They did a great job packing. They kept in touch with me throughout the move.  Great price. They did a fabulous job.

They were here on time.  They were very professional, and I would definitely use them again. They took a lot of care and attention and were very detailed.  I was really impressed.

Even though it was a small job (for a mover) they were very reasonably priced and polite.  They showed up on time and did a very good job of moving a large treadmill.  

I have nothing but good things to say about checkmate movers. They were fast, super hard-working, and came in at, or below their quote both times I used them. All of my possessions made it intact. The movers were friendly and really worked their tails off to get the job done quickly. The best you can hope for from movers. 
Moving is a pain, so I hope I don't have to use movers again for a while, but if/when I do, I'd recommend them in a heartbeat! 

Checkmate movers did a great job.  There were approx. six people along with Kevin, the owner that did the moving.  They were friendly and were cautious not to damage any of our things.  They were also very efficient and got the job done quickly.  If there were questions about where things should go or how they should be moved they asked.  I would definitely use these guys again.

I started by requesting a quote from their website.  Kevin got in touch with me very quickly, and explained that they had a 1.5 hour minimum, and their rate would include 30 minutes of travel time.  Even so, based on my description, he didn't think I'd use that much time (and he was right).  We set an appointment, and he explained that they wouldn't wait for me, but I might need to wait for them, because of the way they had to schedule things.  While not the most awesome thing in the world, I appreciated how upfront he was about it.  On the day of the unloading, they were indeed a little bit late, but they called me shortly before the appointment time and let me know how soon the expected to be there.  They were right on in their estimate, and were only about 40 minutes after the original appointment.
Four guys showed up and made quick work of unloading the contents of the truck into my second-floor apartment.  By my request, one of the guys also helped me set up my queen-sized bed.
They communiated well with me, the estimate was exactly what they charged me, and the guys were friendly and professional.  I was quite satisfied with the experience.

We had two movers come, they end up being earlier than expected. They were both very friendly, fast, and easy to work with. We only moved about 10 pieces of heavy furniture to move and had no problems.

I was in a time crunch to schedule a move (four days lead time) and they were the first company I contacted on Angie's List, (with an A rating) who were available, which was a huge relief.
Movers called prior to arrival, moved all furniture in a timely and professional manner, and delievered furniture in a timely manner.  Both buildings required the freight elevator to be used, so being on time was imperative, as we had specific time slots to use the elevator.

The move went well. I had underestimated how much stuff I had, but the movers just got right to work and hustled all day.  I was impressed by their stamina. The three man team worked well together. They were efficient and upbeat. The piano, armoire and dining room table were extremely heavy, but all were moved successfully. I highly recommend these guys and would use them again.

I LOVE this moving company. I have used them 4 times in the last 5 years, and would absolutely use them again. I wash shocked by how carefully they handled things for me on the first move - they wrapped all my furniture in furniture pads AND then in shrink wrap!!! Nothing could have protected it better against damage, dirt or rain. And they were very careful about the walls and doors and didn't damage anything. The only things that got broken in any of my moves were some bowls I had poorly packed myself and had nothing to do with their service, but were my own negligence. I used them when I was 8 months pregnant to clear out the nursery and put a bunch of things in storage, and again when we had to declutter our house to put it up for sale. Both times they were so helpful and courteous and even gave me advice on what size storage unit to purchase. They were always on time, courteous, kind, patient, and willing to help.  And 2 or the 3 guys have been there at each of my 4 moves, so they seem to retain their employees.  I felt very comfortable having them in my home and handling my belongings, and felt they were honest, trustworthy and hard working. 
They are also very upfront about their fees.  They work by time, and I never felt like they were wasting time on the clock.  Very efficient. 

The company responded quickly to schedule the move and were willing to do the work on  Super Bowl Sunday per our request.  The movers were very efficient and careful with all belongings during loading and unloading.  They were experienced when using the loading dock at both Assisted Living Facilities/ Care Centers.  Great guys, great experience--will use  this company again.

