3/12/14 Update:

A year after the fence/gate was installed, the electronic gate opener stopped working. We have spent over $700 in repairman fees over the last 4 months to figure out why the opener does not work. During the process we learned that we were sold a product that was discontinued and was already 4 years old (control box date stamped 9 11 2008) when it was installed. Finally, the warranty had already expired one year prior to Iron Castle's installation in 2012.

After numerous attempts calling Iron Castle, the electronic gate open still does not work and there has been little to no response from Iron Castle.

Initial review:

I got a quote from Iron Castle and two other firms. Iron Castle was lower in cost and much more responsive from the beginning. I asked for references even though I read the reviews on Angie's List. The references were very good so I selected Iron Castle for the work. They started the work on the day they said and followed the fence design per the drawings. And they used the specified material and sizes even though it created a very heavy driveway gate that required extra supports. An automatic gate open was also installed and their electrical sub-contractor made the connections. I was concerned that I would have troubles with the gate opener like some of my neighbors experience with theirs, but so far it has worked flawlessly. I am very satisfied with Iron Castle and have received many compliments on the fence.

Representative from Iron Castle was very professional, provided a prompt quote, and actually completed the work early as he was in the neighborhood installing a gate for someone else. We came home one night and it was done - viola!

The representative came out late in the afternoon on a Saturday - he showed a few pictures of railings and meaured the concrete steps - he then in turn gave me an estimate that was extremely inflated - I have had several companies come out for estimates and theirs was the highest.

The service was excellent. The price was reasonable. They were professional and courteous. They were careful about the grounds. They were very good and I would use them again.

It went very well but I am still deciding on the job.

Horrible experience! I contacted Iron Castle to request a air conditioiner cage estimate. I asked if the estimate could be provided without my being home since the unit is outside in the yard. The woman I spoke to called me back stating that I had to have an appointment which was for set for Saturday, 7/2 between 11:00a-11:30a. The appointment was confirmed the day prior as well. The day of the appointment, I called Iron Castle at 11:30a because they still hadn't arrived at my home. I was told they would be at my home within 20 minutes after that call. The excuse that I was given was that a "contract" took precedence over my appointment. I explained to the representative that I changed my entire work schedule for the day to make this appointment and that I didn't care what was going on and they had a obligation to arrive at the agreed upon time. I told her I would only wait 20 minutes more for the person to arrive--honoring their request. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, I received another phone call telling me that he was not going to make it. I was then told that I didn't need to be home for the appointment. I explained that I asked for that arrangement in the first place. The unprofessionalism of this company costed me half a day of work, unnecessary frustration and inconvenience. I am furious and would caution anyone who makes an appointment with this company because they are not respectful of your time.

Everything went extremely well. Maria called me back to set up an appointment for an estimate with Tony with in a day. IC sent me a quote within a week. I had reached out to 3 other "rated" companies on Angies list. 2 had been able to complete appointments for estimates within a week and the 3rd had canceled and rescheduled several times. Iron Castles quote ended up being the highest, but they took the time to prepare a legitimate quote with pictures and details so that i knew what i was getting. They also had a larger selection and Tony was more engaged to make sure I got what i wanted and also made suggestions that looked better after the project was completed. Perfect example of "you get what you pay for". They commanded a fair price and provide great service and great quality. My neighbor liked them so much that she had them replace their 2 year old wood gate with an iron gate with a cedar board and batten trim, just like my back gate.

Iron Fence was contacted for an estimate for insurance work for a small section of residntial chain link fencing. Maria at the office explained that estimators were in the field, but made phone calls for appointments upon return later in the day. An estimator called two days later. His English was heavily accented and it was quite diffiult understanding him on the phone. He was early for the appointment, which was fine. My husband spoke with him, stating he understood him. My husband came back without a written estimate. The estimator explained to him that insurance companies preferred nicely typed estimates over handwritten ones. He stated that the office would call for my email address for the typed estimate. The following week, Maria called for my email address. My name is common, but often misspelled, as is my ISP. I cautioned Maria about this, stressing that my name and ISP had to be spelled correctly or the email would not arrive. I spelled out everything---except the .net---TWICE, and she spelled it back correctly. To date, I have received no estimate. Totally blown off. It seemed odd to me that the estimator did not request my email address onsite. He also could have provided his handwritten etimate, while we awaited the typed one. As for the emailed estimate, if Maria had ended up misspelling anything, and the email returned, I would have expected a phone call rechecking the address. Barring all else, the promised typed estimate could have been delivered via old-fashioned snail mail. Given the glowing reviews, I am gravely disappointed in the utter lack of courtesy and professionalism exhibited by Iron Castle. I wasn't going to bother submitting a report as the lone dissenting voice. I suspect we're not the only ones experiencing such dissmissive behavior. Someone's got to be first. I doubt we're the last.

I chose them because they had a good rating and they were good with the follow up. They fixed the wrought iron fence. They got the job done and they did a pretty good job. Their quality of work is good. I would use them again in the future.

It was pretty fast. I called them on Monday and they came out the same day and then by Friday everything was installed. The people were pretty much cool, they were great guys and they cracked jokes. They were very professional. They covered up everything with their own plastic so no dust or anything else. They were really good. Their price was fair. I would use them again in the future if need be.

They did a great job. They were delightful, wonderful, helpful and took great pride in their work.

They were good and I did not have any problems with them. They were responsive and got back to me right away. I would recommend them to other members.

Tony came out on a Saturday to provide an estimate and arrived early for the appointment. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions clearly. After submission of 50% deposit, work was promptly scheduled. Repair was actually performed early (!) given that Iron Castle had a fence installation around the corner earlier in the week than our scheduled appointment. Gate no longer sticks, always closes, and is very quiet. Maria, who answers the phones at Iron Castle, was incredibly helpful whenever we spoke. I would definitely use Iron Castle again and would recommend their services to anyone needed fence or gate installation or repair.

I called Iron Castle to provide an estimate on installing a gate closer on a wrought iron fence and gate. The previous gate was standing open or swinging closed suddenly and loudly; neither was providing the type of security we desired for our building. Not only did Iron Castle provide the lowest quote of the four companies I called, but they sent it via e-mail and answered my questions when I called to clarify a few things. The work was completed on time, on cost and is exactly what we wanted and expected.

Overall, I was very, very pleased with the work Iron Castle did. He came out, explained our options, gave us an estimate, provided drawings, etc. He installed the gates on Saturday but he came out the week before to measure and even install the gate frame (the concrete needed to solidify). The only complaint I have is that they said they would be to the house on Saturday between 9 and 10 and they did not get there until after 11. However, they did good work. There was one section that I was not happy with (where the old gate met the new gate). It was not their fault, but they came back the next day and fixed the existing section of gate so it was consistent with the new section. They did not have to do it; it was extra work, but they did not charge me any extra. Great experience.

Iron Castle is an amazing example of a family-owned business that takes immense pride in their iron-work craft. From design to fabrication to installation, no detail is left unconsidered. After they did a top-notch job installing our wrought-iron fence at a reasonable price, we asked if they could design a complex and contemporary loft-like railing system for our 3 story staircase. Iron Castle fabricated functional works of art! But watching Iron Castle install and make slight adjustments on-site was where I witnessed first-hand Iron Castle's sensitivity to form, function, and above all, safety. The men were uniformly polite and a delight to have around. They even designed safety gates for the stairwell openings that were no less beautiful and functional. This job was much more involved than we first realized yet Iron Castle never tried to change their initial quote. I have never been more impressed with a contractor's attitude and craftsmanship. A first-class company!
