GENERAL LOCK CORP

General Lock is now located at 2414 W. Fulton St. Chicago, IL 60612 I highly recommend General Lock. The front door knob to our four flat condominium building was having some issues with the latch not retracting fully. If the turning of the key was forced, the latch would retract, but there was concern that someone’s key might break off in the lock. The front door to the building is not shielded at all from the elements so it is fully exposed to Chicago weather. When General Lock arrived, they adhered to all Covid protocols. They confirmed the situation that had been described. Since the door knob was 15 years old, it was decided to replace the door knob and latch system rather than attempt to repair it. The locksmith also noticed that the front door was sagging a bit. He tightened up some of the screws on the hinges which helped eliminate some of the sagging. The job was completed quickly and the front door now opens perfectly. Thank You General Lock!

I lost my car key for my Camry. The dealer was going to charge me $120. So I went to General Lock instead. They charged $55 for my key with the chip in it. So, I saved a lot of money. And the staff their was friendly and all seemed to like their jobs. It's nice to deal with employees who are happy.
Note, my key just had a chip in it and didn't have a remote for the trunk or power locks. They said those keys would be more expensive, but still a lot less than the dealer charges.
Other note, depending on the time of day, you may have to park on Milwaukee a block away. So when they make your key you tell them where your car is parked and they go to your car with some sort of computer terminal to make sure the key is working. Be prepared to wait for 10 minutes if you had to park a block away.  (A ten minute wait to save $65. Good deal!)

Excellent.  He showed up on time as promised at 10am, changed out my new doorbell as well as updated my buzzer/pager system on my commercial door system.  He walked me and my staff through the new updates, as well as cleaned up nicely, which is so minimal but says a lot for Bill and his team!  I highly recommend Bill and his team for commercial and residential.
