Garrett and crew were great. He was responsive, flexible with my needs and additional requests, communicative with scheduling, and overall a good guy. To the best of my knowledge his crew is small, which I think is a good thing. The same people, Garrett included, were on site the whole time. Their work looks great and was clearly done with careful thought and precision. That's not always a luxury you receive when dealing with companies looking to turn and burn as many projects as possible. Highly recommend. Pricing may not be the cheapest but it's worth paying for quality.

I can not say enough great things about Garrett.  The whole experience was terrific: the price was fair, the crew was prompt and hardworking and the craftsmanship is excellent. I could not  be more pleased and if I have another need for concrete work, I'm calling them straight away.

Garrett was wonderful to work with on every level.  From the initial meeting for a quote throughout the entire job he and his crew were professional, thoughful and highly skilled.  They worked in a difficult space between a cedar fence and  my flower beds which ran paralell to the entire 60 foot run of walkway and were extremely careful to protect the entire area.  Garrett was expert in laying out the design, proper elevation and pitch and was meticulous in the finishing.  I would describe him as a true craftsman! I would highly recommend him!

Garret was quite responsive and coordinated the work with me in a very timely fashion.  The project was delayed a few times due to rain but that is out of anyone's control.

Our sidewalk was pitched toward the house and we started to see some seepage in the basement during heavy rainfall.  Garrett and his team did an excellent job pitching the concrete away from the house and also patched up a 4ft crack on the side of the house.  My neighbor informed me that they took their time and made sure the work was done right.  They asked for his contact and will call him when they are ready to replace their front steps.  Garrett also leveled a portion of the garage floor and filled up a large crack with epoxy.  Garrett answered all questions I had and made some recommendations.  After a couple of months I started to see a gap between the house and the newly poured concrete.  Garrett reassured me that this is normal due to shrinkage and came back to caulk it.  I cannot say enough how wonderful Garrett is.  I recommended him to my mother-in-law to replace the walkway in front of the front steps which sunk in and caused the first step to be higher than normal.  Again he did a great job.  I wish there were more contractors like him.

Garrett knows what he's doing!  His confidence level is high, giving comforting reassurance throughout a highly anticipated job that went entirely without a hitch.  He graciously returned 4 months later (and about a half hour after I called!) to level up the back gate that was dragging on the concrete that had adjusted to the new sewer system beneath and varying temperatures changes above.  It was picture-perfect pitching and we've had no problems or issues whatsoever with any aspect of the work performed.

He and his employees worked very hard.  Very professional.  Mr. Carlson advised me on certain things re: the

construction of the patio, and I took his advise and was very happy with the results.

He was very nice and easy to work with, the quality was good, and his workers were nice to deal with. The price was in the same range as other companies. It was very nice working with him.

The concrete was badly broken due to a caved in catch basin. (Repairs to this problem had been done already. The old concrete had been removed to affect the plumbing repairs and replaced with gravel). Garrett and his crew laid new concrete. The finished product was better that the old floor ever was. Very nice people, very good work.

They did a fabulous job. It was absolutely fantastic. If the highest rating I'm going to give them an A++. I would absolutely use them again in the future. The guy I talked to had figured out what to do for a downspout. We just brought it up and he said that he could fix that. I said "Oh, Thank God! Nobody could fix it."

Garrett was VERY responsive, professional and friendly. He came out with 48hours to look at my project, and made several great recommendations.
He moved our downspouts to divert water from the house, and even ran our underground pipes a further into the yard to pop-up drains that release the water into the garden.
His workers were efficient and kept the area clean.
Great service!

I liked Garrett immediately. He obviously knows concrete. He later mentioned to me that it was his father who started the concrete business, which I assume implies he has been doing it his whole life. When he came for the estimate he was very helpful and had good ideas (better ideas than the previous estimate) about how to lay out the new patio and walks. Furthermore, he is very handy and had good ideas for how to solve the numerous problems that emerged. He was open to helping with suggestions for aspects of the project beyond his job of the concrete work, giving me hints about the side tasks I was doing myself.
I liked him immediately because he obviously knows concrete and the ideas he was offering were good. He wasn't my first estimate. I liked Garrett so much that at the end of the estimate I said (not the type of thing I would usually say to a contractor) and quot;I like you. You obviously know concrete. If you come through with a competitive estimate I can say right now that you have the joband quot;. Then I stopped getting more estimates. His estimate did come through competitive with other estimates, so it was a done deal.
His helpful attitude continued throughout the job. There was quite a few challenges with the project. Where to direct the water flow. There was a downspout that he replaced an extension over the sidewalk with a much more convenient PCV pipe under the sidewalk. There was a gate involved which couldn't be reset to the newer raised concrete because the fence had shifted from the root of a big bush. I came up with the idea of setting a new standalone gate and I purchased the parts myself at Menards, and Garrett set the new posts. This saved my needing to also hire a fence contractor. There was two window wells that needed to be rebuilt which we worked through the issues together.
I wanted to fill in the area under a stoop (that had a history of possums and once a skunk getting into) with bricks and concrete patch while the sidewalk was broken out. He made a point of opening the area at the start of the job and keeping it open for me, giving me time to do my work.
We kept in touch via email throughout the project about all these issues as they emerged and were solved, as well as weather and timing for the final concrete pour.
Garrett and his two helpers were all friendly and pleasant throughout the job. At the end they left the job site well cleaned up.
His helpfulness extended even to that I was asking Garrett where I could purchase bulk top soil for some new landscaping to fill in the new patio. He directed me to a place for landscapers and contractors I wouldn't have otherwise known about. Plus then the next day with the final cleanup he brought in some top soil and did the most essential fill in at the edges of the patio himself, which I didn't expect at all.
More then anything, he built a beautiful new patio and walkways. Everything is pitched in the right direction. As I say above the downspout problem fixed. Finally I have a new gate that fits properly after years of struggling with the old gate. I can't find a single flaw in the final work.

Gand H Carlson started the job on the date requested and completed the work promptly. They cleared the work site of broken concrete and other waste material and placed protective plywood sheets over the repaired area to give the new concrete time to cure. I was very pleased with their workmanship and their prompt completion of the work.

Garrett responded to my first call and came over to look at the job within 24 hours. He was very courteous and professional. It took him a couple days to return a bid, and when he did, it was fairly high. I have intimate knowledge of this type of work, know how to do it, know the costs, did all the prep work including installing drains in the sewer line below the work area, and was considering doing it myself, and I made Garrett aware of this when he came to look at the job, so I was a bit surprised he turned in a high bid. He also told me he was slow right now. Anyway, I negotiated and we agreed to a reasonable number for the both of us. That negotiation call occurred at 7pm on a SUNDAY night, and he came the NEXT day at 9am and did the job. They were on time and did exactly as they said. He thought he may be able to do the smaller porch for less than he quoted, but he didn't. The quality of the work is a solid A-; there are some aspects of the finishing that could have been better. They also didn't put in a stress joint until I reminded them. They made a very rich mix, which will hold up well. The only thing I didn't like was they didn't finish putting my deck railing back together (they had to remove it to access the work area) and when I asked him about that before he left, he started to ask ME to do it, then backed off and he and his crew finished. They also left quite a bit of pea gravel, concrete splatter, and mortar dust around that I had to sweep up, but it wasn't too bad. I subsequently called Garrett on another smaller job and he told me I was better off doing it myself and offerred some advice, which I thought was very nice. I was very satisfied with the work and would definitely hire him again.
