Johns Electric Troubleshooting

John was prompt and found the dead short in my house wiring. This problem was going on for months with 3 other contractors who could not fix this issue. John was great, explained everything, and found the problem quickly. I will definitely use him again.

There were some weather delays but John was professional & courteous and did perfect work.

Admittedly we were lucky as John had a smaller job that morning and was able to come over by late morning and spent time making repairs and leaving us with the satisfaction that the job was done well. John did not require a fee to assess the job before he began as other electrical contractors can sometimes charge. It was a pleasure working with John.

Not sure if the problem is solved long term as there was no 'smoking gun' but I trust his knowledge and experience.

John communicates well (by txt), shows up quick, does the job. A friendly, competent guy, not averse to small jobs.

We called John because his company name "Electric Troubleshooting" was exactly what we needed. We lost power to parts of our garage and basement, but it wasn't as simple as a circuit breaker being tripped. Some parts of the same circuit were continuing to function. John came out the very day I called him and spent some time trying to locate the source of the problem. He was able to rule out some things, but hadn't quite pinpointed it, and needed to get to a prior scheduled appointment, so we arranged for him to come back again. Ultimately, by testing wires between different junction boxes, he was able to determine that a very old wire with cloth insulation had shorted out and actually broken due to its exposure to moisture. A conduit that is encased in concrete had, over the last 65 years since the house was built, accumulated enough moisture to rust through. John was able to replace the old wire by pulling a new one that has waterproof insulation through the conduit. Everything works perfectly now. John is a nice friendly guy who really knows his stuff. We are hiring him again, to install an outside light fixture near our grill.

We had a sparking light switch (thankfully turned out not to be a big deal) and John came over with short notice to fix it. He fixed the issue and was also an extremely nice guy! We will definitely utilize his services in the future.

John was able to meet us the same evening that we called; he kept us informed about his arrival time, and worked very quickly when he arrived to diagnose our problem. It was a loose wire connecting our circuit breaker box to the power supply, which he was able to repair during his visit. The whole time he was very professional and friendly, and his fees were exactly as stated on his website. He sent a followup message the next day to make sure everything was still working properly. We felt lucky to find him and would definitely use his services again in the future.

I absolutely couldn't recommend anyone more than John! Around 5pm on a Saturday my breakers blew the entire house four times in an hour with no explanation. I randomly started calling Yelp electricians and John was immediately responsive and here with the part I needed in under an hour! He's incredibly friendly, professional, smart and gave me all the options, including the "cheap" fix and the way he would recommend. Best of all he hooked me up with a fix that will last until we can get it done properly! Best of all, his rate (which could/should have been an after hours emergency rate) + parts was so reasonable.

Great. First he replaced the breaker but dishwasher was still dead.
Then he inspected the dishwasher connection and found a blown fuseand replaced that. Still no dishwasher.
Finally he redid the wire connections and the DISHWASHER WORKED!!
He charged me the trip charge,that's all.

I had scheduled an appointment for a plumber and part of their work was going to be to install a garbage disposal. Realized I need to get the electrical switch installed first. Not wanting to undo the plumber appointment, I searched for someone nearby who might be able to come over and help.
John responded immediately and despite saying he was headed out on vacation, he met me early on a Saturday morning to get the job done.
He was great. Very prompt, reasonable and professional.
I will use him in the future for other, upcoming electrical needs.

Before joining angies list I had difficulty finding a contractor that would come to the city. We were quoted all kinds of ridiucoulous prices from contractor over the phone.
I joined angies list, found Johns Electric troubleshooting, called him up, set an appointment and was amazed that he agreed to come and also said that his extimates are free.
Just love doing business with an expereinced professional who enjoys his job.

I called John one day and he responded back immediately. Arranged to meet at the building one day. Looked at our intercom panel, saw that some connections were corroded. He recommended replacing the panel. Gave a quote, agreed on service. Came next week with parts and installed. Cheaper than he initially estimated, passed along the savings to us. Even came back later to collect payment and check system. Great work.

John, is the best...quick to respond to my call and quick to find the problem. The intercom system was up and running minutes after John arrived. I run three old buildings and will only call John for all my electrical issues.

John did an excellent job installing new can lights and pendant lights for our home remodel. He is friendly, punctual, professional, and very informative. He openly communicated with us throughout the project and even helped correct a wiring issue that a previous contractor tried to hide. We couldn't be happier with the results of his work and definitely give him our highest recommendation. For any electrical projects big or small, John is the guy to call.

It went very well because John knows what he is doing. Since the current lamp was probably the original, it was quite corroded and difficult to remove but John got it off and did what was necessary to secure the new lamp. He added a box and filled in some space between the brick and box with calking (or something like calking) to make sure it fit snuggly against the brick. It looks great! I have used John for electrical projects in my former condo and now in my single family home and I will continue to hire him. I'm probably not using the right terminology (i.e. box, calking) but just know that John is the best electrician I've ever hired.

John did an excellent job with these projects. He was on time, professional, polite, courteous and on-budget. Very knowledgeable and trustworthy. No surprises at all during the estimating, actual work, or final bill once the projects were completed. I would not hesitate to use John's Electric again in the future.

John was great from the moment I called him. We were stood up by another repair-person so John came on short notice. He was upfront and honest about not being familiar with our system, but agreed to look at the wiring anyway. He helped pinpoint the exact problem and explained every step in detail so I could explain things to the phone company (because it was the phone line that was the problem and the responsibility of the phone provider to fix). I was able to call the phone company and get the problem resolved the same day after I was able to exactly explain the problem as John had explained it to me. I would use him again in a second.

John answered the phone and was able to come over right away. (Called at 18:00) He diagnosed the problem. He identified that one of the ComEd feeds had failed. He also replaced a broken circuit, and to go to his shop and returned 20 minutes later. Very professional.

He is extremely knowledgeable and very customer service oriented. He is reasonable in his rates.

I have used him for about ten years. He is absolutely excellent. He is extremely knowledgeable about his craft. He is fast and efficient. He is very hard working. He has a tendency to run a little late, but he always gets the job done when he says that he will.
