Carrington Roofing

DO NOT walk away from this contract - RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! He overcharges - started at $380 for 6 inches of caulk and finally settled for $280 for caulking work. I had another contractor order the missing flashing and it was installed - including the part for $250. I was threatened by Carrigan and he has not been caught in a couple of lies as I did more investigation ie saying his grandfather started Walgreens and he lost all of his money in a bad oil & gas investment.

They were very detail oriented, precise, and did a very good job.  They were supposed start at one point, but it took them two weeks before they could actually start, but once they began, they were very prompt and punctual.

Carrington Roofing did my tear-off and replace roof 10 years ago. Although I have not been on the roof, I thought they did a great job, fast, efficient, and good price, so I wanted to consider them for this contract. :-)
I contacted three top-rated vendors from Angie's List.  One didn't respond at all, and two responded quickly.  I got a quote from Tristan Carrington and the one other vendor.
The other vendor's email estimate was very nicely put together, very polished, super quick.  Carrington's estimate took a couple days longer and was basic - plain text and delivered by email as well. 
However the big difference, was that CARRINGTON WAS ABOUT HALF THE COST of the other estimate.  I compared the materials and work to be performed and found them roughly equal but for very different prices.
Communication was great - email and phone I got great customer service from Tristan every step along the way from quote to completion.  Any little question or problem was addressed easily.  He asked us to do walkarounds during and after so we knew what was going on.  The guys that did the job were very nice, worked around the changing weather, and did excellent clean up.
It's hard to know sometimes what to pay for these things, so all you can do is shop around and talk to other homeowners to come up with comparables for similar work.  Clearly I could have paid more but maybe I could have gotten it done for less?
But we are happy with the work done, and feel confident recommending Carrington Roofing.

When Tristan met with me to review and provide a quote on roof replacement for our single family home in Evergreen Park, I knew I was in the hands of an artist of the trade.  Tristan had recommendations on color and type of shingles, color and type of flashing, color and type of gutters, and a new color for the exterior wood of the home, and his quote was highly competitive.  After reviewing his recommendations and his quote, my wife and I decided to go with all of those recommendations and with Carrington.  The result is gorgeous and Tristan's artist-like impression was confirmed.  Tristan and his team performed the job working around the weather and our schedule without any inconveniences for us.  We live one and a half hours drive from the property, so daily oversight while the work was being performed was not possible.  No matter, Tristan even took the time to communicate in person with our tenants and our neighbors so that they would be aware of the day-to-day schedule details and any potential inconveniences the work might pose for them.  The finished result was within budget and exceeded our expectations in quality, craftsmanship, and aesthetic appeal.  We recommend Carrington Roofing Company passionately.  In fact, you can save yourself the time and trouble of securing additional quotes for comparison.

Crew was punctual and professional,but price was a bit steep...Had to call back to have a new vent replaced in place of an old one they reinstalled.

Carrington also included a charge of $3200.00 for "concrete work" that in my opinion I could have completed at
a price of less than $500.00!
In truth, perhaps I expected a much better repair efforts from these so called professionals because I could have done
a much better job when I was younger ( I am now 77 years old).
I must admit that the weather did "play" a major role in the worker's repair efforts!
However, the weather can not be held reponsible for "shoddy" job performances and very "high repair  prices."
 
 

This is my second roof with Carrington Roofing.  This was the type of
professionalism I was looking for.  He gave me an honest quote based on
his experience, a good price, and he made sure the work was done
correctly because he guarantees his work.  When I need to work on my house roof, there won't be any other choice, but Carrington Roofing.

Mr Carrington was very responsive - the workers arrived on time, as promised and completed the main roof & flat roof in 2 days. The workers advised us that the chimney need tuckpointing and took photos to validate their findings - we approved the repairs. Lastly, new gutters w/screens were installed. Once the job was complete, Mr Carrington completed an inspection of all work, we approved and paid the balance due. We are satisfied with the job and recommended Carrington Roofers to a family member.

Their material was a thick rubber membrane that they glued to the roof after they put down insulating board.  They were very good.  They were a little behind schedule as it is a small company.  The owner is very flexible, amiable and the work is very good.  So I recommend them.  They were nice people to work with.  It took a little longer than I wanted them to.  They got behind because of the weather.  Their price was excellent and that is why I went with them.  They were much more reasonable than the other estimates I got.

I am very pleased with the work. The roofing material used appears to be superior to most new roofs recently replaced in my neighborhood by other contractors. The service that I received was very professional. The workmen were very courteous. I was told that the roofers would start work at 6:30am. They were knocking on my door at 6:30am, very punctual. Tristian Carrington is very personal and knows a lots about roof color matching. Although I chose the color of my roof, he was very helpfuol in sugggesting colors that were more suited for the color of my home. He didn't try to force his recommendation off on me. The work took 2.5 days and I am 100% satisfied.
The overall service was A+.  I would use this company again and recommend this company to anyone in need of roofing work.

