We are a full service commercial and residential Junk and Debris removal service. We are based on the Northwest Side of Chicago. We are large enough to handle any job but, small enough to care. We take pride in the fact that we are able to Recycle 88% of the items we collect. That means less items going to fill up the garbage dump. A true green alternative to our larger competitors. Our company is 100% insured including workers compensation. Most other junk haulers/contractors don't have the coverage we carry.

The staff from Great Junk Remove made it easy to clean out a garage to put the house on the market. Renee was friendly and very informative on the phone. The guys who came to remove the junk were strong, friendly and efficient.

Everything went super-smooth. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. After talking with Renee on the phone, to get an estimate, we agreed that it might be good for somebody to come out and look over what needed hauling away. Somebody came out the next afternoon. He estimated our junk at 9 cubic yards. I then agreed to hire Great Junk Removal. They were onsite 2 days later. The crew was great. They were careful in removing everything. Once they had the truck loaded, it came to 8 cubic yards. Since we were under the estimate, I asked them to haul away some more wood that I was planning to slowly dribble out for city pickup. We had a total of 10 cubic yards. The final bill came to $565, which included a $105 Heavy Charge, for the brick and concrete. Which Renee had advised me about upfront, on the phone.

Eric & Jay arrived right on time, worked quickly and got an overwhelming (to me!) job done right. But above and beyond - they were easy to work with. They were sensitive to my needs, saw that I was unable to work with them for long hours. They accommodated my schedule, put me at ease, and gave no judgment. I highly recommend them and I WILL call them again for another job.

I was quoted one price then was being charged another after speaking to the manager came to an agreement and had some of the materials removed but not all

Called Eric on a Wednesday;he provided a quote and was able to arrange an appointment for the following Friday. It was really easy, no hassles.
On Friday, Lane and Jay called first and then arrived right on time. They were very professional, courteous, neat, and worked quickly. As a bonus, they even offered to help me put a heavy item in my car. I appreciated their kindness so much!....and would not hesitate to use this company again.

I had a very good experience working with Eric. He provided a quote right away and found a time that was convenient for both of us. He arrived promptly, took care of the job with no problems, and gave me a fair price. I had a very good experience and would recommend him to others.

The bags were filled with carefully folded supermarket plastic bags, expired food, mailings from charities begging for money, gifts such as stickers, cards, blah blah blah from charities for the donations, clothes, washed boxes from delivered food, condiment packets, plastic bottles, on and on.
Besides the bags, there was a box spring and mattress, books, craft supplies, etc. The books and craft supplies were to be recycled and that was also handled by Lane and Jay. I'm not done, but I needed to create space and more staging and sorting area, so the guys had to step over and through belongings I hadn't gotten to yet.
They were respectful, and offered good suggestions. I only saw this situation on TV, but I wasn't surprised when I saw the apartment. I knew what I would see. After the shock, awe and smell, you have to get digging and figure it out. Eric and his team can help.
The truck they brought was not labeled with "Junk Removal, Hoarding, etc" and that discretion helped me too. Not that anyone was fooled. But still it helped.

I want to start off by saying this isn't a duplicate review - I had just recently hired Great Junk Removal on July 28th to clear out the upstairs of my parents' home in Illinois. I had just returned to my home in New Mexico when I received a call on Sunday from my parents' next door neighbor to let me know that a bad wind storm had come through that day and blew my parents' shed over.

I asked the neighbor if he could send me a picture so I could assess the damage, and see whether I could call some friends who lived in the area to maybe move it and secure it back down. After receiving the pictures, I knew it would need to be dismantled immediately, otherwise it may have tipped over onto the neighbor's sunroom if the winds picked up again.

I texted Eric 1st thing on Monday and sent him the neighbor's pictures. Eric immediately contacted me and said he would send someone over right away. When the guys arrived, they took more pictures and sent them to me. My goodness...looked like a mini-tornado went through the neighborhood.