Their hourly rate was very competitive, and they came in right on the nose with their estimate.  They divided up the work and moved quickly.  They were friendly and professional.  For the second part of the move, they actually called in a few more guys to help expedite.  The hourly rate went up, but they finished in short order, hitting the estimate.
I actually had to move two weeks later into a new unit - I used them again.  I have not noticed any damage to my belongings.
Both times they showed up late - the first time I didn't even get a status call until they were 30 minutes out (and 2 hours late).  However, they warned me that this could happen - I just wish they gave me a status call at the time they were expected.
I would highly recommend Checkmate.  They are honest and professional.

Easy to deal with and did a good job at a reasonable price for a "no frills" move.  Estimate was very close to final price.  Only negative was that they were approximately 2 hours late due to being held up on a previous job.  Would definitely use again.

I was expecting the overall service to be better, frankly.  They worked really, really hard.  They did the whole thing in one day.  It was a long 10-12 hour day.  They showed up, packed, moved, and unloaded the truck.  Some of the guys were kind of complaining.  It's one thing to go out to the truck and complain, but to complain in front of the customers isn't cool.  I don't want to hear it.  We hired them to do a job.  They dented several pieces of our furniture.  I've moved enough times to know that it's never going to be perfect.  We were going several miles down the road.  I've moved across the country and had less damage.

Called for estimate three weeks before move and spoke to owner.  Took detailed estimate and asked specific questions, which really helped me understand prep and move requirements.  Estimated $880 for kitchen, living, dining, 1 bedroom, office, sports equipment, and 100 boxes from a 3rd floor midrise condo downtown Chicago to a single family home in nearby neighborhood.  Included 6 hours estimated.  Arrived on time, called ahead.  Knew the building already.  Loaded up, moved, and unloaded in 4 hours, 60% of the estimated time.  Only charged for time spent, not estimated.  Very aware of breakabales and packed TV's, leather furniture, and a massive glass buffet with care.  Team of 4 was great, friendly, and worked without complaint in 90+ degree heat.  Put everything where I wanted it in the house.  Clean, fast.

Excellent, they made my life so much easier.  This was my first time using any movers, and I won't go back to life without movers.  Even though it was mid-day move, they are more than punctual!  Right on time.

They finished job so fast.  It was under the estimation, and didn't charge me.  They only charge what coasted.  None of my items was broken, even wine glasses. 

There was one glitch when the job before us turned up with more stuff then they had originally anticipated, but they called us right away and gave us a good estimate of when they would turn up.  They even left the previous job to come do ours and then returned to finish up the previous job.  They did a good job estimating how long it would take to move our stuff and did so quickly and efficiently.  We really appreciated that they were able to get us out of the facility before it closed and were able to fit us in on our timetable.

The crew arrived at the appointed time and moved all articles including a very heavy entertainment center with no damage. Justin was the point man who explained the insurance rules and all charges that are part of the moving process. With the exception that he didn't have any boxes for purchase in the truck everything went very well. My only trouble was when the movers started unloading. They were too quick for me. They had already unloaded and placed certain items in the living room that I wanted in the basement. They quickly fixed that, and without comment, moved all furniture where my wife directed them (a feat in itself). The amazing thing that deserves a comment was that while I was prepping the apartment for the move I removed my watch and wedding band to wash my hands before their arrival. I then promptly forgot that I had left them on the sink ledge. The next day when I went to clean the apartment I found my ring and watch right where I left them. That's a testament to both Angie's List and Checkmate Movers. My last move (found out of the phone book) didn't go this smoothly with many broken items.

They were on-time, neat, dependable, professional. Their actual price was less than their estimate.

I called for a quote, which would be the minimum charge. We got a great deal because we were flexible and agreed that there would be no date set and they would fit us in on another light day. I officially accepted the excellent bid Monday morning at 8:30, and at 11 that same day they called to ask if this was a good time. It was and they moved it. The men moved it skillfully and we were very happy.
