We had Jim come over to give us a bid to remodel our kitchen. He was on time, very knowledgeable, and respectful of our time and home. He walked through everything and requested one of his electricians come over the following day to verfity the work that will be required to complete the remodel. This was so he could provide us with an accurate bid. He provided a quote to us within the week! (Of note, the designer who put us in contact with Jim told us he was more expensive than the majority of contractors in the area, but you pay for the excellent quality and craftsmanship he provides. Surprisingly, though, we received four bids with his being on the lower end of the spectrum.) Jim's reputation preceeded him and we truly liked his work ethic and demeaner. Unfortunately, the designer who referred us to him had consumed our $100,000 budget purely on materials and had not allocated any funds for the contractor. Therefore, any proposal given to us was simply out of our financial reach. We had to put the remodel on hold until we had a chance to completely redesign both of the spaces and revisit the materials that were chosen. I would like to make a comment regarding Jim's integrity -While we were trying to sort out the budget with the designer, she requested for us to contact Jim, a request we felt extremely uncomfortable with, to ask him to re-examine his proposal to find ways to decrease the price. We did this and he graciously responded by stating he would look over the proposal to see what he could do. This was not something he had to do, by any means. Again, we did not use him but this had nothing to do with his bid proposal or work. We simply felt it was not right for us to put him in an awkward position of working for us, but not use the designer who put us in contact with him. I would still recommend him.
