Mike was great to work with , it is reliable company that you can count on , highly recommended

Overall it went well with only a few negative issues. I have worked with Mike at Bucktown for several years. The work quality has remained very good but the overall cost structure has continued to increase. The best aspect of my projects with Bucktown has always been Mike's Project Manager known as Cook. He is extremely talented in all around construction, including hands-on work as a carpenter, installer, electrician and designer. Without Cook's total involvement in my renovation projects I would not continue to use Bucktown. My projects would not have gone as well or been worth the prices Bucktown charges without the full involvement of Cook. The other tradesmen that Mike uses did good work thanks to the supervision by Cook. If the needed workmen are not on Mike's revolving staff, then he is able to find the right subs to do the specific job. I do continue to recommend Bucktown but caution the client to be extremely detailed in a written description of the work and to monitor the progress with Mike as much as possible. Don't expect to get what you want unless you clearly document it in writing. Any changes or deviations to the initial contract will be very costly with Bucktown or any other provider.

Time for another review of Bucktown. I have used Mike and his people on several occasions over the last 6-8 years for everything from just painting to a complete apartment makeover.  This time it was a major gut renovation of a two-flat.  His team did not handle the plumbing, windows or HVAC.  I served as my own general contractor.  This work was done over a period of the last 18 months. On and off depending on when the project needed him and his various crew members.  Overall, I have nothing but praise for Mike, but especially for his main man, master carpenter and top electrician, Cook (aka Julio Ramirez).   Mike used a revolving door of painters, drywallers, carpenter assistants, etc., but Cook was on my project close to full-time.  His expertise, attention to detail and great work ethic make this project successful.  This mostly justified the huge cost for me because I believe you get what you pay for.  Good work is not cheap.
Mike was always responsive, cooperative and is the glue that keeps a crew together.  I know I can count on him when I need him next.

They came in on budget and in less time than originally expected.  The crew is both professional and personable....and they did such a great cleanup job that even my mother was impressed.  Can't recommend them enough and will certainly be calling for future projects!

I have used Bucktown Painting twice - once just for a complete repaint of my condo, and then again several years later to repaint new colors, wallpaper one room, and make some shelves.  Painting has always been good - people show up on time, get done on time.  No big issues.  No "mistakes" that are obvious or even noticeable (or that they didn't fix once I noted it). Wallpapering was done well despite a tough pattern to match up.  I had some built-in shelves that were a random thick, hollow, wood construction.  They did a really good of replicating them and installing them.  I was surprised how well they matched.  Overall I have always been pleased -would use them a third time.

We've hired Mike and his team several times and never once have been disappointed with their work. Mike personally oversees each project and goes above and beyond to ensure that we're thrilled, not just satisfied. He's a good, hardworking, honest person, which in this city can be like finding a needle in a haystack. I'm so glad I don't have to look any further to find a someone we can trust and also love the finished product. He doesn't try to oversell you, charges a fair price and gets the work done in a timely, professional manner. On top of it, he's a really nice guy who is simply a pleasure to deal with.

They were great to work with.  They were very prompt and professional.  Their estimate was right on.  I would definitely would recommend them to others.

This is the third time I have used Mike Coultier and his Bucktown remodeling services. This was by far, the biggest project that he did for me. Once again, it went well because Mike listens and understands what you want. He always followed through on what he said and brought in the subs that were needed for various stages in the project. He was available when needed and did a good job of communication during the project. His team and subs where efficient and met all schedules as agreed. He was patient and cooperative with my many project add-ons that were not in the contract. Original and add-on cost figures were fair and reasonable with no negative surprises. I will definitely use him and his people again.

One word of caution. I would advise future clients to work only with Mike and not expect as good an outcome if you communicate with his team members or subs, without keeping him in the loop.

They were competitive on pricing but I ended up going with a buddy of mine.

They did a good job. The owner was really friendly, nice, and focused on the customer. He always responded quickly to my inquiries.

This apartment is in a very old building and the plaster walls were badly cracked everywhere. The workmen did a great job over a two day period and the placed looked great. I had not promised the new tenant that I would have the place repainted and after she moved in, I found a nice thankyou note and bottle of wine outside my front door. That's how good a job done by Buck Town Painters.

The experience was good. The owner Mike Cloutier is wonderful to deal with. His workers were not of the highest quality, but Mike made it right.
