The quality of the work was good. But my one bathroom was promised to be done in 4 weeks took 8. That is a long time when it's your only bathroom. George also did not want to use the tile I had picked out because it was new and modern and I believe he did not know how to work with it. The communication was terrible and he expected me to take off work at the last minute to pick out a counter-top with him in the suburbs when I had been asking to do it for over a month. I know all construction is frustrating, but why make it worse. The gentleman that works with him is fabulous! To bad I never was able to get his number.

My bathtub developed a leak around the drain causing damage to walls, flooring, vanity and hallway carpeting. My condo management provided me with a list of contractors who have worked in my building. After interviewing three of them, I selected George because he had extensive knowledge of the building, condo requirements, and gave me a comfort level with all the project elements. George was incredibly helpful working with building management, submitting required documentation, plans, and making arrangements with inspectors, water shutdowns, etc.
I had been overwhelmed with decisions on tile, fixtures, flooring, etc. and George was wonderful in helping me narrow choices, making selections and obtaining products. His recommendations turned out even better than I expected.
George's subcontractor - floor installers, plumbers, painters, tillers, etc. - were great, especially his right-hand guy Don who did a bulk of the work and is a perfectionist. George and all his team really paid attention to detail  and did excellent work.
Perhaps the only drawback was that I had anticipated this to be a 2-3 week project and it extended to over a 2 month period; with some weeks, only a couple days of work. This was due to the multiple factors: waiting for product delivery, or George working on other projects in the building. However, when George or his team were in my unit, they were totally focused and efficient.
All in all, I am very pleased with George's work. His assistance, knowledge, experience and relationship with the condo, condo board requirements, and management office made this project pretty hassle-free. And the workmanship and materials are exceptional. I am very, very happy with is project results.

George is very easy to work with and knows the special requirements that are required in downtown Chicago.  We were not in town most of the time and trusted George and Don to coordinate the deliveries, elevators, etc. George worked with some of the special items I chose and let me know the things that would not work.  He was also conscious of my budget.
The experience went very well and I would recommend him.
Several years ago he also did a complete tear-out of our bathtub and replaced it with a walk-in shower.

The unit to be renovated was in a 1970"s-built rental building that had been converted.  It appeared that the unit had been designed with handicap access in mind due to the height of the switches and counters and the width of the entry hallway.  After a phone interview, I flew to Chicago to meet with George Pappas in person.

This project had several challlenges beyond the basic renovations that were needed:  I lived an hour's flight away, and would be available to make some trips up as needed, but not on a daily or even weekly basis.  The interior decorator was from the suburbs and would have to work closely with George as limitations were discovered (like concrete ceilings and heavily bent walls) and with coordinated timelines.  George called as needed, and at least on a weekly basis.  He also emailed many photos showing the progress of the project.

My trips to Chicago were very scheduled, from picking out cabinets and counters to the tiles and flooring.  Never a moment was wasted.  George had all of the contacts, found quality products at a fair price, and simplified the process.

The most valuable assets he brought to the project were his knowledge, experience, and meticulous attention to detail.  He pointed out design limitations based on the structure of the building.  When the cable installer told me I could not have what I wanted, George steppped in and found the solution that was acceptable by all parties.

I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work and products that George recommended or supplied.  George was sensitive to our budget and the need to stay within limits but still achieve the quality we desired.  He always obtained multiple bids (when applicable), or offered ways to cut prices.  There were no surprises.  "You get what you pay for".  And, in this case, it was an excellent job at a fair price.

George was required to work within the existing building inspection schedule and plumbing schedule, unable to advance in the project without sign-off.  The project was completed on the schedule defined at the start.

We now have "our" contractor in the Chicago area:  George Pappas.  We know what a wonderful job he does, how easy he makes the process, and who to call in the future.

They were very good about what they had to do. They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I would use them again and recommend them in the future.
