E&K Cleaning Service

Unless you’re willing to take a detailed video of your entire home before the cleaners come, I do not recommend hiring this company. We hired E&K for a one-time clean that we had truly HOPED would become a regular weekly or bi-weekly relationship. Needless to say, we will NOT be using E&K again. Overall, the cleaning itself was fine – it wasn’t amazing, but it was worth the price. The issue was that the crew dripped something on the floor in our kitchen that took the finish off the hardwood floors – see the photos I’ve attached. I contacted the company and showed them photos of the damage. They scheduled a time the next day for the manager to speak with me. The manager said there is no way their cleaners could have done this damage, because they don’t use chemicals harsh enough and because their cleaners are “trained” to come and tell the client immediately if they break or damage something. I told her the damage had to have been done by the crew (or it was literally magic), as the problem was not there when I left for work that morning (it is a very conspicuous spot that you could not miss), but my husband noticed it immediately after they left just a couple hours later. She still insisted it could not be their fault. She indicated they have had clients lie about damages in the past for the insurance. She offered a ~30% discount on the single cleaning ($40 out of $140 – nowhere near enough to repair the damage). In other words, she implicitly accused me of lying because she has been cheated by people in the past – ironic, because I actually wanted nothing more than an apology and a promise they’d talk to their cleaners about slowing down and being more careful (something I never got -- she never even asked me what she could do to make it right, nor was she even willing to slightly indicate it possibly could have been their fault). I declined the $40 and let her know I didn’t want any compensation – we already had plans to refinish this floor, and so, while unsightly until the refinishing work will be done in August, it actually is no material harm to us. All I wanted was her to know that her cleaners had caused damage, and to take that seriously. I told her how incredibly disappointed I was that they were not taking responsibility for the damage done. She insisted they were “taking responsibility,” by “calling me back” and then arguing with me and insisting their crew could not have done the damage. Ultimately, if their crew does damage and doesn’t notice, or does damage and doesn’t feel like fessing up, E&K will clearly just argue about it and offer a nominal discount; honestly, I’ll be shocked if they don’t reply to this review with something to the effect of “it cannot have been us, our staff doesn’t use harsh chemicals and are trained to admit mistakes.” That may be true, but certainly, I had absolutely no incentive to fabricate damage and then literally ask for no monetary compensation in return. So I leave it to you to determine who is likely responsible for the damage. THANK GOD I was already going to refinish this floor, or they’d have a lawsuit on their hands. So, if you are thinking about using E&K, I recommend you take photos and videos of your entire home every single time they are going to come (it likely won’t be the same crew each time), because if they damage something and the crew doesn’t notice or admit it, E&K will NOT take care of you. I didn’t even want anything, and I’m upset enough at the interaction to write this review. That should tell you what you need to know.

First time I hired someone to clean my house. It was a great experience. Wonder why I did not do it years ago. Agatha and Ula were professional kind and very efficient. I have a son with autism and Agatha took great care to put all of his thing's back exactly where he has them. My house looks great. Thank you ladies

House was empty and pretty cleaned so they didn't have a lot to do but they followed all my instructions and left the house ready to move in. It is worth to mention that they cleaned entire kitchen ( cabinets inside, fridge inside )

Terrific service. I would definitely hire them again. I called in the morning and they sent someone out the same day. Excellent work!

E&K has always responded to me promptly when I had questions and is very flexible in working with me to change cleaning dates, if needed. I would say that the bi-weekly cleaning is good. The women are friendly but the cleaning has been somewhat inconsistent depending on who comes that week. It is sometimes not as thorough as I would have liked. For instance, the cleaners do not clean under the couches and chairs in my living room (all are easily moved) nor do they straighten out the beds in my kids rooms. Also, I've got three animals so the hair is a problem and sometimes the tops of my chairs are not vacuumed to remove cat hair nor are my furnace returns wiped clean of hair. To be honest, I don't always remind them do do these things but will in the future. Other times the cleaning is excellent; they even clean my toothbrush holder. I try to let E&K know when one of their cleaners excels. Lastly, it would be great if I could get the same cleaners to come every time (or at least every other time), so I wouldn't have to "re-educate" them as to what I want. I know this is probably difficult, though, for scheduling reasons. Overall, I would say the service is well-run, needing only a few tweeks in consistency of service offerings and scheduling. They did an excellent job, cleaning the sink and appliances it looks wonderful. They were sending out different cleaners but I never had a problem. They also bring their own cleaning materials and supplies.

Their service has been excellent. I've first used them way back 2014 to clean up the condo before it will remodeled. Since then, I continuously used them. They maintained the time for visitation at 8:00 every Thursday.

