I contacted Rob in April to go ahead with painting my bedroom, touching up some areas in the LR, DR, hall, and bathroom. I had previously gotten a quote from him for the work, and also at that time, I asked him if he could recommend a good drywall guy because I wanted to take the paneling down and remodel our den. He told me they do drywall all the time, and so he quoted that job for me too. He told me the earliest they could start would be May, but his partner could start on the bedroom painting the next week. From the start, there were quite a few hiccups with the job - Rob was in Canada touring with his band, and wasn't very good at communicating with Dan. Trying to text with Rob in Canada, for him to convey the messages to his workers was a fiasco. They didn't show up the first day. Then one guy (Dan) came, but he didn't have all his supplies because they were in Rob's van. Another guy was supposed to bring the van and the supplies, but didn't. Finally the work started getting done, and I can't fault Dan's painting. My room is beautiful. The touch-ups in the hallway, not so much. It looks like I have rectangular boxes of a similar but not the same color in the places he touched up. Rob later explained to me that it's hard to match paint, which I get, but I wish they had said something beforehand and gave me the option to pick a different color or hold off on the touch-ups.
Dan came again after finishing the painting to start taking down the paneling in the den. Again, he didn't have the right tools, I had to lend him a hammer, a prybar, and give him a mask and garbage bags. But he did a nice job taking everything down and even pulled out the nails so no one would get hurt. Now, on to the drywaller, who at this point didn't seem to know he was even working on the room. A week after the paneling was taken down, Ray the drywaller came by to "look at the room." I don't know why when Rob had already estimated everything, but it ended up being another week (now mid-May) before Ray started drywalling. He did an ok job, but when he sanded everything at the end, he didn't seal off the room and my entire first floor was (is!) covered with drywall dust. No matter how much I wipe and wash, it's still all over. I called Rob in hysterics when I got home that night, and all he said was, "oh, you gotta call Ray." No, you are the one who arranged this and was supposed to oversee everything. I'm paying you for this work. You call Ray and make this right. Needless to say, he didn't and on top of that couldn't understand why I was upset or expected him to take care of it, so I fired him. Then he tried to charge me more for taking down the drywall because he wasn't doing the painting. And, instead of being a professional and saying, don't worry, we'll take care of it, he made personal attacks and blamed everything on me. Although I've known Rob for many years and have used him to paint just about every room in my house, I will never use him again. He is unreliable and unprofessional.

When I met him I was pleased with his presentation. The work is being done right now and the estimate is okay. In my case it was perfect because he had outside work to do and because I had contacted him at the right moment, he was able to come in and give me an estimate to start right away on it. It worked good and the price was okay. It was lower than the one other estimate I did get. He responded right away and do it right away besides that he's pleasurable to work with.

I hired Rob to repaint my LP condo with the goal of making it look like new again. In other words, it needed to be perfect, and Rob came through for me BIG TIME! I would highly recommend Davis Painters (no relation btw) because he is extremely reliable and was dedicated to getting PERFECT results for us. This included taking on extra rooms and more scope on the fly, and working early and very late with his crew to produce excellent results within a ridged timeline. You will rarely find people that you can trust to work so hard with almost zero oversight on a project like this, and get such a great outcome. Rob Davis is my go to painter now, and he has very much earned it!

Everything went fine, unfortunately the week that I chose to have the painting done was one of the hottest of the year. Rob started the job on the 25th of August and there were some very hot days in that week. Rob paid attention to detail on the painting and I'm sure the job was harder because I have 4 different colors on my front porch. I am very happy with the job that was done and I would definitely hire Rob again. I was also very surprised that Rob left me the remainder of the paint that was left from the job, I have had the porch painted before and this has never happened. As I said I have had the porch painted before but the previous painters did not pay attention to detail the way Rob did. The job that he did is beautiful and I have had many compliments from my neighbors.

Rob came to look at the room we wanted to paint, helped us to make some color decisions, and set a date. I had to cancel the date and he was very kind about rescheduling. He and Dan showed up exactly when they said they would; they covered everything we had piled into the center of the room; and they prepped the walls to perfection (and I mean, to perfection). The next day they sanded, cleaned and painted. There is not one drop of paint where it should not be and the lines between the walls and ceilings and walls and molding are perfect. Rob did a walk-through the next day, but I had nothing to fix!

Rob and his crew setup and did clean and professional work throught the house. Most impressive was getting up and rolling and cutting nicely up to the arched 17ft high ceilings, as well as adding on an extra room and extra wall that was outside the orginal scope for a minimal charge and no hassle. Also very flexable with our schedule, and was easy on the floors and stairs during the job. Top notch painter with a lot personal attention to quality. I would work with Rob again - no problems here.

It went wonderfully and they did a wonderful job. I hadn't really liked my house, but the new paint job and colors made a world of difference. They even repainted the trim when I decided that the first color I picked wasn't working. No complaints, they just did it, and it looks amazing. I use them for all my painting, both in and out, and have recommended them to many friends.

The work went very well; we were very pleased with the results. Rob was professional, responsive, and reasonably priced. The work on the front bay was challenging -- there were multiple colors, multiple different pieces of wood to cut around, etc. Rob also took care not to damage the Japanese maple in the front yard, right in front of the bay. We would definitely hire Rob again.

