I really enjoy dealing with the people from Goode Plumbing. I recommend them to friends and relatives. I wish Mike had other craftsmen working for him that provide other services. With his high standards, I would hire him to remodel, paint, do electrical work, etc.
"Thank you SO much for your very kind words here, as well as for your loyalty and trust in us. This member has had us in her home for several other repairs and projects. As already mentioned by the member, she heard a rushing water sound. Based on the weather we have had recently, I figured on the phone that it was a burst pipe, caused from freezing and then thawing. When I arrived, the member had already been able to shut the water off about 90 percent. Her shut off valve for this section of piping was very old and was not working completely, so I replaced the valve as well as several sections of water supply piping that had split due to freezing. This was to an outside hose faucet, so I installed a separate shut off and drain valve so that she can prevent this from happening in the winter."
"Thank you very much for having me over to help with this service call. The issues here were two obstructed sinks-a bathroom and a kitchen. Normally, in an older home such as this one, the two are unrelated. Some remodeling had occurred at some point in this home's past, and these fixtures had been tied in together, even though they were relatively far apart. They had been connected in an unusual manner, so it took some investigating to find out just how this had been done, so that I could use a drain cleaning machine to get the line open. Everything went well, the owner was very pleasant to work for as well. I also appreciate your taking the time to write this review!"
I was very nervous calling a plumber as in the past (before becoming an Angie's List Member) I have been left feeling like I was ripped off. Mike did not make me feel that way at all. He was very trusting, honest and up front. If I ever run into a plumbing issue again, Goode Plumbing will be the people I call to fix the problem (And I will specifically ask for Mike). Thanks Guys!
"Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about us on Angie's List! This Member called me on a Sunday, and I set up an appointment that worked with his schedule. This was a little tougher job than normal. A lot of plumbers, from what I hear, shy away from older buildings, but my opinion is that some of the newer construction-say, the last 15 years or so, can be more difficult to service. It seems that a lot of the plumbing that was installed on some of these properties was installed with not much thought on future issues-such as this sink clog. I had to cut into a section of pipe due to the design of the drain work and the fact that the original plumber left no way to clean the pipe out. I added a clean out and a removable section for easy future rodding, should the need arise. I rodded the drain using a sectional Ridgid drain cleaning machine, reinstalled everything, and tested. I left the site clean after making sure the sink drained properly and did not leak. Thank you very much for the kind words, as well as allowing me to be of service to you. Mike Goode"
"Thank you so much for the work and this review. I was running a little behind that morning, and appreciate this Member's patience. I was able to repair the leak from the toilet, which turned out to be a breached wax ring under the bowl. I also adjusted the water level in the tank properly. We did go over some water heater questions, as well, as mentioned by the Member."
"I am very sorry to see a review like this. We are a relatively small shop, and I take it to heart when we have let someone down. We all want nothing but great results for every customer. I will say that we did have a change in receptionists recently. While our new receptionist was in training, we relied on our answering service, which admittedly did cause some delays and issues. We have our new receptionist, Carrie, in place, now. She answers our phones during normal business hours, so our response time is back to normal now. I do apologize also for your dissatisfaction. I have talked very seriously with our technician about all of the issues that you mentioned. As humans, we are not always perfect, try as we may, and I do apologize if he did not bring you the results you desired. The issue here was the water supply piping to much of the house was very old, galvanized piping, including to the tub/shower that he was working on. He did attempt to flush the valve body out. He could have tried tapping on the piping with a hammer with the valve apart and the water on-this is an old school trick to TEMPORARILY get pressure-and it is something that I have done, carefully, on occasion. My plumber was worried that doing that could cause damage and leakage, due to the age and apparent condition of the piping in question. He instead recommended that you replace the section of piping in this area, which you declined and decided to get a second opinion. This was a judgment call on the part of my plumber, and he did it because he did not feel that he should risk causing water damage to the home by hitting your very old piping with a hammer and causing a leak. I did speak with you on the phone after reading this review, and you did tell me that the other plumber did indeed bang on the piping and got the pressure temporarily better, but that he, too, agreed that the only way to permanently resolve this was by replacing the piping-something, again, that my plumber recommended as well. Our trucks are normally well stocked. Two parts runs should not have been required for this work, that I agree, and this is something that was discussed very seriously with my plumbing technician. Again, I am sorry for your dissatisfaction. My plumber did not want to risk causing damage to the house-the other plumber you called was willing to take that risk, but please know that the method he used could have potentially cost you quite a bit of money had luck gone the other way. I believe very strongly that customer satisfaction is a must, and because there were some valid points that this client had, I did offer her a refund. As always, we try our best. On the rare occasion we have a misstep, I welcome anyone to call me so that I can help resolve any issue, day or night, on (773) 407-1884. Thank you, Mike Goode, Goode Plumbing"
Even a great business can have an off day! After my initial review I immediately heard from Michael Goode. He was very apologetic and asked for a second chance after explaining that he had run into some office scheduling issues which he resolved. I am glad that he followed up. He was very professional, punctual, and in compensation for my time offered to do the job for the price of parts alone. A total class act.
It is rare to find really good tradesmen these days. My wife and I are now thrilled to have found Goode Plumbing. They will be our go-to plumbers from here forward.
