Overall, they did a really good job! The movers were on time and courteous. We had one item that ended up broken, which they offered to pay for.

Do not use BP movers unless you are willing to pay more than double the cost of the estimate and are willing to have a few items damaged along the way. The whole experience was a classic case of over promising and under delivering. Bill quoted my wife $850 and said it would take 3 of his movers at most 6 hours (18 man hours) to move our 3 bedroom condo (down from a 3rd floor walk up) 1.5 miles to our new single family home. Bill told my wife he would come by the morning of the move and never showed up. Bill told my wife he would have his guys take down the baby crib first and have it set up for our 2 year old?s afternoon nap. When the movers arrived they said they did not know how to dismantle or set up our crib and that I would have to do it. (Or it would take them a long time and cost me more money). The movers were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 and showed up at 8:30. After 20 minutes the lead guy says the job may take 10 hours (now 30 man hours). After 45 minutes the lead guy suggests I get him to hire a fourth man. After 2.5 hours I realize these guys are going to be working until 10:00 pm unless I got more help so I had one of my employees help from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. In addition I was moving heavy objects for about 5 hours of the day. Needless to say the guys did not finish until 7:30 pm and the $850 estimate turned into an invoice for approximately $1750.00. This figure did not included the 8 hours my employee worked moving and the five hours I spent moving heavy items and the extra 1.5-hour to dismantle and rebuild the crib. The 18 man-hours estimate turned into 55 hours in time. After being presented with the invoice I called Bill and wanted an explanation as to why his quote was off by over 100%. He said this never happens and then went on to blame the low quote on my 2 year old distracting him because a chair had fallen on him when he was doing the estimate. (He would not take any responsibility for his poor estimate.) The BP movers were grumbling how this happens ?all the time? and after reading Angies? list it seems this has been true for other clients. (I just wish I had read Angie?s list first). The movers left a 50 pound indoor potted plant on our front lawn and a door off the hinges to. They chipped the legs on our sofa, cracked the base of our 42? plasma, chipped the front legs of our armoire, and broke the switch of a light fixture. Needless to say I was very disappointed after the $1750 invoice (reduced to $1680 after removing material charges) and then I had to spend an hour reassembling my 2 year olds crib at 9:00 pm. I gave Bill over a month to try and reconcile the issue. He had the lamp fixed and a repair guy come over to patch our broken couch leg and armoire. He also indicated he would follow up but never did. Overall this was the worst moving experience I have encountered. It was a classic case of over promising to get the job and then under delivering to make more money. I?m convinced this is just part of his normal business practice.

Bill was very courteous and professional throughout the operation, and I actually think he's doing his best to run a good company, but he severely missed the mark on the estimate. The final price was fully twice the estimated price! We chose BP for two reasons: his references were good and his price estimate was great. So to get the large invoice at the end of the job was a huge shock. When I questioned Bill about it he said he was not trying to be deceptive or execute a bait-and-switch on us, but it was nevertheless hard to take. (The funny thing is we actually had two other movers estimate the job. BP had the lowest price, while another company had the highest price. he irony is that BP's final cost was extremely close to the other company's estimate. In hindsight I wish I had appreciated that other company's honesty and chosen them instead). I have to give Bill credit because he made an effort to appease the bad ending by sending one of his guys back to our house a few months later, to help us move a few large pieces of furniture at no charge. Unfortunately, in my opinion we're still not quite even yet.

I was very happy that nothing got lost or broken by this company. They were very friendly and professional. They got the move done very quickly. I was very happy with everything.

They did a terrible job on our move. They were 6 hours late, did not follow our guidelines for where to put things. They had poor attitudes in dealing with us. The workman were nice, despite working in terrible conditions. They worked really hard to get everything in the home, but had little regard for where they put it. An heirloom mirror was broken. He sent a guy three months later to take and repair the mirror. They never brought it back, and are impossible to get a hold of. I want my mirror frame back, they won't make good on our deal, and won't return our calls.

On the advice of a friend, we used B&P for our May 2005 move from downtown to Logan square. As someone who moved every two and a half years as a child (and has therefore seen a ton of movers), I can commend their work as nothing short of spectacular. They were prompt, professional and took great care with our belongings. I would recommend them to absolutely anyone.

This is the second time we've used B/P Movers and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Bill (the owner) is friendly and helpful and all of the guys on his crew for both of our moves were professional and very hard working!

Great local moving company in Chicago for your next home move. They came late because another move took longer than expected, but they quickly made up the time with speedy work.

OVERALL, THE CREW CONDUCTED THEMSELVES IN AN UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER AND WERE ROUGH HANDLING SOME ITEMS. I WAS ENCOURAGED TO GET A MORNING CREW BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE "FRESH," BUT THEY SHOWED UP EXHAUSTED AND WERE DAUNTED BY THE STAIRS AND THE AMOUNT OF BOXES. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE OFFICE STAFF WAS GENERALLY RESPONSIVE. I WAS PRETTY CLEAR WHEN I SPOKE TO THE ESTIMATOR ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF BOXES I HAVE, BUT THE CREW THAT SHOWED UP SAID THE JOB WAS REALLY MEANT FOR A LARGER CREW AND, INSTEAD OF GETTING MORE HELP, THEY PROCEEDED TO RECRUIT MY FRIEND. I ALSO ASKED THE ESTIMATOR SEVERAL TIMES IF THE QUOTE INCLUDED ALL WRAPPING. SHE SAID YES. BUT THE CREW SAID THE TAPE AND SHRINK WRAP WERE NOT INCLUDED. NONE OF THE FURNITURE OR MATTRESSES WERE WRAPPED. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE EARLY ARRIVING INITIALLY, THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT GAP IN THE TRAVEL TIME BETWEEN THE TWO LOCATIONS.