Rob was amazingly polite and professional and has 2 amazing daughters who came around after the work was done to take a look at dad's work :). They really enjoyed what he had done.
He had mentioned that if we need touch-ups in a year he would come around for that. And surely he did. It was very smooth & friendly experience with Rob. Also his price quote was amazingly honest and better than other quotes. He had come in to see the place and gave the quote after a walkthrough of what needs to be done, the scheduling and walkthrough was very smooth.

I have used Rob Davis before and was impressed with his work ethics and attention to detail. I have a two-bedroom rental apartment that needed painting to freshen up after my tenants of 7 years finally moved out, so I called Rob again. The apartment was painted generic landlord white and I wanted to bring in some light, soothing colors for the walls. Rob warned me that it would take two coats to cover and he was right. I was hoping to get by with one coat to save on cost, but the results would not have looked so good and Rob did not want his reputation compromised by a so-so job. Rob and his workers, Dan and Kevin, spent a good deal of time prepping the walls and making sure the paint went on smoothly. The edges are clean and crisp and they touched up a lot of spots on the trim and baseboards. We were able to save on not having to paint the ceiling and trim. They stayed with the job until it was finished, except for one day when they had to leave to finish up another job. Even though they were extremely busy, they did not cut corners and rushed off. Dan especially, look at things with a critical eye and treat it as if it was his own home. As other reviewers have pointed out, they are great guys to have working in your house, always friendly, helpful and professional. Rob doesn't leave you in the lurch after the job either. He offered to come back if there's any problems. Thank you Rob and crew for a job well done!

Everything went great from start to finish. He took one extra day to make sure all of our walls were painted even because of our textured walls. Rob also said he would come back if we found any areas that need touch ups. Very professional...

Rob did a nice job providing additional paint samples to choose from several days before the job started. The job was not simple, as there were lots of little repairs and prep work to make the room ready for painting. He had to take off some woodwork in order to open the windows, but he did an excellent job re-installing, so you would never know it had been removed. Rob took the time to handle all the little things properly so that the finished product looks great.

Rob did a fantastic job. I would hire him again and in fact already indicated to him that I want him back in the Spring to finish the house and do some exterior work. Specifically, Rob absolutely knew what was doing; a true professional. After going through several reports on other painters in Angie's List, I called Rob Davis to make an appointment for an estimate on the job. Rob arrived at the appointed time and I explained to him what I had in mind for the job. We walked through each room and I pointed out what I wanted done and he pointed out where there might some serious prep work to be done, i.e. because of the lousey job I did 5 years ago when I removed wall paper from the Home Office and painted the room myself, he determined that the Home Office should be primed using an oil based primer. Rob called a few days later with his estimate and I found it in line and acceptable. For the next several days, my wife and I drove him crazy with questions about the color selection (Rob brought us numerous color wheels to select from) but eventually, the colors were settled upon--almost. I asked Rob if he would get some paint samples of the ones we selected and then come over to the house and paint a small section of each wall so I could see how the colors actually appear in the room. He did this willingly and without the "that will cost you extra". On the date scheduled for starting the job, Rob and his assistant Dan arrived on time, ready to work and with all the tools of their trade. The job started on December 6 and finished on December 10. The first 2 days were entirely devoted to preparing the rooms, the next 2 days to painting and the last day going over the job and touching up wherever necessary.

I was happy with how things went. Rob was very nice and easy to work with. I was happy with the final product. It took a couple of days to get the estimate because Rob's Internet was not working. A quick phone call would have let me know what the hold up was. However, that was a minor setback in an overall good experience. The quality of work was very good and I would definitely hire Rob again.

Rob Davis gave us a very competitive bid, was here from start to finish of the project along with 2 other painters and finished quickly. Great attention was paid to the detail work surrounding the numerous kitchen cabinets & granite backsplash. Rob even went the extra mile picking up replacement screws for a vent cover he discovered was barely being held in place on our wall. The best part of working with Rob is his personability. It's so important to feel comfortable with people that are going to be in your home for extended periods of time. He & his workers were great with my 3 kids & so patient with my them being underfoot, inspecting their work & equipment & asking many questions! Overall, a very positive experience. I will definitely use Davis Painters for future projects.

Hire Rob and his crew - you will not be disappointed! Rob is professional, timely and incredibly responsive to concerns. He was very laid back and very flexible when we ran into a delay with another vendor. He was very competitive on price; the second lowest of four bids by less than $300. Definitely worth it! We added some additional work - and he charged us a nominal fee instead of something unreasonable. We are very pleased we chose him and you will be too.

Rob and his employees painted my entire one bedroom apartment. I told him at the start that what was important to me was that my new hardwood floors not get scratched or paint on them and that the joining corners of two different paint colors be seamless. Rob took care of that and more. The walls needed some obvious fixes and he pointed out some things I thought I had to live with but he made the room look like new. In addition to that he fixed the appearance of my cabinets. The previous owner did an upgrade that look cheap and unfinished. The wood of the cabinets doors and frames were two different colors. Rob fixed the cabinets made them look polished. I would recommend Rob not only because his skill as a painter is impeccable but his ability to fix walls/ceilings will make your rooms look like new construction.
