance of credit cards was also a plus.

After a couple phone conversations and the review of a proposal for services, Ken came out to the property to inspect the first floor for visible signs of settling, assess potential damage to the structure itself and provide recommendations for possible courses of action. Ken was professional, helpful and willing to answer all my questions. When he got to the house, he inspected the property with my GC by his side. Ken's report was detailed, included pictures and provided a number of areas where we could make improvements to counteract the settling. While his prices don't seem to be negotiable and his contract is a bit buyer-unfriendly in my opinion, I'd definitely recommend Ken's services to others.

Ken responded to my e-mailed request quickly and was able to schedule an appointment within our attorney review period. He gave us a thorough assessment of the building's condition and had a written report to us within 24 hours.

Ken was candid, detailed and forthright about the extent and cause of our structural issues and what we would need to do to resolve them. While we had brought him in to look at a few specific issues, Ken also took a look at the exterior of the home and provided information about some exterior issues that we were not aware of. He also offered some advice as to how to navigate the city offices to obtain the correct permits. Ken was very prompt in his communication, showed up on time and offered his full attention to the job while he was at hand. As a first-time homeowner, I asked him several questions that I'm sure were pretty elementary, but he was respectful and courteous throughout the entire experience and went out of his way to clearly communicate what was going on with the house. To that end, I learned a lot about my home that I wasn't aware of beforehand, and left the experience reassured and empowered to tackle the issues. It was money well spent for an objective evaluation that can lead to us saving more money in contractor fees in the future.

They were very prompt in responding to my email. The entire communication was through emails. He arrived as per the schedule. The job took 15 minutes. He is very thorough. We are happy with his service.

Ken came out to look at the kitchen renovations we have in process in our new condo. These renovations included the removal of a wall. Our neighbors thought it was a load-bearing wall, our architect and contractors said it was not, so the board was requiring an engineer report to make sure everything was structurally sound. Ken responded to my request promptly, was able to come out within a few days, and not only gave an assessment of the wall in question but also gave lots of other insight and advice about other parts of our renovation and the how structurally sound certain common elements are. He had a lot of informative things to say about how historical buildings like ours were built. It was pleasant to talk to him, and a relief to discover our contractors were not only doing what they needed to, but were in fact, going above and beyond what was called for. He wrote up his report within a couple of hours, including photographs. He also provided a revision promptly, even though he was under no obligation to offer it. I regret the situation that led to my needing to call him, but am happy to have worked with Ken.

Considering what a terrible situation I found myself in, in terms of a potential building collapse, Ken provided me with exactly what was required and in a very timely and professional manner. We are now reviewing our options to raise the building to its original elevation, and will likely use Ken's services depending upon what engineering may be required. His report will likely be helpful should the need to litigate arise and I have no doubts that Ken's opinions will provide us with a straightforward way out of this situation without the pitfalls we experienced earlier in the project.

Ken provided us with exactly what we needed. We wanted to be sure of what was necessary before we hired a contractor to come in and do the work. A little costly maybe, but worth it for the peace of mind. He showed up to his scheduled appointment, was very thorough in his examinations and measurements and, because our project was a small one, he included rough drawings in the cost for the initial visit. He faxed us the drawings promptly.

Ken determined that the 2nd floor wall was not load bearing and therefore could be moved. He also told us our posts were fine. After he left, we examined the posts again ourselves and we were certain there was definitely dry rot. We did not agree with his assessment, and went ahead with the post replacement. We are unsure why he told us the posts were fine, when they could be hacked away at with a pen easily. We felt like he didn't take our concerns seriously.

Ken was very easy to work with and very responsive. He was also significantly less expensive than two other companies we had quoted to do the same work.

Ken really knows what's he's doing. Very professional. I would definitely recommend him.
