Chicago Chimney did a very poor job. The fireplace box caved in on itself the day after it was done. They did come out to fix it. Shortly after that, the chain for the damper pulled out of the wall - my husband fixed that. This past summer while having a simple chimney sweep done by a different company (found on Angie's List with hundreds of A's), we were informed of numerous holes in and above the fireplace box - which is extremely dangerous. We paid $1,700 to have this work corrected. During this visit, the owner of this chimney company extended his camera to the top of the chimney to find that the liner stopped 3-4 feet short of the top of the chimney. He also took down the damper to show me that the energy top damper we paid for, had not been installed, a less expensive damper was.
I have talked with Chicago Chimney to correct the problem at least a dozen times, to no avail. At one point, a disgruntled and unprepared (did not come with a ladder) employee came out, left the new damper an extension for the liner, but did nothing to get them installed - he just left. Other than that, no one has shown up on the multiple dates we have had scheduled to get the work complete. I have been working with Rick this entire time, who, no longer answers or returns my calls.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau today. I wish I had been a member of Angie's List before I used this company.
BEWARE.......Were a no show on 7 different occasions since January 2014. I paid 2/3 of the job and all they did was tear up my walls, cabinetry and flooring and would not complete the installation. The city has fined them. I will have to find a different contractor to complete and clean up this mess. The absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. They are the reason I joined Angie's List - for fear of having the same issues with additional contractors or companies and was shocked to see they were on the website.
