Great service. Construction site was tidy. Crew was on time, work completed quickly. They took great care in matching the replacement mortar to the existing mortar. I particularly liked that Joe made recommendations without pressuring us. Will absolutely use again.

Joe was quick to get to my place for a no-charge estimate. It took awhile to get on the schedule, but I think this was due to a back-up on jobs due to the colder weather in March. His crew got here and did the work very timely and the outcome looks good. I can definitely recommend this company based on the quality of the work!

Contacted Joe over the phone. He was thorough in getting a description of the work request, which meant I did not need to home when he came to assess before providing the estimate. The estimate was right line with others. Joe put us on the schedule after he received the deposit, and although there was only about 12 hours notice when they were coming out, my presence was not required, so no issues. Joe's team got right to work on arrival, and completed the job in a single day. The rebuilt chimney and tuck pointing both look good, and Joe's team did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. All-in-all it was a hassle-free experience and I'm very happy with the quality of the work performed.

I had gotten four different quotes for the work, and it surprised me how different the recommended services needed were, as well as the fees.  This was one of two firms quoted that I thought didn't tell me I needed excessive amounts of work done.  Although I'm not an expert in masonry, my best guess is that they struck a good balance between what was actually needed to maintain my house and the cost involved.  
They did a nice job with the work.  The guys doing the work were all courteous, professional, and clearly experienced.  They did everything they were supposed to for the amount in the contract. They showed up when they told me they would and cleaned up after themselves. 
If there was an opportunity to improve, it would be for them to have provided more specific timing expectations further in advance.  They gave me a few days, which ended up working out ok.  
I am very happy with them overall and would recommend them to others.  

Looks good. They finished in one day and tuck pointed 3 ft up along the side walls of my house where the mortar was in bad shape. After the estimate, I noticed a hole in the brick close to the roof. They patched the hole at no extra charge.

The provider installed a retainer wall to stop the soil erosion on the east side of the property. The retainer wall was approximately 60 to 70 feet in length. The retainer wall to date is in excellent condition as when installed. I recommend this provider as he has great work ethics, is courteous, punctual and down to the point.

Joe was extremely professional and responsive.  He stopped by and provided be a quote within 48 hours.  Easy to work with and pay.  His team didn't need to access my home so I wasn't here when the work was completed but that didn't stop them from completing the work.  Very pleased with the results.

The project went very well.   It was completed in a few days.   The crew did a nice job keeping the work site clean.  Communication with the owner via email was timely.   I am very happy with the job.

.Workers showed up on time and cleaned all debris away.  Less than 1 day to rebuild chimney and 2 days to complete roof.  Workers were diligent and polite.

Joe was helpful from the beginning: coming over promptly to give an estimate and helping me understand my options before I decided what I wanted do.  The work was performed quickly, no long delays.  Completed in one day.  The workers cleaned up the area, leaving no debris.  Overall, the service was highly  professional and stress free.  I would gladly use this company again and I highly recommend Joe and his workers to others.  The repaired areas look great.

Joe was very responsive from the beginning and provided me a quote in early January.  His quote came in over $1,000 less than another quote I obtained from a company on Angie's List.  Once the weather permitted the work to be done he promptly called and the work was completed shortly thereafter.   They showed up on time in the morning and removed the entire chimney from the roof up and replaced it in one day, finishing after 5:00PM.   Due to my narrow 30' wide lot, the pitch of my roof and the position of the chimney they had to work out of my neighbor's yard.  This was a non-issue though because Joe's workers took extra care in keeping the work area clean.  At the end of the day they left not a trace of debris and I had a beautiful new chimney.  Joe's workers were very nice guys and took the time to explain the work they did to me.   I would definitely use Dependable Construction again!

Joe was very prompt in quoting and scheduling the replacement of some glass block windows. I had a short time frame and he was able to accommodate my schedule. The work was done quickly, was good quality, & at a fair price. I would hire Joe for a future project without question.

It was excellent.  He did a good job.  It didn't cost much more than the Big Deal, I mean we did have him do additional work.  This was my past residence in Chicago, Illinois.  The work was done well and quickly.

Met with Joe at building and discussed several options, e.g. what was definitely needed now and what could wait.  This way, we could budget our funds and maintain the building's integrity.  We follow-ed up by phone, and after agreeing on scope & price, we executed contract by email and the deposit by mail.  So, Joe communicates effectively using the right medium.  He also extended the Angie's List discount.  During the job, some minor internal damage occurred but Joe arranged for that to be patched immediately.  Overall, great to work with , good results, fair price.  Will use him again.

