Global Locksmith

Unfortunately, I have locked the keys in cars various times and so have some experience calling for service. In the age of the internet, I didn't have a phone book to find a local locksmith and the internet search did not lead to a local locksmith that seemed credible. An Angie's List search also did not result in finding someone close to my house. I found this 800 global service that promised a free estimate, so I called. The operator told me for a 2002 Mitsubshi Gallant it would cost $15 to come out and then $39 to unlock the car (total $54). The operator did not say "starting at $39." He said it would be "$39 for a Mitsubishi." I am not naive. I expected an added $10 or $20 to this cost. When the technician showed up he said it would be more than double - $120. I told him what the operator said and he dismissed it. I was told I should never expect a technician to come out for less than $100. I negotiated it to $90 and he did open up the car in less than 3 minutes so there was no difficulty that required a surcharged. I'm not sure if the technician was running a scam and pocketing the cash. He did arrive in a very nice professional van with logos for Global Locksmith. The invoice does not have name the company printed.
