I had to move from Chicago to the Detroit area. I contacted several movers, several of which said that I was 20 mins shy of being considered a local move. Anyway, reading reviews, comparing prices, delivery time projections (some of which said it could take a week to 10 days to move furniture about 280 miles) and attitudes, I chose Collins. Because it technically wasn't a 'local' move, the owner personally coordinated the move. Everything went smoothly. They, Joe, his son Tyler and David) showed up early and attacked the move like a swarm of bees and made mention of items from the inventory I did and wondered where my desk chair was. Told them a friend took in his car. They didn't even have the inventory in their hands but recognized some of the antiques that I mentioned by description. Super fast and efficient, taking care to carefully protect my antiques. Joe and Tyler made the trip to Michigan and swiftly unwrapped everything, placed furniture where directed, assembled beds and cleaned up. They were fast, efficient and the crew was amazing. I have moved many times and I have to say that this was the nicest crew and moving company I have ever worked with and completed the whole move in about 10 hours. Thank you for making this stressful day much less stressful! I highly recommend them. Oh, and if you get this crew, they like to drink Coke over Pepsi. :)

Darren and his two associates did a fantastic job. My only comment re payment was that we didn’t know Collins charged 5% for credit card payments. Regardless, we highly recommend your moving company. So hardworking and not one complaint. We’ve moved several times, and this was by far the smoothest and most efficient move of all. Thanks Collins Moving Company for a job well done. They were excellent and professional. They did not waste any time getting the move done . They were pleasant and helpful . I would not hesitate to recommend them!

Overall, could not ask for a better moving experience. Joe and team were right on time, and went right to work. They took excellent care in the wrapping of all the possessions, and moved 2 bedrooms, an office, living room and dining room without a scratch, either on my furniture or the walls along the way.... and I have a number of valuable pieces. They asked whenever there was any question, especially when placing everything in the new place. Had a challenge with getting a few pieces through the door, but the crew got creative and solved it! Again, couldn’t have been a better experience.

This was the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. I had an absolute horrible experience with this company and I wouldn’t hire them again if they were the only moving company left on earth. I selected this company, knowing it was in now way the least expensive option, but you get what you pay for, and I thought I was paying for a premium moving service, instead what I got was nothing short of budget rate attention to detail, sloppiness and damage to my new residence. It began when they showed up at my residence. I was told that clothing could be left in my dressers. Instead your movers decided to unload my dressers into random used cardboard boxes. In normal times this would have been offensive, in the middle of a pandemic it was downright reckless and dangerous. We were moving into a new residence. Due to the pandemic we were unable to have a washer/dryer delivered before September 10th. So we took care to wash EVERYTHING we owned, and place it neatly into the dressers. Instead your employees decided to dump our clean clothing into random, used boxes, that had come from who knows where and transport our previously clean clothes to our new residence in crappy used boxes, in the middle of a pandemic. When questioned this would be the beginning of the "it's easier for us" refrain that I would continue to hear throughout the move. We now have to spend HOURS shuttling our clothing to a laundromat, again, in the middle of a pandemic. It's when they arrived at the new residence when things really fell apart. My desk was put back together, and I mean barely together, with little to no effort by your movers. They barely hand tightened the screws. When I sat at it for the first time it wobbled and the legs almost splintered from the desk. When I turned it over, I saw that the legs had barely been screwed back into the desk top. It's clear instead of using tools to properly reassemble the desk, they just hand turned a few nuts and kept moving. When they arrived at my pick-up location, I had made sure the bed was disassembled, because I knew the only access to my building was via the alley and I wanted to do whatever I could to lessen the time they blocked the alley. When they arrived at the new residence I directed them where to put the bed, and told them I would put it back together, once I decided where it would go. They couldn't even be bothered to unwrap the bed. It was so heavily wrapped in shrink wrap and tape that I could barely get it open without injuring myself. However, this is the incident that I find most offensive. I submitted an inventory list, and on that list was a heavy bag. At no time was I contacted and told it would be a problem, an extra charge, an inconvenience or anything else. Yes, I am aware it was a heavy item. I am Marine Corps Veteran with a disability rating, and a damaged back. Moving heavy items, is not something I am capable of doing, hence I hired the movers to perform that task. Instead what I got was a refusal to move it, until they could extort an additional payment from me for doing a job which they were contractually hired to do. They were going to leave the item outside or in my living room. I was told they talked to Richard and he didn't want them moving it, but they would do it if I promised to take "good care of them" - So here I am already paying for a premium moving company's service, with an item that was listed on the inventory, and now being shaken down and told "unless I am willing to take good care of them they can't do anything? Whoever this Richard person is he never called me to indicate ANY item on my inventory list was problematic. I was not told there would be some sort of premium charge to move an item that I had clearly listed as part of my inventory. So, left with no other choice I agreed to "take care of them" so they would do the job I was already paying them to do. In the course of getting the base of the bag upstairs they made a complete mess of my walls. My hallway walls need to be repainted. They are filled with black marks, sweat from where they leaned against the walls and dirt. Mind you, this is a brand new house. This house was just completed in July. EVERYTHING in it was pristine. While I understand there could be some smudges (as they left some heading down into the basement) our hallway, in a house we had yet to spend a single night in, is completely in need of repainting. Lastly, your movers extorted a payment of $250 from me. If that wasn't bad enough, they insisted I find a way to pay them that could circumvent a credit card so they didn't have to pay taxes. While I understand and appreciate that nobody likes to pay taxes, I don't appreciate your movers pressuring me into helping them hide their income from taxes. Sorry, I am a Veteran, one with a disability. Taxes go to helping people like me, and many who are far worse off than myself, and it's appalling that your movers would feel the need to broadcast, and coerce people into making payments via a particular payment method. I understand your movers simply could have been having a bad day. They said they were extremely busy, sometimes doing three moves a day. I get it, not all of them will be perfect. But there's a difference between perfect and not delivering on a contracted service. My walls are damaged and needed to be repainted and I don't appreciate having an additional payment extorted from me by subtle intimating that you'll leave my belongings in an undesirable location cause it's "too heavy", but somehow you can figure out a way, if I "take extra care of you".

