DIAZ BROS LANDSCAPING

They come weekly. The price is a monthly thing. I haven't had to ask them anything. They just come and they do their job. They are here every week, so the punctuality is good, very good. I just don't really engage with them very much. They do their job and it seems fine. Whatever we ask, they do. Certain bushes have been shortened without us having to mention it all the time.

Our 4 unit condo building used Diaz Bros. for years but last year decided to try another company.  We were very unhappy with the service provided by that service and switched back to Diaz this year.  They were very responsive to our concerns and said they would work with us to improve communication and billing details.  We now have a detailed list of all services provided and costs so that we know what we are being billed for.   They have already been out to the property and we anticipate a good relationship this season.

I called them for an estimate they gave me one and I told them they could start the work but they never showed up to do the work

Mr. Diaz told me he could come over in an hour to look but did not show up.  When I called for the second time to see if maybe they forgot, Mr. Diaz responded that one of his trucks had broken down and he forgot to call me to let me know he would be late.  He told me he was on his way over.  He phoned a short time later to say he was in front of my house but it turned out he was at the right house number but the next block over from mine.  When Mr. Diaz arrived, I told him what I was planning and asked what monthly mowing services were available.  I told him that I had my grass mowed twice a month and he stated that they only performed lawn service every week to which I responded I did not want my grass cut short every week because it looked "burned" as other landscapers cut it too short in previous years and there were mower marks.  I also noticed that if the grass was left to grow a bit longer in hot weather, it is not as dried out looking.  Mr. Diaz remarked that "landscapers don't burn the grass".  I then told Mr. Diaz my plans to make flower beds along my walkway and he responded "that will be a lot of weeding".  At every point of my plans that I spoke about, I found Mr. Diaz to be either contrary or negative.  I don't think I want to deal with someone's negative, hostile atittude.  And, I am not going to be pushed into maintaining my lawn every week for $50 X4 because it is not necessary to mow my lawn more than twice a month (this summer it was not mowed for 3 weeks during the hot spell because the grass didn't grow at all).  I did not get a warm fuzzy feeling from this contractor and I don't argue with individuals that I am planning on paying to do services for me.  So, with that said, I was not impressed at all.

Diaz Bros. does good work, does it quickly.  Last year, they were late in billing me monthly, but this last year, especially this fall, they have much improved submitting their invoices in a timely manner. 

Overall it went fine.  It's sometimes difficult to reach Mr. Diaz at the beginning of the season to get the work kicked-off, but eventually when you connect, he makes things happen very quickly.

We've been very pleased with their service.  They always show up when expected, they work quickly, and they do a great job.  And the price is right.  Very reliable and friendly.

They put stones along where I wanted while I was having the sidewalks put in. They come in and it only takes them a few minutes and but clean up after themselves, and they keep on top of things.

They charge me $15 to aerate the lawn and do the weeding and fertilizing of the lawn. They also charge me $90 for shrub control. They do the mulch and top soil when I ask for it. They put mulch all over my fir trees in front of the house, rose bush, peer leaves and my hedges at the back of the house. On Saturday they were doing the mulch. Last year I asked for refurbish of stones and I got the mulch, but he forgot the stones. I called again and reminded him, but he still did not get it, so I said forget it because I did not need it right now. They are a little late and this time they normally trim my fir trees, but also one day when I came home the fir tree was done. They haven?t charged me for tree service because I think they include with the lawn and yard work that I also use them for. The only time I called was when I was afraid that my bushes were dead and I did not think that they should not have trimmed them, but this time when they trimmed them it was fine.

Luis was responsive to our inquiries and promptly set a date for the work. Everyone showed up on time.

I?ve generally had a positive experience, but they are a very weird company. The owner of the company first came out to do an estimate and survey my yard. He said that he would start with a thorough clean up that would cost $75, where they?d clean my gutters and trim my tree. After that, they?d cut the grass every subsequent week which would cost $15. The first time they came, they did a bit of clean up, but not as much as they said they were going to do - they never touched my gutters or my tree. I called them to let them know mostly for billing purposes that this wasn?t done, and I never got a call back. They came that following Tuesday, and they have come every Tuesday after that. My biggest problem is that they don?t bring a lawnmower but a weed whacker, and I guess it is because you get what you pay for. I was under the impression that the yard would be mowed. For somebody who is not living in their backyard and playing in the grass, it is perfectly acceptable. If you want a great, cheap, easy, simple, efficient and reliable service, they are great. In that respect I am really happy with their service. However, I would like more contact, and the communication to be more consistent.

We had a little issue with punctuality with Diaz Brothers, however when they got out to do the work it went well and they got it done in about half a day. They are reasonably priced and do very good work. Overall we had a good experience with Diaz Brothers.

Luiz had to cancel the first scheduled time due to sod not being ready (not his fault). However, we rescheduled a second time and when he didn't show up at the time we agreed to, I had to call him at which point he told me his driver was ill and he wouldn't be able to do the job until a few days later. We had a number of things arranged to coincide with the work or that was relying on the completion of the work so this was a disappointment and we had to cancel the service. My issue was primarily with his responsiveness.

I have to say I was disappointed. It took three separate calls and three nearly identical promises by Luis Diaz ("we'll be there next Tuesday or Wednesday") before they actually showed up. I understand about delays, rain, etc., but I do not understand not communicating if you can't keep your word. They did a decent job of thinning the ground cover and creating the vegetable bed, but trimmed only the one already torn branch and did not trim the other obviously dead branches on the tree.

I chose Luiz based on his rating on Angie's list. We spoke on the phone and he made an appointment to come to my house to give me an estimate but never showed up. I called and left a message thinking perhaps I had misunderstood our appointment time. I got no response. I called and left another message asking if we could re-schedule our appointment for an estimate and again, never heard back. No response at all. I wasted two weeks of growing season waiting for him to return calls. I'm really disappointed.
