If we could give this company less than one star, we would. We called Chicago Metro Garage Doors as they were listed as one of the best garage repair businesses in the annual “Best Pick Reports 2022”. We spoke with Joe and gave him a quick assessment of the problem, and he scheduled a service call for Saturday morning. On Saturday around 10 am, repair tech Gabriel arrived to assess needed repairs. He initially encouraged us to buy a new unit but said he could replace the broken part and get our opener working in about 45 minutes. After an hour, we checked on Gabriel and he said he underestimated the time it would take to do the repair and that he needed 30 more minutes. After 30 more minutes, Gabriel announced he needed to go to Home Depot for a tool. Upon his return from Home Depot, he began to really show signs of struggle with the repair and it became clear to us that he had overestimated his abilities to fix the problem. Three hours after fully disassembling our garage door opener and reinstalling it, Gabriel could not get the garage door to open. Once he realized that fact, he told us he was calling a master tech for advice. We could hear him talking and he was clearly frustrated. We heard the master tech ask him “walk me through why you would change out that part” and then asked him had he checked these other things. Clearly exacerbated, Gabriel hung up and proceeded to check on what he had just been told. He announced he needed more time to get the garage door working. Gabriel started taking down the chains and now they were just hanging all over the place. We tried maintaining our composure as we witnessed this fiasco, hoping for a miracle but the longer it took the ruder Gabriel became. Finally, when we couldn’t take the struggle anymore and asked for a completion time, Gabriel shouted we acted like “(we) didn’t trust him” and that (he) needs us to give (him) space to work” and that “(we) need to leave (him) alone.” We were taken aback that he would attempt to order us out of our own garage. Then, Gabriel said "don't you realize that I am sick can't you see the boogers on my face....I have been sick since I got here." At that point, we realized that we needed this person to leave. We told him to pack up go! Gabriel got on his phone and told someone that he was leaving, packing up while he talked (all captured on our security cameras). He then left a paper with what work he attempted to do with the cost of a new door opener if we wanted to now proceed with a full replacement while leaving our door opener worse than when he arrived. When we read the receipt, it said Illinois Garage Door Repair and not Chicago Metro who we called. So, we don’t know if we were scammed. This was the most horrible experience we have had with a technician of any kind. Not only did we feel threatened by an angry man in our own home, but he may have knowingly brought in Covid or worse threatened us with Covid just to get us to leave him alone in the garage. What professional behaves that way? Fortunately for us, when we contacted O'Brien's Garage Door Repair and explained our crisis, they immediately sent a crew to us the same afternoon. Thomas and his team confirmed that Gabriel really messed up our opener, but they thought it was repairable. Within 45 minutes, they had the garage door functioning again and charged us a fraction of the cost we had been originally quoted by Gabriel. We wished we had called them first but are glad we have their number now! Avoid Chicago Metro and Illinois Garage Door Repair at all costs.

He told me $140 for one spring, and I searched online it is only $70, and I told them to give me $30 discount since he already installed it. Don't get burned.

Very prompt in getting here less than two hours after I called. Diagnosed the problem as an inferior, contractor grade opener for a very heavy door, which had resulted in the gears in the opener being stripped. Had to get a new opener from the warehouse overnight. Arrived early and did great work. Helped me program the remote buttons in my car. Tuned up our second garage door. Overall excellent service.

Well. He was a gentleman and because it was such a minor job, charged me little.

Ami asked what was going on with our garage door,. He asked more questions, checked the door and advised me of the problems. He told me  the approximate cost of repair and  fixed the door. After completing  the work, he explained the causes of the problem and clearly demonstrated what we can do to prevent  future recurrences. I was completely satisfied with his work, will use Chicago Metro again and will recommend them to my friends.

I called because Chicago Metro Garage Doors got great reviews on AL and my experience was consistent with this. David answered the phone every time I called and was polite, responsive and followed through with everything he said. Originally he sent Victor for a service call who was very patient and professional. He explained all of my options and was not pushy. I decided to replace the door and opener and Miguel did it the following day! He also was professional and did a great job and I am very happy with the result. He set the remote in my car and the keypad for me and we went through a demo before he left so I have no questions. The installation was today so barring any future surprises I would recommend Chicago Metro Garage Doors highly!

Advised me that when it is very cold, the opener for an unheated garage like ours just may not work.  This is common, I was told and not much that can be done.  Try the opener when the weather is a little warmer and see if it works (it did).  As opposed to the other company I called who wanted to do a service call for $80 right off.  Thanks for not wasting our money!  When we need work done on our garage, we'll call you.

Tech was punctual, professional and most importantly performed the services with excellence. He also did not attempt to up-sell us
to things that weren't needed at this point in time.  Would definitely use them in the future.

Punctual, responsive, and professional on the first visit. Price was reasonable. The door would not close automatically. One spring was broken, he replaced both springs since the other was very worn. Would have received an excellent rating if this fixed the problem. Before he left he said that if the door malfunctioned in the near future it could be the sensors. The door failed to open automatically less than a week later (it worked sometimes). A different person came out and was punctual. He said there was nothing wrong since the door opened for him. This led to an unpleasant discussion and he finally agreed to work on the sensors when threatened by a call to the company. It works now but can't say for how long so will not comment on quality. May use them again but only because of work warranty.

Service was prompt. Dave was helpful and clear. Addressed springs issue then adjusted door and lubed. I inquired about very worn bottom seal and he told me cost and decided to do that too. Quick and focussed service.

The service person called me to give estimated arrival time. He evaluated my existing garage door opener (26 years old) and let me know that a tune up would most likely not reduce noise level from the unit. He was able to replace the opener same day and install a keypad as well. It took about 2 hours to complete. The new opener is very quiet, I'm happy with the results.
