They were I believe a bit aggressive on the work that needed to be done to start with; the engine cradle had a very minor scratch but they wanted it replaced. Fair enough I guess, insurance was paying and they must pay to restore the car to original condition. The paint job seems fine, but the front bumper is not properly aligned on the right side and there is a deep scratch on the lower part of the bumper. They dented the back right door. The car stinks inside. There was trash in the trunk/plastic parts and a screw, don't know they they come from, but certainly they had no job to do at the back of the car, I'll have to investigate where those parts are coming from/whether they screwed up something else. They were late one week over the initial job completion promise. Since I'm leaving the country in a few days and not be back for a few months, I can't comment on the amends they might do since I have no time to deal with that now. But I am very disappointed since this shop used to do great work, I have used them twice in the past w/o complaint.

Went to Gold Coast Auto Body in Chicago on the recommendation of my dealership.'Beautiful facility, professional courteous staff, but their estimate was almost double that of where I finally agreed to have the work done. They claimed the door frame was damaged, when my mirror was. This was not found to be the case in my 2 other estimates, claimed panel distortions that neither I or the other estimators saw, and when inspecting a sensor on my bumper they pushed it in, off its mounting so it now buzzes when it did not before. I have tried to contact them about this and they have failed to respond. I would avoid this place.

It seems like their business is based on screwing over insurance companies. I wasn't going to use insurance since my repair was a small amount out of pocket after my deductible and not worth the increased premiums. They essentially admitted that they would charge me more than the quoted amount (could be double) once they dissembled my vehicle. I wouldn't use them if you are paying out of pocket or mind skyrocketing insurance premiums afterward. Also, the condescending attitude toward women has no place in 2015.
Update: I had my repair completed within a couple days at Gerber for 30% less than Gold Coast quoted... and it was going to take them 3 weeks!!!

I had received an initial appraisal for the accident damage and repair work needed by the other driver's insurance company. When I took the car into Gold Coast, they told me that the damage was far greater than the appraiser had indicated. They could tell immediately that there was much more damage beyond the obvious . They reviewed the appraiser's initial estimate and advise me that the insurance company quote was for some used parts rather than new. Gold Coast explained that they would do a more extensive evaluation of the damage and be in contact with the insurance company, which they did. Mario and his team kept me well informed and communicated with both myself and the insurance company. The initial appraisal from the insurance company was less than half of what it actually cost. Mario ensured that the insurance company appraiser would agree to and accept the additional cost of the work needed, which they did. Mario and his team at Gold Coast were fantastic.
From the time that I walked in to get an estimate to the time that everything was completed and I checked out in the office, the Gold Coast team was exceptional. Everyone was very pleasant, polite and professional. They set the bar for excellent customer service. I would highly recommend them.

I did go to Gold Coast. I have gone to them several times. That was the best. The work is always done really well. It's been a few years. My car had been hit in the back so they had to do some body work. They are too bit pricey.

This was an insurance claim. They were very professional though when I first brought it in, they didn't realized I made an appointment in advance and assumed I was a 'walk-in', telling me that they were too busy to help me. Once I told them I had an appointment, they treated me really well. The quality was great - my car looks new again.

They were slightly higher than another place and they were busier and couldn't fix my car as quickly. I was in a hurry, so I went to someplace else. Otherwise, they were fine and honest with me. They said that they were busy and suggested me to go to someplace else.

The estimate process could not have been easier. It only took about 20 minutes. I decided to have them go ahead and do the work. My car is 12-years old and had several rock dents that were starting to rust around the hood and windshield, plus this is Chicago so there were many door dings and scratches. The time estimate was 3 weeks for everything.
Well, they finished the car in 2 weeks and it looks brand new. It even smells new. They had to take out the windshield to repair some of the rusted areas and there were no problems. The inside was completely clean. There was a small piece of plastic holding the seatbelt that had come loose, and when I pointed it out they fixed it right away.
The car is beautiful.

The key scratch was my responsibility - $430. The rear panel repair I turned into State Farm. It is super convenient that Gold Coast is an authorized shop with State Farm since this saves a step when they report the work to SF and I didn't have to take it somewhere else first to have SF assess before going to the shop. When I originally went in I was told it would take 2-3 days. After the 1st day they called to say it would be a week, which was disappointing. Also very convenient having Enterprise car rental next door, they were able to directly bill State Farm for the rental based on my claim #.

I have been asked to write a review on Gold Coast Auto and because I've used them over the years (since they were located on North Avenue where the Victoria's Secret is now) I feel obliged.
When I first started using Gold Coast Auto Body, a long time ago, they were great! I watched them grow and get bigger and bigger. I cheered their move into their present location. It's a family run business and I love Mario and Dominic and their father Lorenzo. But....... About the last three or four times I've brought my car in for body work they have either forgotten something or the quality of work was not there. Fortunately, I haven't needed much body work over the last several months but I have to say the next time I do I'll be looking somewhere else. Sorry guys!

Our MB GLK was hit and our insurance listed this dealer is an authorized body repair place. They did a fantastic job - the car looked new after we got it back. They also buffed a couple areas where we had scratches previous to the accident for free.

I showed up for estimate, given within 15 minutes of me arriving. They could not schedule for about 10 days but scheduled a date before I left, since it is was really cosmetic. I wanted it done before a particular trip and they had it done. I called the day before it was due to be done and they said it would be done by that afternoon. They actually called by 8 am that it was done. Everything looked great. My car is my baby and it looks as good as new.

Excellent experience, went in without appointment, received an estimate in 15 minutes, told them I would use them, they ordered the necessary parts, called me in 3-5 days, dropped the car off with no issues. They did have to order an extra part once they started, but it was not ridiculously expensive, and the car was done on time.

They did a great job, used factory parts and restored the car so that there was absolutely no way to tell that the car had been damaged in a collision. They were quick with the initial estimate and all work was completed on the schedule promised.

They were very professional. When I went to get an estimate, the technician found some things that I hadn't noticed that needed fixing. I was impressed that they keep their shop very clean for an auto body shop. They finished exactly on time to what they said it would take to complete.