My Mom recently passed away & I had to get movers last minute to empty out her condo. Talked to the owner of this company & he was so understanding and immediately took stress off my shoulders discussing the move. Darren & Reuben called me to check in the day of, as promised & were 100% on time. They wrapped up my Mom’s furniture so quickly & efficiently & never complained that I had 2 stops to drop off furniture! Unbelievably cool, kind and professional, went above & beyond, just all in all such a wonderful experience with this company from the start!!!!! These guys are worth every penny and in the moving world (in my multiple moves/experience) you truly get what you pay for!! I will absolutely use them again, best movers & moving company I have ever had.

The two movers did an excellent job. We made it difficult on them - having so much to load into a truck that was probably too small. They played an awesome game of Tetrise with our things and we were able to move all of it. We are SO thankful!

Richard and his team of movers were so professional, quick and efficient and took care of my emergency move immediately! I would definitely hire them again. I basically called them and less than 3 hours all furniture, boxes and other items were moved outside of the unit. They were great!

Perfect! This is my 2nd time hiring CFM and they did not disappoint. I have high expectations and once again - CFM performed flawlessly. I have moved many times in the past few years and highly recommend this mover. NOT ONE THING WAS BROKEN and/or missing. CFM takes the anxiety out of moving.

Unless you maintain a vastly different opinion from a majority of the population, you're not necessarily losing sleep over the excitement of your upcoming move. If given the choice and our lifestyles permitted it, most of us would abstain from moving, or eradicate it entirely. Sort of like going to the dentist for a root canal, but worse. Enter Collins Family Movers. A complete departure from any other moving experience I've been fortunate enough to partake in. I was referred by a friend who leveraged their service for a recent move of his own. They came highly recommended and I didn't want to spend any more time than necessary researching so I contacted them. Immediately I felt at ease. I consulted with Richard who was professional and approachable and was quick to supply me with a digestible estimate. Fast forward to the week of my move and Richard maintained contact with me and and reconfirmed all the details of my approaching exodus and relocation by phone and email (even while he was in Costa Rica for Xmas vacation). Come the day of my move I felt confident this would be a smooth transition and shortly thereafter I was reassured as the movers arrived early, were efficient and executed flawlessly. As you can surmise, I firmly recommend Collins Family Movers - and while I hope I don't require their services again for quite some time - they'll be the first call I make should that change.
