Brought the laptop in at 10:30 am and it was repaired by 5:00 pm.   They ran hardware and software scans/diagnostics and confirmed the laptop was infected.   Cost for diagnostics and virus removal was $99 (this is a fixed price quoted before the work was done). They confirmed Google Chrome and IE are now working fine; also updated Java to the latest version.  They asked if they should create a recovery drive on a flash drive for me ($30) and I approved.   Service was professional and very effective.

I got a pop up telling me my computer was infected and I had to purchase some program to clean it up. I think they wanted $59.99. It didn't seem right. I tried to close it but it wouldn't close. I could not go to any website. I could not get rid of it. I called Geeks 24/7 since they were close by and they confirmed over the phone that it was a virus pretending to "help" me. I was told it usually takes about 2 hours to clean up the computer and that someone would come out in about an hour. Sure enough a nice young man came out an hour later. I was surprised they came out so fast. I thought I was going to have to wait a few days. He got to work and 10 minutes later, he gave me good news. He told me the virus had not fully infiltrated my computer so it wasn't going to take him long to clean. It only broke my web browser. He fixed my browser and ran his tools to make sure all the critters were gone. He had me check my computer before he left and everything was back to normal. It also seemed a bit faster. He was done in 45 minutes. I love his honesty. He could have easily told me that my computer was in bad shape and taken his time to work on my computer to racked up the bill, but he didn't. I highly recommend them.

We were very pleased.  Ti Lay was able to come the same day we called.  He arrived on time and worked for 3 hours to successfully remove a serious rootkit virus from our computer..  We called Ti because he had serviced our computer once before when it began running very slowly.  He is polite, competent, and very professional and explains things without talking down to you, as some techs can do.  The total cost was $240 for 3 hours and we were very pleased and relieved to have this virus removed from our computer.  We would definately recommend Ti at Geeks 24/7 to others who need computer service.

He did a good job and I didn’t have to call him, well actually I did call him once or twice after that for some very quick questions on something that I didn’t understand and he was very courteous and helped me out. He was very good. He was excellent. He has an hourly rate and I believe I went over the hour so I paid him for whatever the hourly rate was plus the half hour that I went over. I think I had an hour and a half with him. He was professional and acted in a professional manner, he knew what he was doing and it was worth the money because I didn’t know what I was doing.

They ended up cleaning the machine and upgrading my XP service pack (for free!) and my AVG antivirus (for free!). Then they kept my machine going for over a day and finally saw the same error I did. The conclusion was that the sensor in the motherboard is the problem. Because they did not diagnose the motherboard issue before they perofrmed the cleaning, they refused to accept (!) the $40 extra they had quoted me ($100 minus the initial $60) for cleaning the machine. However, my machine is at least functional, which it was NOT before I brought it in! These guys were honest, knowledgeable, professional and inexpensive - an almost unheard of combination!
