Cole's offers contractors, designers and neighborhood resident's wholesale prices on all home kitchen and laundry appliances as well as a complete line of custom built furniture and bedding. Day after day, Cole's continues to build strong relationships in the industry to assure each and every customer gets the lowest possible price along with their award winning service. It went better than expected. I went on their website and bought a beautiful sofa that I had seen the week before at another design shop and Cole's price was 30% lower. However, it turned out that the last one had just been sold. Kevin contacted me and went above and beyond to make sure I was not let down. I went to their shop, which has great selection of models, and in the end, for the same price I got a couch from the same premium brand, but in a bigger size. Delivery was fast and super professional. Highly recommended.

When the installer left, I called Friedrich customer service and verified that my concerns were valid.  I then called Cole's to inform them of the improper installation.  Barry told that Cole's has only one installer who is an independent contractor, and my only option was to have Cole's send the same person back to correct the problems.  I was very concerned about having the same person return to my home to install, but had no options.  Subsequently, the Cole's installer called and made a date to correct the issues.  The installer did not show up, nor did he call, on the day he scheduled the second appointment.
I was concerned about the period of time that these heavy units were sitting on my window frames.  I called the manufacturer and requested names of qualified installers in the area.  I was given the name of B & G repair service, and had them re-install the units properly.
I then called Cole's and requested a refund for the installation fee I paid them.  Barry refused, stating that it was my duty to have called him when the installer didn't show up the second time so that Barry could  get his installer to my home.  I stated that I could no longer wait for that person, and that I had no confidence in his ability to install properly.  Barry also stated that the installer had reported to him that I "hovered" over him as he worked.  That is true, once I realized that he was not following the manufacturer's instructions for installation, I became concerned and did not leave him alone.  After some conversation, Barry offered to "split the installation cost with me 50-50".  I refused this offer.  I do not feel I should have to pay any amount of money for such shoddy work, particularly when I then had to pay another installer to do the job.
I do have photos of the problem installation, but am unsure how to send them.  If you'd like to see the photos, please let me know
how to get them to you.  Also, I have several eye witnesses to the level of work done, including the person who re-installed the units.

For the past 70 years and to this day, we work hard to make sure that each and every client not only receives the most competitive pricing available but also the absolute highest level of service. Unfortunately, this does not sound to be true with your installation experience and we are working internally to make sure that this does not happen again moving forward. All of our installers are trained in-house and are also required to attend the manufacturers certified training as well. The installer on your specific job was one of our independent installers and from our past experience, he's one of the best in the industry. I apologize again that this does not stand to be true with your personal experience. Air conditioners are a very small part of our business but nonetheless are just as important to us as kitchen and laundry appliances, so we have circled back to make sure that our installers are properly trained on the installation of Friedrich A/C units. We have also now partnered with an outside installation company to be sure that more custom installation jobs like yours, that require additional contractor work, are completed properly. I apologize again for your recent experience with Cole's and please feel free to contact me directly if I can be of any additional assistance. We hope to one day be given the opportunity to earn back your business and better display how we have succeeded as an independent retailer in Chicago for the past 70 years. They just made it easy.  When you go online to purchase there are some many differing reviews of appliances.  I just asked Barry for a good reliable model.  We looked at two and after a clear description of their pros and cons made a decision.  This was a 5 minute decision.  They have a price match policy so I checked online afterwards and fount their price within $5 of the lowest big box store price and below that of others.

Kevin is a great resource to the Northcenter community as well as the Chicagoland area. I purchased my entire appliance set from him during a major kitchen renovation which like most renovations ran longer than usual. Kevin, however was very accommodating and was able to hold the appliances until we were ready for them. He is very knowledgeable in providing the customer the information they need to make the right purchasing decision. In short his customer service is outstanding!

Fantastic. I did a lot of research on appliances and then proceeded to get bids from 3 stores. Cole's was not the lowest bid, but Barry (the owner) was really responsive and timely and seemed to be very interested in the businessso we went to the store for a visit. We liked the fact that the business is family owned (his son Kevin is there and informative and personable too). The exterior of the store is certainly "old" Chicago and the interior isn't showy, but both Barry and Kevin were great in walking us through the appliances we had chosen and called the appliance reps when there were questions that couldn't be answered by the in store literature. They came down a little more on price and although we ended up paying more than our bid with a big store, we felt that they were honest and that if we had problems, one of them would be there to help us. They also arranged for an independent contractor to install the appliances. That turned out to be as important as the sale as we had problems with locating the outlet for the microwave vent, and the range didn't fit in the space so our granite countertop needed to be shaved in place. As the contractor was also a kitchen and bath guy (separate report), we were able to get installation completed without calling in other contractors. We are so happy that we chose Cole's.
