Mike Roppo (owner) had the majority of the project expense when he left the job. He charged me in full for unfinished plumbing, installations that were incomplete and in some cases not started at all in addition to $40 cash which was change he would not return. Additionally he forced me to paint my entire place before the bathroom construction; tile, plumbing, carpentry trims and doors that need shaving....I guess because he knew he wasn't going to do the tile work I hired him for in the first place. I agreed to painting so that project could move forward against my better judgement after 5 weeks and my place in ruin ( he left less than a quarter of an inch in paint cans >wall and trims so had to buy more paint to finish project).... I felt like a hostage vs. a client. Week after week I asked when he would start the tile and week after week he looked me straight in the eye and lied (that is before he stopped communicating with me while project was in progress leaving me to manage his subs.) Having the bathroom construction materials in my home made it challenging for painters to move given personal boxes and bathroom construction materials etc (my space is small), that couldn't be unpacked because of unfinished work in other areas of my place. There was a handyman onsite throughout the project doing work I did not ask for and then was discretely charged for by Mike when he left project. So the upshot is I had $1,050 in repairs (damage to fireplace, bathtub, bed, plus drywall that he installed around tub surround that needed corners seamed and drywall treated for stone installation) plus the added project expense to have others come in and finish work which all up all in added another $3,550 to project cost. I have an expectation for quality work and to work with professionals. If quality work is what you are looking for and to work with an honorable contractor I would not do business with this company >they use laid off union workers who are better suited for commercial vs. residential projects and are not respectful of property.
