Our kitchen table chairs and table legs were over 30 years old. The finish was peeling and needed significant refinishing work. We worked with Marcus and we could not be happier with the result. The refinished furniture looks as good or better than the original finish. We would highly recommend this refinishing service.

I needed a leg on my coffee table repaired because my son decided to sit on it. The leg ripped out the laminate along with the holes for the screws. It was a disaster, but Marc was able to fix it, and even made the bond stronger with an epoxy. They are easy to work with and I have (twice now) been happy with the results. I assume the price is fine? I did not really look anywhere else after my first experience went so well with a chair repair.

Glider needed to be refinished due to severe weathering. It is metal and wood. Labor intensive to take it apart and refinish the wooden slats. Marc did a great job. The glider looks like new. It did take a lot longer than was originally estimated. Price was fine. I would hire him again.

I contacted Easy Does It in July about refinishing my pieces, one of which traveled in a covered wagon with my ancestors but had been relegated to my grandparents' garage where my grandfather used it as a saw stand and allowed paint and varnish to spill all over it. The veneer had also cracked in places. Original ceramic knobs were dirty and the original wood wheels were covered in crud. The other piece was a plant stand that had severe water damage. Marcus was friendly and enthusiastic about my pieces and quoted me $600 to fix both of them. I told him I didn't need the pieces until Thanksgiving and he was happy to accommodate my weird schedule. Over the next few months we were in touch, along with his team, and the mystery of the little piece that lived in the garage unfolded. Marcus discovered the top of the piece lifted and with approval from me, he and his team selected a gorgeous felt to install in the drawer and also installed a mirror on the flip top. They also brought in a locksmith who was able to date the piece and fix the lock and make a new key. Communication was easy and prompt. The work was top-of-the-line and I have other pieces that traveled by covered wagon that I want Easy Does It to repair. The end cost for my two pieces was $680, which was all approved and absolutely worth it. I cannot even recognize my little table as the battered piece that went in. You'd never know water ever touched the plant stand either. Stunning work! Marcus and his team understand antiques and their owners.

Marcus is very professional and easy to deal with. He responds to your questions and concerns promptly. We had the frame of our leather couch rebuilt. It had cracked. He was able to rebuild the couch so we did not have to replace it, The butler's table was a craigslist find that was falling apart. He was able to breathe new life into it again, He replaced the hinges and refinished the top of the table.

Marcus had previously modified a wall unit which I reviewed here in May of last year under 'Furniture - Finishing & Repair'. I'm moving, and I realized that at the new house, it will be possible to see the top of the wall unit from the stairs. When originally purchased, the wall unit was not ordered with finished tops because I'm currently in a one story house. In the new house, it wouldn't look nice seen from the stairs. Marcus made some thin plywood toppers for the wall units. They are stained/painted a color that is very close to the cherry used in the wall units. He was very communicative through out the entire process and recently delivered the new toppers. They turned out great and will work out very well in the new home once I move. I can hardly recommend Marcus enough. He's very nice to work with and does high quality work. Plus, he takes on jobs that few (or no) others would do.

Unfortunatlely, the work was out of Easy Does It Furniture's scope, but they were very responsive and courteous. If I had any need for furniture repair, I would reach out to them first. Great, courteous contractor, highly recommend!

Marcus @ Easy Does It Furniture Restoration is a Guru of a Cabinet Surgeon! I found a 500 pound, 8 1/2 foot tall armoire that was the perfect fit for the 2nd floor of my classic Chicago row house. Unfortunately, moving the piece into the building & up the staircase was not a perfect fit. Six men where unable to maneuver the beast into place. After letting the armoire sitting wrapped in a tarp on the front porch for many weeks, I knew something had to be done. After calling Easy Does It Restoration, Marcus came to the South side of the city (on a Saturday; no less). Within a few hours, Marcus delicately carved the cabinet into sections that would easily be navigated through 3 doorways & a 90 degree pin-turn at the top of the staircase. Watching the Furniture Doctor in action was fascinating; 4 types of saws, chisels, wedges & drafting tools. It was similar to watching a Chef filet a large fish. Marcus truly is an artist & has empathy for the preservation of history & familiar/sentimental value. A Gem. A rare find.

I had an older table top and a butcher block cart refinished. They are both beautiful!--much more so than I expected. Marcus and his assistant are wonderful workmen, and wonderful people to work with. The next time I need something refinished, these are the folks I will call.

We'd bought a wooden kitchen table 8x5 about 10 yrs ago. It had not been refinished in all that time and badly needed it. Around July 10th, Marcus and a friend took the table top (he detached the top and reassembled it afterwards ). I got it back around Sept 24th. Yes, it was a looong time eating off plywood boards but the wait was worth it. Table turned out better than I expected. Marcus takes great pride in his workmanship. I waited until now to review as I wanted to see how the finish would hold up under my husband's use. He is a great cook and takes his culinary arts seriously..which means food and stains all over the place. Table cleans up beautifully. Couldn't be happy with outcome.

Marcus rebuilt the underside, adding support and stability, and refinished the legs to match the existing finish perfectly. The couch is beautiful and comfortable again. We are delighted with his expert restoration and highly recommend him.

Although the job took a bit longer than anticipated, the work was done beautifully and I highly recommend this company! Very reasonable price, prompt, professional and very skilled.

Marcus did an amazing job restoring my pieces of furniture. I am so glad that I had the job done! Both pieces look wonderful and are back in my living room.

Communication with Marcus was excellent before, during, and after our couch repair. He provided a fair estimate for our broken couch based on the photos we sent. Once he started the repair, he found that there would be more work needed to be done. Marcus continued to communicate his progress, and what he was fixing and why. He stayed positive, even though the damages were more extensive than we had originally thought. He was able to fix our couch and we couldn’t be happier. He also followed up shortly after to ensure everything was in order. We highly recommend Marcus for furniture repair and will be calling him if we need future repairs.

Marcus did an excellent job. I no longer to tell my friends not to sit on specific chairs. I am confident that they will last for a while. He also returned emails and telephone calls in a timely manner. And he showed up when promised ! I would highly recommend him and would hire again.

I called Marcus for a quote on a repair - he picked up the phone and was able to tell me right away that he didn't offer what I was looking for, but he referred me to another business that might be able to help. I appreciate his willingness to help!

I spoke with the owner, who contacted me very quickly after requesting a quote to have a bedroom set refinished. The project was more than I anticipated (but in the range of other quotes that I had received), and therefore, I had to pass on the project. However, the owner gave me a cheaper solution to the problems that I was having with my furniture. He was professional and courteous.

Marcus was responsive, showed up when he said he would, was pleasant and did a great job bringing this family heirloom back to life. (The mechanical parts on the underside of the table needed to be repaired so the leaves could be inserted and removed, so it was a bit complicated.) He is knowledgeable and clearly enjoys what he does. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