We highly recommend Carrington Roofing.  This is a small independent contractor.  They do quality work.  They were willing to do the specialized structural work we needed on our overhang.  The foreman, Rico Mendoza, is very dedicated to completing any project.  He said, " I take my time and I do the job right".  He was always very hard working.  He took a great deal of pride in his work and had the skills to solve the problems we had with our roof and a sagging overhang and the knowledge to fix it.  It required a great deal of effort to put up rounded gutters which had to be installed piece by piece.  He is an all-around handy-man and able to do many types of work.  He was always punctual and did a wonderful job.  He is available to do side jobs at 773-858-2882 in the south Chicagoland area. The crew of thee men worked in the heat and took their time to do the job correctly.     We highly recommend this company.

their price was very reasonable and the workmanship by Tristan Carrington and his crew was supurb; especially how they angled the downspout away from the house and into the evergreens.   And they did well in the clean up and hauling away of the debris. Minimal clean up on my part.

I contacted Carrington Roofing regarding a roof repair job that I noticed during a torrential downpour this past week.  Tristen from Carrington called me scheduled a estimate for the next day.  He was on time for the appointment which is always appreciated.  As I was explaining the issue for him he immediately knew that problem by just looking at the sides of the flat roof.  The previous roofer used the wrong flashing for the type of roof I need, (Flat roof for a dormer addition).  He mentioned that they would be able to install the new flashing and check for any additional repairs while installing the flashing.  2 days later his guys came out and were very professional and efficient. They explained to me the issues and showed me the new materials they would be installing so that i could see the differences.  They also repaired some minor tears along my vents and chimney at no additional costs.  I feel they were very professional and the price was very fair compared to other companies.  I would definitley recommend their services to anyone needing a roofing job in the future.

The only problem I had was that there were a couple of different things that need to be repaired but it is too cold to replace and fix things properly. I talked to the owner and he said he will get back to me when it is warmer. They were very punctual. I thought the quality was good.

They first gave us an estimate and then performed the service. They were very quick and very efficient. They got the job done fast and got out. They also did a good job cleaning up. All the interactions were professional. They are a moderate cost option. I assume they are not the best out there, but then they are also not the most expensive.

Carrington was very responsive to all questions regarding the job and the process they would use to install the new roof and deck. The team did an excellent job installing the new roof and deck. The work matched the description provided to us during the quote process. The structure appears to be "well wrapped" in the rubber roof material. Any concerns we had were addressed promptly. We are fairly picky customers and there were only a few minor questions we had about the finished job. The deck looks great. Our leaking issues appear to be resolved. Very happy with new deck. Good job to the team.

First tried to contact the provider via email though Angie's List. Didn't get a response so later called for an estimate to repair a leak from an exposed chimney pipe. Mr. Carrington came out on a Sunday to look over the job. I then called the following Wednesday to schedule the work. To my surprise we were able to schedule the work for the following day. Work was done quickly. It's raining as I type and no signs of a leak.

Carrington was terrific from start to finish. He is very knowledgeable about the specialty work that I needed done involving a very small roof that acted more like a basin to collect and drain the rainwater. This little section of roof was neglected by previous owners and all perforated with holes so when it rained, the water would leak into the building. Unlike many other roofers, Carrington suggested a fix that did not involve new construction. His crew was able to line this section of roof with a rubber liner and flashing. He also had to get a piece of metal cast to fit over the old drain and act as the new drain for this repair. We've had a couple of good rains and there is no water coming into the building from under this roof. The other part of the job involved adding new flashing with a drip edge to the garage roof which works great and keeps water from dripping down the soffit onto the brick walls of the garage. Carrington was very responsive in getting out to give an estimate for the jobs and to get the work done. His crew was very efficient and professional. I would definitely recommend Carrington to everyone I know and would use him again, especially for tough situations that other roofers don't want to handle without performing new construction.

Carrington was one of four bids we elicted and received. All four visited the site and provided written bids. Carrington provided the lowest bid but also appeared most knowledgable about the roofing needs of a Chicago six flat. He matched the warranty offered by the other bidders. Carrington attended a Board meeting and explained his plan to all the memebrs of the Association. Due to heavy rain, Carrington started a liitle later than planned and the job took a little longer. He kept us informed along the way of job progress. He asked us to approve extras before they were incurred. He was readily available via phone or e-mail to answer unit owner and Board questions. His crew did an excellent job of cleaning-up after they were completed. Overall an excellent experience.

The process moved quickly and efficiently from start to finish. I contacted the company and in very short order they had someone check out my roof. They provided an estimate over the phone and completed the work in the time we discussed. The actual job cost slightly more than we had discussed but nothing out of line or anything that caused any concern on my end. They clearly explained what they found while performing the actual work and what they did to solve the problem. All in all, I could not be more pleased.

THE SERVICEMAN WAS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HONEST. I FELT VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HIS FIRM DOING THE WORK. THE WORKERS WERE VERY EFFICIENT AND WOULD ALLOW MY HUSBAND TO VIEW THEIR WORK BEFORE MOVING ONTO OTHER STAGES.
