Danlin made a very professional appearance when he came to out home to give us an estimate on the work (estimate was free). He seemed knowledgeable and interested. Once Danlin was given the contract and the work started the picture changed completely. The work was very delayed and our work took approximately 3 weeks longer than planned. Once we received our pieces we were disappointed by the poor quality of the finish (it appeared to be a strayed on finish) and not a hand-applied traditional finish befitting of the pieces. Also, many corners and edges were not finished and had to be redone by a traveling Danlin fixer-upper. This was definitely not what I expected from a highly rated conservator. Transport to and from his shop was much more pricey than explained. Overall, I am quite unhappy with his work.

Danlin did a fabulous job! Their quote was around the same as two other companies we got estimates from. We selected them because they were in Chicago and we were able to go their shop to select finishes. They completely stripped the piece down to the wood, repaired and replaced damaged wood, sanded out marks and realigned the drawers. The piece looks absolutely beautiful and the quality of their work is wonderful. You can barely see any of the repairs they made - they blend in seamlessly with the original wood. They completed the work within the time period they initially gave us and we would definitely use them again!

THIS WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER. I ASKED THEM TO PUT A FINISH ON THE TABLE SO I DID NOT HAVE TO USE PADS TO PROTECT IT. HE SAID THAT IT WAS NO PROBLEM. WHEN I GOT THE TABLE BACK IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE. HAND PRINTS AND FINGER PRINTS WERE MAKING IMPRESSIONS ON THE TABLE. DAN CAME OUT TO LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID THAT HE COULD NOT SEE IT. HE SENT OUT ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES WHO SAID THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FINISH. THE OFFICE YELLED AT HIM FOR ADMITTING THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HE RUINED AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF FURNITURE.

"MON. 6/13/05 -DINING ROOM TABLE WITH 2 LEAVES WAS PICKED UP FROM CUSTOMER'S HOME AND BROUGHT INTO OUR FACILITY FOR STRIPPING AND REFINISHING USING CATALYZED CONVERSION COATINGS THURS. 7/14 -TABLE & LEAVES WERE DELIVERED TO CUSTOMER. CUSTOMER PAID C.O.D. FRI. 8/12 -CUSTOMER CALLED STATING THE TABLE HAD MARKS ON IT THAT WON'T COME OFF MON. 8/15 -DAN WENT OUT TO REVIEW AND DISCUSS TABLE WITH CUSTOMER -HE COULD NOT SEE ANY MARKS, CUSTOMER CLAIMED THAT THEY WERE FROM PEOPLE TOUCHING THE TABLE -DAN EXPLAINED TO CUSTOMER THAT THE ONLY WAY TO GET RID OF ANY MARKS THAT SHE IS SEEING, IS TO HAND RUB THE TABLE; CUSTOMER LET DAN TAKE A LEAF TO OUR FACILITY TO HAND RUB IT -THE LEAF WAS BROUGHT TO THE CUSTOMER; THE CUSTOMER APPROVED THE HAND RUBBED LEAF. WED. 9/14 -OUR SERVICE MAN WENT OUT TO THE CUSTOMER'S HOME TO RUB OUT THE TABLE PER APPROVED LEAF; HE ALSO TOUCHED UP HER BUFFET AT NO CHARGE; THE CUSTOMER REVIEWED THE WORK AND SIGNED OFF ON THE PAPER WORK THURS. 9/15 -THE CUSTOMER CALLED AND SAID THERE ARE SCRATCHES/MARKS IN THE CENTER OF THE TABLE FROM A LARGE BOWL THAT WAS SITTING ON THE TABLE FRI. 9/16 - OUR SERVICE MAN WENT OUT AGAIN TO RUB OUT THE DAMAGE AS BEST AS POSSIBLE; CUSTOMER WAS UNHAPPY AND WANTED TABLE & LEAVES PICKED UP AND BROUGHT INTO OUR FACILITY FOR REVIEW FRI. 10/14 -TABLE WAS PICKED UP MON. 10/17 -OUR CHEMIST CAME TO REVIEW THE TABLE -HE SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE WAY THE CHEMICALS WERE USED; THE TABLE & LEAVES WERE RUBBED OUT WED. 10/26 -TABLE WAS DELIVERED"

VERY PROFESSIONAL. LITTLE JOB -- NO ONE WOULD HELP ME BEFORE HE WAS WILLING. TOO SMALL OF A JOB FOR OTHER FIRMS. HE DID EXCELLENT WORK. (PRICE WAS MIN. CHARGE.)