The job went smoothly and Joe was very easy to communicate with. The quality of the work was very good and they provided photos of the completed project because chimney is 3 stories above grade. Overall good experience.

As a new owner of my 2 flat building, I was overwhelmed at times with the number of repairs needed. I found Joe and his team to be better than expected. Joe offered 3 options, gave no pressure but did advise what the long term outcomes would be for each choice. I reviewed this with a friend who works in construction and they agreed with Joe's solutions and options.
I did ask Joe if i was his daughter, what would he recommend and he easily stated the best and costliest but added he wouldn't charge his daughter. He understood budgets and was willing to work with me.  in the end to repair the entire corner was the less expensive choice as it would completely repair the area and not be required to be repeated in a few years down the road.
Joe and the team were professional, neat and prompt. Once we had a date, everything fell into place.
The repair worked and was beautiful. No more water in the basement from the bricks! I still had to repair a roof damaged by ice damming and replace drains to keep the rest of the water out! The bricks and style matched perfectly. As soon as I'm done with all the other required repair projects, I will be asking Joe back to work on a different project and to redo work from a previous repair by another company so that it all matches his work. I highly recommend Joe and am just now posting this along with Thank you to all the teams that have helped me take a bit of a worn out building back to life.

The entire experience with Dependable Construction (Joe Baran and his crew) was the Best!  I would hire them again in a heartbeat!  I needed five glass block windows to replace terrible 75 year old windows in my basement and Dependable made it as easy as pie.  First, Joe called and we made an appointment for him to view the windows.  He arrived on time and was friendly and knowledgeable and showed an interest in my particular situation.  That was much appreciated.  Joe even went the extra mile and found extra information for me I requested to help me make my decision.  Great customer service in the both the estimating and the execution.  When Joe called to set the date for his crew to come out,  I couldn't do it the day he wanted so he was nice enough to re-arrange their schedule so they could come the very next day.  The crew arrived on time and were mannerly and very professional.  They did high quality work which made me so happy.  The crew chief took the time to explain exactly what they did both inside and outside.  I was very impressed and appreciative.  Joe then called to follow up to make sure all was well.   I highly recommend this company.

This spring the company who cleaned my gutters told me they found a lot of brick chips from the chimney in the gutter. Joe Baran provided the best estimate. I was pleased that his company is licensed and carries insurance. He was very professional providing written proposal and terms of payment. Date to begin this project was set up and luckily the weather cooperated and they were able to begin that day. The workers were very efficient and professional. They were very good about cleaning up at the end of the day.

The chimney was in severe need of rework.
It may be due to the severe winter, but I was finding small pieces of a crumbling capstone and tuck-pointing in my gangway.
When I finally was able to see the condition of the capstone (which had actually shifted too) I saw that it had deteriorated quite badly.
They were quick to respond to my quote request and came out to assess what repairs were needed.
I liked that I was offered two possible options with no hard-sell.
I could have gone with a repair or a rebuild.
But in consideration of the condition of the chimney, I chose to rebuild the chimney and replace the capstone.
Once I made the decision, I was put on their service list, and they came out a few days later.
They called before arriving for the work, and did the work while I was out.
When they left everything was cleaned-up very nicely.
In fact I wasn't even sure that they had shown up until I went up on the rear deck to get a better look at the chimney.
I was very pleased with the work which they had done.
Good communication and explanation of the service options, excellent workmanship, and cleanliness of the site on completion.
I am quite happy and would have no reservations in recommending their services.

As you can see from the list above, we had a number of projects that weren't urgent (no crises), but were parts of our house that were at the end of their useful life.
Working with Joe and his crew were great - from quote through completion, Joe did a good job of following up and keeping in touch on the different parts of this project.  Everything was done as well as we could have hoped; things were done quickly (much faster than I had expected, in fact) and his crew did a good job of cleaning up after themselves.  We were having a baby around this same time and they were also able to work around our scheduling needs.  It was nice to have a single person to work with on this range of services rather than having to hire a bunch of different people for each project and manage them all individually.  I highly recommend Joe and Dependable Construction, and will be using him again for future projects.

Joe Baran has exceptional professionalism.  He was honest about his scope of work, punctual, and responsive to my calls.  Also, his pricing was better than 2 other bids I got for the project and he threw in a small area tuckpointing for free.  I would definitely use his company again for future projects.
