My experience with them was wonderful. The doc there is very good. They know Murphy. He's been so sick over the years they know him and are very good to him. The price is extremely reasonable. Murphy has been so sick for the last three years. I mean he was in the hospital and desperately ill. The doctor has worked very nicely with me over the last two years as we've worked with his medication. When Murphy gets sick, I can call the doctor and we can adjust the medication over the phone instead of my having to go back into the hospital and have to have a visit. The doctor doesn't charge me for a phone visit. He's so kind to me and my budget. That's extremely considerate that he's giving me his time and not charging me. It's been because we've been working together for 2-1/2 years and he knows and I can kind of describe Murphy's condition and we can juggle the two different meds that he's on: "let's go up on this one and go down on that one". I think it's because we work together so much that he's willing to do it over the phone and he's willing to do it without charging me. He's pretty cool. They'll bend over backwards to give you anything that you need.

They're wonderful. I have a cat that has a chronic illness. They take care of Murphy very well. We juggle his medications all the time and he's on a special food. They've taken very good care of him. He's been sick. He was sick two years ago and it's taken a very long time to get him stabilized and he's doing real well now. That doctor has done a really nice job.

My husband likes the way they don't try to pressure us into unnecessary tests or treatments. They also have Sunday hours, which is nice!

The first time I brought my dog in was for a routine checkup. Dr. Andres was good about introducing himself and listening to my concerns. I never felt rushed during the visit. He was willing to give advice on issues and explain the pros and cons of various treatments. Prior to coming in, the staff at Clark-N-Oak contacted my previous veterinarian and got the records. My dog was my mother's before I my Mom died, so she had been to her vet as well. Prior to my Mom, she had another owner so there were three sets of veterinary records. Dr. Andres thoroughly reviewed all the records. There was a discrepancy in the records as to when the last heartworm test was done, which Dr. Andres resolved.
Since then, I have called to ask for advise on issues. Dr. Andres took the time to call me back and provide assistance.
In the first few visits I had only seen Dr. Andres. After my dog's broken nail (see above), bleeding started again after a walk. Dr. Andres was not available that day, but I was able to get a same day appointment with Dr. Nguyen. There is always a concern when you see a new doctor, but Dr. Nguyen was great. She has a friendly, reassuring manner and is very willing to answer all concerns.
I would recommend Clark-N-Oak to any pet owner in the area.

I moved to Chicago about four months ago and needed to find a vet for my nine-year-old Yorkie. She had a medical problem that had been under control with medication, but for some reason the medication stopped working very well. I saw Dr. Heatter. She listened, asked questions, and sent for my records so that she could thoroughly study the problem. I could see that she thought my old vet had had my dog on a high a dose of medicine for her size, but she was very professional about giving her opinion without saying anything negative about my old vet. She suggested it was time to add another medicine, which we did (as well as decrease the first one) and it ended up taking care of the problem.I've been several times since then. She's good about telling you beforehand what something will cost. When I took my dog in for her annual vaccinations, Dr. Heatter looked at my old records and said that since some of the shots were good for three years, my dog didn't need them this year. She also didn't charge me for an exam since I had recently seen her. She told me about a vaccination appropriate for this part of the country and helped me decide if my dog should get it. The receptionist and billing people out front are all very polite and friendly and knowledgeable. Also, although I know this doesn't mean anything as far as qualificaiton goes, the office is filled with figurines and pictures of dogs and cats ad charicatures of them--obviously decorated by someone(s) fond of pets!
