hardwood floor
 + -1 moreThe work started on a Tuesday - workers showed up every day promptly when told (between 8 and 9 a.m. depending on my schedule) and worked anywhere from 5-7 p.m. depending on my schedule. Workers were extremely consciencous and hardworking. Flooring is a very messy job and they managed to keep things tidy (cleaning up after themselves often and protecting and taping off areas not involved in flooring job). Installation was completed by Thursday. Sanding started on Friday and went into Saturday a.m. Staining started on Saturday and 1st coat finishing Saturday p.m. - second coat Sunday a.m. I opted for only 2 coats because we were using such a strong oil based finish (Synteko - a Swedish brand of finish - very strong). I was a little nervous about staining the hickory because it is such a hardwood - but when we returned home and opened the door, we were so happy with the results. It is a gorgeous floor. Truly a work of art. I wish I could post photos!!!
Description of Work: 700 sf of 4'' Hickory Flooring installed, stained and finished. 100 sf of 2 1/4'' maple flooring installed and finished. 125 sf of 3'' maple flooring installed on angle inside of 8'' character walnut border (inlay), installed, and finished. 13 Hickory stair treads, newel post and handrail stained and finished. Framed out area in foyer w/ hardwood for tile and around fireplace hearth. We supplied all of the hardwood - we used IL professional flooring for installation/staining/finishing. They will supply wood if you prefer - but I work for a lumber company and have access directly to flooring mill.
