Great experience. They know what they are talking about and have a huge selection. Family owned and operated for like 60 years. Great resource for the neighborhood.

1/23/21 Great experience today at Chicago Lawn Mower/Show Blower on W. Montrose. My Toro snow blower wouldn't start. Steve diagnosed my problem: I had not fully emptied out the gas in the spring. This caused the carburetor to malfunction. He explained that it's best to run the machine until it stops in order to make sure the gas tank is completely empty. In less than 15 minutes, the snow blower was cleaned, carburetor flushed and some new gas added. Not only does it run beautifully, it looks brand new! The shop is clean, the service friendly yet efficient and the price incredibly reasonable for the work. I have used this shop several times before, In fact, I exchanged my old snow blower for the one I have now. It's a small family owned shop. If your looking for great service, personal care, at reasonable prices, I highly recommend Chicago Lawn Mower and Snow Blower-Susan Hill

I live in Elmwood Park and trying to find a reliable place to repair my Toro lawn mower was difficult until I found Chicago Lawn Mower. It is 7 miles away. I brought my mower to them and they diagnosed the problem while I waited which took less than 5 minutes. I was given different options and the cost of each. Ultimately, I chose to replace the motor. They offered to have it done later that day. The service was fast and friendly. This is my new go to business for lawn mower repair. They also sell and service snowblowers along with lawn mowers.

We have been dealing with Chicago Lawn Mower since we bought our lawn mower from them in 2006. We were so pleased with their service & friendliness that we bought a Snowblower from them 2 years later. They have never disappointed. Their prices are very competitive. They have never disappointed us and and we highly recommend Steve and Al.

The quote they provided me when I took the mower in  was exactly the charge I expected when I picked the mower up. The repair work was completed quickly and on time. They even assisted me in getting the mower into my care which I was not expecting.
It is obvious they do a large mail order business but th still manage to treat local customers with the ultimate respect and care. Would definitely recommend this company.

Our mower wasn't working at all.  We called Chicago Lawn Mower Service and they had us bring in it that same day.  They told us we would get a call when it was done.  So surprised to have the mower done that same day.  It was returned to us in perfect working order and looked brand new.  Would definitely use them again!

I'm disappointed.  I just called to inquire about a tune-up for my lawn mower.  I live 10 minutes away from their shop, according to Mapquest (I live on the east side of Park Ridge).  Despite the fact that their Angie's List description specifically says "NO TRAVEL CHARGES," he told me it would be $50 just in travel charges to pick up my mower.  I have no way to get it there myself.   He might as well have just said, "no thanks, we don't want your business."   I like to be treated more professionally, kindly, and FAIRLY when I call a small business.

Do know, your tune-up may be close to the cost of your push-mower. Because of this, I choose to have the mover tuned up every other year. It is worth it just to get the blades sharpened and the deck cleaned. Of course the oil and is changed, spark plug, etc. Last summer I needed to have a cable replaced so the bill was a little more than what I normally play. To my knowledge, there aren't a lot of places to take your mower for a tune-up. I wish they would create some sort of customer loyalty program to thank their regular customers with a discount. They have remained in business for a reason.

This was the third time I traded in a snow thrower (one I had previously bought in trade from Chicago Lawn Mower Svc) for an expertly reconditioned one.
This time the old machine was a Toro 2-stroke that had served me well for about five years or so. It was getting weak and
the snow chute wasn't working properly... tired of fighting with it so took it to CLM to see if we could do business again.
Sure enough.
They were pleased to take my old dear back and offered a really nice Craftsman 4-stroke 21" thrower in next-to-new condition (and electric start)  all for $250!  Such a deal! And I no longer have to futz with mixing oil and gasoline. I did some research and learned that a thrower like this, brand new from a big box store, cost around $400-$700.. I saved a load-o-dough!
We had our first serious snow this weekend so I took the new thrower out for a maiden run. Worked great....
so much so that I blew my neighbor's sidewalks! Love my new blower and will most likely be back in a number of years to do it all over again.

Visited shop based on AL recommendations and proximity.  Greeted promptly, and a solution to my lawnmower firing up and then immediately shutting down was discussed within minutes.  The discussed cost, service and timing of completion were fully met, and I was on my way to cutting again within days of dropping the mower off.  They did what they said, and I'm a happy camper.

      1. On 4-26-13 I purchased a push reel mower at their website.  The cost was $89.99 plus taxes/shipping, bringing the total to $111.30. This purchase was made through Paypal, so payment was immediate and secure.
After this purchase, I did not hear anything from them for 5 full days--no e-mails, no shipping confirmation, no calls, etc.  I finally called in on 5-1-13 out of concern.  The person I talked to had to search around to find my order, then said he found it.  He explained that it had gotten lost because of their new system.  He said it would be shipped the next day.
On 5-2-13 the mower was shipped and it arrived on 5-3-13.  I opened up the contents on 5-4-13 and put it together.  Assembly was quite simple and it took about 10 minutes (much of this push reel mower is preassembled; it's just a matter of putting the handles and a few small things together).
Upon assembly, I encountered two problems, one minor and one major.  The minor one was that one of the wing nuts provided for assembly was already cracked and broken.  The major one was that the mower blades would not turn at all because it was misaligned to one side and could not be corrected.
I decided to return it and submitted a return request on the company's website on 5-6-13; the website indicates that an RMA number would be sent to me to make the return.  I did not hear anything back for 3 days, so I called in out of concern and was told I could just send it back and I did not need a return number.
I sent the mower back with a return explanation and a request that I be refunded in full without a restocking fee and that I receive a partial refund of shipping.  The cost of return shipping was $19.87 (bringing my grand total to about $130).
On 5-11-13 I received notice from Paypal that a refund of $98.31 was given to me for the return.  Essentially, I lost $32 in ordering a defective product from this company, not to mention the time and trouble with the order and the return.
On the Paypal return message I received was this note from the company (no edits made):  "refund for returned merchandise.. Sir, the machine was fine, you obviously had trouble putting it togethe, you over tightened everything to the point you broke more than one connector. I will give you your 89.99 + tax back but machine not defective"
I completely disagree with their assessment.  I have no idea what they are talking about in regard to over tightening everything and breaking more than one connector.  I did not over tighten anything or break any connectors.  I don't even know how that is possible with assembly of a handle for the mower.  The defects (broken wing nut and blades that won't turn due to misalignment) had nothing to do with my assembly.  I was glad to get the partial refund I was given, but I do not feel one should lose money when the product does not work correctly.  Overall, this was an unpleasant experience and I would not buy online from them again.

This was one of my best service experiences ever.  I literally had the unit back home less than two hours after I made the initial phone call asking if they did snow blower repairs.
I left the blower and was told to call back the next afternoon to determine if they were able to get a replacement chute.  About a half hour after I had returned home, I got a phone call saying the unit was ready.  In addition, they had detected another problem--a broken scraper blade-- and asked if I wanted that fixed too. The total repair bill came to $80. Far better than the $400 to $500 I anticipated a new snow blower would cost.