The same girl comes every Saturday and I think that it is amazing how much she gets done in the 2 hours she here. Have been using this company for 3 months and have no complaints.

Isabel, the house cleaner, did an amazing job in such a short amount of time. Seriously, she was like a tornado around the house! When she left, the house was so clean and smelled so fresh. The price is incredible, and I'm so happy that I found this cleaning service.

I love E&K Cleaning. Isabella (our maid) is amazing. She is always on time and cleans thoroughly. My house looks like perfection when she leaves. We have been with them for a year now, and I shutter to think about the state of my house before them.

The staff is always very punctual and generally does a good job. There is some variation in the quality depending on which staff persons come each time. My only real complaint is that there have been a few times when I call and arrange for something extra to be done (like baseboards or cleaning the basement, which are not usually included in the job), and the person on the phone will quote me an extra $20 for the job, which gets charged, but then the extra job doesn't get done. I think there must be a failure of communication of this extra job to the person that's actually performing the job. I haven't called to dispute because with a cleaning job, it's hard to know for certain that the job wasn't done - there is a chance that it was just done in a way that doesn't meet my expectations, so I just decided that I won't ask for extra tasks to be done again. However, overall, they are reliable, professional, and the quality of service is very good given the reasonable price point.

I feel that it was a good value, the price of the service is reasonable. very punctual, she was respectful of my space, that other providers careless, its a good maintenance cleaning service its not like a deep cleaning but it was good, my kitchen looks good, its 1 same woman that come for the service every time for the past 2 and half years, which I appreciate and who I really like, they're very accommodating with my cancellations in case a re-scheduling is needed.

They do a good work, they are very reliable, my schedule with them is every Wednesday, they always confirm the time and date on when they coming. I am very satisfied with the work and their cleaning service. They work very thorough and they asked for anything additional jobs I needed for them to do, they are very accommodating and very flexible with scheduling. Their pricing are reasonable.

I use them on a regular basis, every other week. All the regular house cleaning, they clean the floors, the bathroom, the beds. They work on a team of two people, and that makes the time they are occupying my space less than otherwise would be, so I like that. They are very flexible about scheduling when I need to do that. They always call me before they come. They are always efficient when they are in my house.

Today was my first time using E & K (first time using any cleaning service actually). I had to make several changes because my move kept getting delayed. I spoke to someone named Christine each time and she could not have been nicer and more helpful with all my reschedules. The clean went really well and I am extremely happy with the service. Would def use them again.

I booked the service 2 days before Thanksgiving at 8.00. Girls came at 9.00 but I can understand that I was busy time for them. They did a deep cleaning in my house and I have no complaints. They cleaned everything what I needed.

I've used E&K Cleaning for many years and I've always been very satisfied with the service. They are professional and trustworthy. They're always willing to do little extras here and there as requested. Any concerns I've had over the years have been resolved quickly. I don't hesitate to recommend them to my closest friends and colleagues.

We  had an initial appointment in Fall 2012 at our old apartment (approx. 1000 sq ft, 2BR/1BA), which was completed by two maids.  We then received a quote for bi-weekly service for $70.  The $70 would buy us either 1 maid for 4 hours, or 2 maids for 2 hours--- they would send whoever they had available.  All of the maids were barely satisfactory, with the exception of Zenaida---she is AMAZING.  Zenaida was literally on her hands and knees cleaning our hardwood floors.  We were assigned Zenaida approximately 10 times and she eventually became our regular cleaner, and she never once disappointed us.  If I could offer a review for Zenaida personally she would receive an A+++!!!  
Unfortunately, E&K Cleaning Services as a company lacks professionalism and communication.  We moved to a new house in May 2013 and wanted to continue our bi-weekly service.  ----- I want to take a moment to go on a tangent and mention that I am very careful to always communicate via email rather than phone.  From working in an office environment I have learned to save every single email as "proof," should the situation ever arise where such documentation is needed-----  Continuing on, our new house is the same size as the old apartment, if not smaller.  It used to take 1 maid 4 hours to clean our old apartment (it was vintage with a lot of wood work, so it naturally took longer due to the detailing), however, it was only taking 1 maid 3 hours to clean our new modern house.  
Even though it was now taking one hour less to clean the house, E&K Cleaning Services raised our rate to $80.  If anyone can please explain to me the logic behind INCREASING the rate from $70 to $80 while the amount of time DECREASED from 4 hours to 3 hours, I would be enlightened.  
When I addressed this issue with E&K Cleaning Services they stated that their rates increased for 2013.  Ok, fine.  I can understand the need to increase costs due to overhead, etc.  BUT, they raised the rate in MAY only after we moved to the new house, and with no written notification or verbal notification.  I also would't mind paying the increased rate of $80 if it actually took the maid 4 hours to clean.  
I simply cannot come to terms with spending money when I am receiving less.  This combined with the lack of responsiveness and general poor communication from the administrative/management staff at E&K Cleaning Services was enough for me to cancel my service.
(In addition, a woman a work with who initially referred me to E&K Cleaning Services also recently canceled her service due to a similar issue.)

