I contacted Michelle for color consultation services. The scope of work was to include an entire new-construction home. Her initial response was enthusiastic, and we set up a time to meet. On the appointed day and time, she was a no-show. When I called to see what had happened after waiting on site for about 35 minutes, she was very apologetic and explained that she had her days mixed up. (I had e-mailed her the previous day to confirm, so that seemed a little odd and in retrospect should have been a red flag.) We rescheduled for the same time the following day. The next day (or maybe the same evening, I can't recall) she e-mailed to tell me that the time wouldn't work, as she'd forgotten about a previous personal commitment. Michelle was again very apologetic, so I gave it one more shot. We set up yet another meeting. I rearranged my schedule to make it work. She e-mailed about 6 hours before our appointed meeting time to tell me she wasn't feeling well and couldn't make it. At that point, I gave up. I understand that things come up, schedules change ... but this series of events was beyond unprofessional. If she didn't want the work or didn't think she had time in her schedule for it, declining up front would have been the appropriate response. Michelle seemed as if she was under a lot of stress, and I don't mean to kick her while she's down -- I just want to make sure no one else out there makes the same mistake I did.