The guys were able to dismantle the broken shed & remove the remaining items in the yard, just like I had requested. I paid for 1/2 a truck full which included labor, and again, it was worth every penny.

After the work was done, Eric was able to do a credit card phone payment since I was out-of-state. I didn't find out until later in our conversation that he was kind enough to do some rescheduling that day due to my circumstances. All I can say is a HUGE THANK YOU for being so accommodating! Eric was completely accessible by text during the entire process, which really put me at ease. He also immediately sent me a copy of my credit card receipt and invoice. Thank you again Eric and we look forward to calling you again this October to finish up the clean out of my parents' house.

I had to travel to Illinois to my parents' house to not only pack mom's belongings, but to also clean out close to 40 years worth of items she and my late father had accumulated. I called 3 different junk removal companies, and decided to go with Great Junk Removal. I based my decision on 3 factors:
1. Eric (the owner) had one of the largest size trucks;
2. The reviews given on Angie's List;
3. Eric's detailed explanation as to what to expect when I hire his company and also tips to save money and time.
The day of service, Lane and Jay showed up about 30 minutes early, but that wasn't a bothersome thing for me - I'd rather they be early than late, or not show at all. Lane was extremely professional & asked to do a walk-through with me so he could get a good idea of what steps he and his co-worker needed to take in order to clear out the upstairs of my parents' house.
They were efficient, polite and took great care not to damage the hardwood floors when removing all the big wood furniture. Lane followed my instructions to a 'T' as far as what I thought could be donated, and what I set aside as trash. He even made some money saving recommendations along the way.
My sister & I were extremely pleased with how quickly they were able to clear out all the items upstairs, as well as breaking down and removing a large metal dog run in the backyard, and cleaning out my parents' shed, all while doing this in blistering heat & humidity (of course we just had to schedule this during the hottest, most humid week of the summer so far), all while maintaining a professional, pleasant attitude throughout.
When finished, Lane did a final walk-through with me to ensure I was completely satisfied and payment was extremely easy (mobile credit card machine...yay!). With almost 40 years worth of stuff that needed to be removed in the upstairs of my parents' home, including the bulky stuff in the backyard and shed, I thought the cost was extremely fair and worth every penny (it took 2 full truckloads).
What I really liked most about this company is not only the efficiency, professionalism, politeness, and just overall great customer service provided by Eric, Lane and Jay, but the fact that Eric made money and time saving suggestions such as texting him pictures of what I wanted to get rid of, in case I wanted to get an even better estimate of what the cost might be. Eric was very accessible with texting (for those who prefer that type of technology) and I felt he tried to save us money wherever possible.
In all, I would highly recommend this company. Thank you Eric, Lane and Jay for all your help!

Eric was really great! Patient while it took me forever to find a date to have the work done, scheduled his guys to coordinate with my plumber, careful not to damage anything while taking that BIG HEAVY sink up a whole flight of stairs to the main level. Removed the door to get the sink out, and put it back on when done. All really nice guys. Did a great job!

I called Great Junk Removal on a Tuesday to pick up a pile of construction debris, and Eric was friendly and responsive. He asked me to send a photo of the debris, and then quoted me a price on removal. They came and picked up the pile the same day and sent me a picture of my now clean backyard. I called in my credit card number and was done!
This was the fastest, easiest service I've had the pleasure of using, I will use them for any type of junk removal in the future.

I went with Great Junk Removal after reading the review on Angies List. I couldn't be happier with the results. We had an entire home that we need cleared out. We thought we had removed all of the family heirlooms, but half way through the process. Eric called to say he found a couple of boxes that looked important. They were important, and valuable. Eric first did a 'walk-through' to determine the price as well as what could be saved or needed to be pitched. On the scheduled day, Eric and his team came in and cleaned/boxed the items to be saved and removed the rest. I trust his judgement and he and his team were very helpful.