done to tile shower, bookcases not dusted on and on and on and
on..............looked like it did before they came minus $120
called after they left + boss came back with both of them again for a shorter
version of the same half a** job.   pointed out none of the floors were
washed.............hands and knees bucket soap + water..........
have a tile floor in downstairs bath that had 3 pieces to be moved around in
order to clean entire floor.   none of the 3 pieces were moved the
first time. 
trip 2 i pointed out the floor wasnt cleaned and same thing.............all 3 pieces not moved but floor supposedly cleaned
when pointed out to boss she said.......i clean i clean and with the dirty
damp wash rag she had in her had she got down on her knees and wiped the
floor AROUND all 3 pieces lol.............comical............i said
please stop ill do it myself with a bucket of soap and water

unless you are looking for 2 dolls that looked like they are coming or going to the nite club stay completely away
these people are awful
they dont dust, wash windowns, clean floors, etc etc............other than that they are great

They arrived on time, 2 girls with a boss lady.  The boss spoke English, the two girls seemed to maybe understand half mostly not.  I showed the boss what needed to be done in each room.  I had a list and told them to use my cleaning supplies and showed them what I wanted to use on each room/item to be cleaned.  The boss told me it would only be for two hours;  I asked if they could stay longer to finish it (I figured about $150 to finish) and she said yes because I didn't think two hours was enough time.  They got to work one in the kitchen one in the bathroom.  The one in the bathroom seemed to really be going at it.  The one in the kitchen cleaned inside the stove, inside the refrigerator.  Then she started scrubbing the top of my black stove with comet which made me want to scream but I kept my mouth shut.  I had asked them to use spic n' span on the washable surfaces but they obviously didn't understand what I meant.  I thought that I should speed things along so I went into the front bedroom and started vacuuming my tenant's room which had a lot of dustballs under the bed.  This was a mistake - instead of concentrating on finishing the kitchen, the girl in that room rushed into the front to make that a priority (which it was not).  I went back to the kitchen to find that the floor had a large greasy black spot where she had supposedly mopped.  There were food spots on the floor in front of the sink.  I had asked her to use ammonia on the kitchen floor (tile) to get the grease out - you could not even smell the ammonia in the bucket - she mopped one corner and pronounced it "finished".  The kitchen sink was not cleaned, nor the top of the fridge.  She proceeded to use Windex on the counter top instead of what I had asked her to use which was spic n span or Fantastic.  Yes, we got exactly what we paid for - 2 hours of mediocre cleaning for $25 an hour, from two people, that is exactly $100.  The bathroom was cleaner than the kitchen but I could tell the back of the bowl by the bolts has not been wiped - there were still small hairs there and some dirt.  I would not ever hire this company again - they do only what they have to, no more, and badly at that.  They never got around to cleaning the windows.  The funny thing is, I am wondering how the flat rate of $100 for a move-out cleaning that they told my tenant turned into the $25 an hour once again after they got through the front door.  I would have paid $150 for a move-out cleaning but I guess that once I started complaining about the kitchen floor not being clean, they were in a hurry to leave rather than listening to my nagging.  So now I am thoroughly disgusted because the apartment is still not clean for the new tenants to move in on September 1st and I am left holding the bag.  Do not depend on this company if you have something important to clean for or you are a landlord.

Update:  I stand on my original review - when I called them after I let their cleaners go (after they announced to me the time was up and they would not be staying any longer) they told me someone would call back but never did.  Yes, when I pay someone to do a job I expect them to do what they say and they didn't so if this is "giving someone a hard time" they shouldn't be in this business.

I have used this service, against my better judgement, because I simply didn't have time to find another cleaning service. Twice now I have had the cleaning lady quit abruptly. We had to go through a few cleaning ladies with this company because they did a poor job. One woman took less than two hours to clean my 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home, and charged me 75.00... thats almost $40 an hour! Also, on two occasions where the cleaning service NEVER SHOWED UP, once was on THE DAY BEFORE XMAS EVE! Can you imagine being left with a dirty home two days before a major holiday when you are hosting? Today is the final straw.... after waiting three weeks for a new cleaning lady, she was supposed to be here at 1:30. It is now 3:30 and not only is there no cleaning lady, but NOBODY at the service is answering calls. This is the most unreliable and unprofessional cleaning service. I would not recommend them.
