Focal Point Home Inspection

Terrible, every single thing this home inspector said was fine, has not been fine, the heater had a crack in it that could have produced a carbon monoxide leak, I’ve had to replace the entire roof, there was a leak in the roof that caused damage to an upstairs closet that I can no longer use, there were birds in all my bathroom vents that caused damage to all the ducting and had to be replaced, including the vent to my microwave which shorted and had to be replaced, the dishwasher did not work and had to be replaced and my sump pump also did not work and my Finished basement was recently flooded and caused an enormous amount of damage, I have spent over $10,000 in repairs not including the basement, since I moved in on 10/01/2019. I would never refer this company or use them again.

Joe is amazing ; I didn’t know home inspections can be fun! He’s living encyclopedia of knowledge regarding legislation, building codes and so on! Joe really made my first home purchase a comfortable one, his consultation will keep me and my guests safe and my investment protected for years to come. Excellent job from start to finish. Joe  Poelsterl was prompt in responding to my initial call. He was polite, friendly and courteous.His work was professional and thorough. The report was well organized and included photos that were annotated to show the exact problem areas in the condo. This was especially important to me because I was purchasing the condo from afar and wasn't able to be on location. I was able to reach him with follow-up questions after the inspection and again, he was prompt and thorough in his replies. I would highly recommend this contractor to anyone.

Joe was recommended to me by a friend and I am so grateful I used him for my home inspection. I'm a first time buyer and have very little knowledge of home maintenance. The inspection went very well. Joe caught some issues that would have cost us a lot of money if we ended up buying the house. We will continue using Joe as our home inspector for any house we go into contract with.

I was not able to be at the inspection, so  just him and my Realtor was present so of
course I was a little nervous but he was so kind  and detailed orientated.
He made sure I was comfortable by calling me and walking through it with me. He
was the best and when I tell you he found things that I didn't even notice when
I was at the home. He is absolutely the awesome and very reasonable. He made

He completed an inspection for my potential home. He walked me through each area pointing out repairs that were necessary as well as made recommendations for improving the home. His completed inspection was very easy to follow and contained pictures of the deficiencies.

The home inspector was very thorough and his report was very detailed. Additionally, he provided us with the inspection report within the timeframe agreed upon.

It was very smooth and easy going. Very easy to read inspection report was given to me within a 24 hour period of the inspection. This is extremely important when you have a set closing date.

Joe Poelsterl was the inspector we hired for our new home purchase. He was recommended by a personal friend and we were glad he was. Joe did an amazing inspection. He spent approximately three hours inspecting every inch of our new home and found things that were over looked by me. Being a contractor myself I was more than impressed by Joes diligence. He even made a second call to the house when the heating was not functional on the day of inspection to make sure all was working. I strongly recommend using Mr. Poelsterl if you want a thorough inspection.

My real estate agent recommended Joe because she had seen him doing an inspection at one of her listings, and was impressed.  We were impressed, too!  This is the fourth house I have purchased over the years, and never have I meet an inspector who was as knowledgeable or thorough.  He spent hours looking over every detail: electrical, plumbing, roof, basement, appliances, etc.  One of the things I really appreciated is that he not only lets you know if there are problems that need immediate attention, he lets you know the overall condition so you know what to expect down the road.  For example, your roof or furnace might be OK to pass inspection, but he lets you know how old items and systems are, and when in the future you might expect to have to replace them.   His price was quite reasonable, and he did not charge us travel time from Chicago out the northwest suburb where the inspection took place, which I understand others are doing.   I  definitely will be recommending him to my family and friends.

The inspection went very well. He detailed everything in my report ( or should I say book!) Lol.

Joe arrived on time and ready for inspection, we started from the outside of the home and ended with the attic, It was a good experience and I will be refering family and friends.