"Member, I am SO very sorry that this happened. We have had a change in office staff recently, so it seems that we may have made a scheduling error. I know what it is like to wait home for a service person, and how frustrating it can be. I will call you today and see what can be done. I would love the opportunity to make this up to you, and will extend an offer of a service call to diagnose the issue with the pump at no cost. Again, I really and truly am sorry for this. Mike Goode (773) 407-1884"
"Thank you very much for having us out. I have to be honest in that the price quoted here was just for the diagnosis, and not for the actual repair. We still try to keep the repair prices reasonable, too. I am glad that you were happy with our work, and hope that we can be of assistance in the future should the need arise."
"Thank you for the review. The price quoted here was for repairing a kitchen sink drain pipe that was corroded completely through. This Member was kind enough to have hired me to replace piping under her kitchen sink on a prior visit, for a separate cost. On that first visit, I removed some plumbing that had been incorrectly installed, and installed new drain work with a proper design. On the second visit, I was called out to the home due to slow draining sink. Upon completing the drain cleaning, I checked for leaks and found there was indeed a major leak from a corroded pipe in the basement, which I cut out and replaced. Thank you for having me over to do these services for you, and for taking the time to write this review!"
"Thank you very much! We appreciate the service call. George has been a great fit for Goode Plumbing, with his commitment to customer service and quality work, and we appreciate your acknowledging this with your review here."
"We appreciate the fact that you chose us for this plumbing repair. George is the newest member of our team, but over the past several months, he has proven to be an excellent plumber and a good fit for our company, which strives for the ultimate in customer satisfaction-from updates on pricing and work, to leaving the job site clean and neat at the end of the job. Thank you very much for using us, and for taking the time to write about your experience with Goode Plumbing here."
"Thank you very much for the work as well as taking the time to give us a review on Angie's List. I did this work personally, and enjoyed both the service call as well as the conversation with this very pleasant homeowner. I replaced a fill valve, flapper, seal kit, and trip lever in a toilet and reinstalled a handle on a faucet that had come loose for this client. Thank you once again for using Goode Plumbing! Mike Goode"
"Thank you for rewarding me with the work in your home. Thank you also for your review of Goode Plumbing on Angie's List. I replaced the kitchen and bathroom faucets with replacement units that the homeowner provided. The bathroom faucet needed to be cut and chiseled off in order to be removed. I also replaced the leaking tubular sink drain work with new, high quality parts. I tested every thing upon completion."
"Thank you for rewarding us with this work! We appreciate this very much. As mentioned, Bob-who has been with us for several years now-rodded the main drain. This was done using a Ridgid K-1500 drain cleaning machine, which helps us do a very complete job. He also completed a couple of other smaller items as well. Thank you also for writing this review!"
"Thank you very much for the service call that you rewarded us with! The price posted here is missing a digit, if I am honest, but I am glad that this Member was happy with our work and service. Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of us here as well."
Original configuration of pipes under kitchen sink was very tricky, but Goode had the experience to fix this while minimizing disruption. New pipes were very good quality.
Goode was familiar with the challenges we had with our toilet - we have the toilet originally installed in our home, which must have been popular with developers 15-20 years ago, and the plumber was aware of the issues as soon as he saw the toilet, so came across as very experienced.
"Thank you very much for taking the time to review us here on Angie's List, and for rewarding us with the service call. Since we are focused on service work and unusual projects, we can often tell you which products we see repeatedly with issues or unusual features or designs. I am glad that we were able to get things sorted out, and appreciate your calling us."
"Thank you! We appreciate your business. As mentioned, this member has used us several times. Our goal is to build relationships such as this with our customers. We strive to make sure that our customers know that they have a plumber that they can depend on and trust, and appreciate the repeat business."
"Thank you for your review. We appreciate your having over to help with the plumbing service items!"
"Thank you so much for the very nice review! I appreciate your taking the time to write about us here, as well rewarding us with your business. Not long after this Member moved into her home, we installed a Hybrid water heater as well as several other repairs. Recently, we rodded the house drain, installed a high quality Toto toilet (which has a five year warranty), and installed a new shower head. All of us here at Goode Plumbing are thankful for your loyalty."
"Thank you very much for your very nice review, and for having us over to clean out your building drain and sewer. We used a Ridgid K1500 drain cleaning machine with several cutters to make passes to clean out this drain and sewer system. We appreciate your rewarding us with this service call!"
"Thank you very much for the service call! We try very hard to be on time, but in this case, we were admittedly late and for that I do apologize. I do value your business and will work to be more punctual should you have another plumbing issue come up. Thank you also for your review of us on Angie's List."
"Thank you, Member. I am glad that you were happy with our service. Having a good quality, licensed, professional plumber in one's home is usually not inexpensive, unfortunately, but we do our best to offer competitive rates while without sacrificing that quality, or customer service. We do appreciate your choice in using us, and for taking the time to review us on Angie's List!"
"Thank you, Member. I do appreciate the work. I was able to rod this client's kitchen and utility sink line to clear and obstruction. In addition, he had a toilet that was not working properly, which I repaired by installing a new fill valve, supply line, and adjusting the flapper. I do apologize for running behind. We do our best to give an accurate estimated time of arrival-but in this case, my previous job ran longer than expected. I do appreciate this Member's patience. Thank you for your review as well as the work that you rewarded me with."
"We appreciate the words and the work. We are always happy to explain things that we recommend, or that we have completed, at your home. There are often different options that we can offer as well, and can explain the pros and cons of each. We feel it is important that our clients are aware of what we are doing and why-it is never a bad thing to learn a little more about your home. The pump that Develle installed is a good, heavy duty unit that we cover for three years under warranty-both parts and labor are included. Thank you again!"
