I chose Aabal because of the high Angieslist ratings, they took credit cards, and very important, they were local.(I live in the middle class African American neighborhood of Chatham
After living on the North Side, and seeing how much better service we get up there (from government, to private), I was disappointed to see that trend continue, especially with a company so highly rated. 4 Angieslist ratings, which were rated A, were
from around the business HQ, so that’s really confusing me.
So both our air conditioning and then our heat went out after a wild couple of weeks of hot weather followed by an extreme cold spell.
So I left a message through the Angieslist site as well leaving a phone message over the weekend.
I got a call on Monday at 8:51am, about an hour after they started work. They scheduled us for 2pm-4pm on Tuesday. That was later than I wanted, because I had 2 children and a sick wife that needed to be warm. (We were having a cold spell.) I didn’t mention that fact—maybe I could have gotten a sympathy action. But i went with it.
On Tuesday at 8am , I called to see if there were any openings earlier in the morning (in case of cancellations). They said they would mark it if that happened, but in the back of my mind, I doubted it.
So 2pm came. Nothing, I called at 2:56 PM They said they were running late, but I was the next one on the list after the current customer. Grr. OK. I will wait, and called my wife to delay (didn’t want the family being bothered). So then I call back at 4:30pm, waaaay past when they said they would come. The operator said he was just about to call me (yeah, right), and the tech wouldn’t
be there .
I had to call them at 4;30 and they said they couldn't come out till 7pm, but they would re schedule from 12-2pm, with our home as a priority.
Thanks guys – now I have to deal with a complaining and suffering wife! That really makes my life harder.
So the next day, I called at 12:30, and they claimed their tech was there at the office, and would arrive in 30 minutes.. and now, 1 FULL hour later...do i REALLY need to call them to remind them of the appointment they promised to make? Especially as I was supposed to be a priority?! I’m looking outside for them, and am tempted to kidnap the tech with the Chicagoland Heating and Cooling truck, who was helping a neighbor. But they came at 1:29PM.
The techs were polite, though they didn’t apologize for canceling yesterday, or being so late today (were they aware of what the call center said?). The professionalism grade was rated higher due to the techs
If you’re going to miss appointments, do it with a customer who already loves you, and would then be willing to give you slack for a one time mistake. Don’t blow off a NEW customer, and especially not TWICE!
Maybe I should have mentioned Angieslist for faster service?

I spoke to Michael at Aabal Heating Service. Michael, the owner, gave me a very good price for the removal and replacement of the steel radiators. He sent a nice guy out to measure the length x width x height of the room size for the correct size radiator replacement. On the installation day, two very strong and hardworking guys came out. After much hard work of cutting through the steel radiator valve, they removed the old radiator and install another much heavier and much larger radiator in this same spot. These guys were magnificent to watch. I witnessed old, heavy, hardened steel conquered by shear human muscle, a wrench, and know-how. The guys were great. They knew and did their jobs very well.
Over the years, I have called 6 different heating contractors to correct my past steam heating problem. Only Bob, at Aabal Heating, correctly diagnosed and repaired this major steam heating problem for me. Aabal Heating Service is the company to call when you have a heating problem.

You pay for what you get - don't waste your time or money with other HVAC Contractors! AABAL is professional, fast, knowledgeable and courteous. Highly recommended if you want the job done right the first time. Tom and Julius were a pleasure to work with making the experience feel seamless, they know exactly what they are doing. Work was done on time and on budget - what more can I say? Diane

They came out with some equipment and did some diagnostics on my furnace and ordered a part to replace.  When they came back and advised I purchase a whole new furnace.  I'm fortunate that the financing did not work out because I found out that the smell was not caused by my furnace.

I found that when my Febreeze Apple plug-in air freshener ran out, the smell went away.  So they advised I purchase a new furnace when I didn't need one.

Bill came to do the inspection. I felt fine about the whole experience. I also asked him for an estimate on a new boiler since mine is 20 years old, and it went well. I'm not getting it yet, but I appreciated his professionalism. They were prompt and get back to me quickly. They gave me tips on what to do as well. I am going to use him again for sure.

*Update* I was happy with them, but recently found that another leak is going to happen. They found out about this on 11/6. The owner came out to give me an estimate on a new boiler this day, and he said that they needed to tighten this up. Our appointment is scheduled for 11/19, but that is just to long since they've known it since 11/6. I was planning on using them to install a new boiler when I was ready, but now I'm thinking I may go elsewhere.

The process was very smooth; no problems whatsoever. Several years ago Aabal Heating and Cooling lined my chimney. They did excellent work then, and they are still doing excellent work.

They fixed everything. They gave me the option; they said that it is something that was going to happen but they could not tell me when, it was one of those things that go on and just one day it would not work. Since this was the air conditioning unit, I just wanted to go ahead and replace the part, which was not much. Their price was very reasonable. The quality of their work and their responsiveness, all was fine. He explained a lot of things to me. I had other questions about air conditioning as far as how to store for the winter and some other things, and he told me somethings that I did need to do with it. I was very pleased with the price.

They come every year and they had installed my boiler. My parents had also used them before me. They usually come during August to get it ready for the winter. They clean up after themselves. I have been using them for over thirty years and my parents used them before when I was a child. I have also recommended them to my friends as well.

I called the company July 23, 2011 for an estimate. The salesman arrived and gave the the quote. The quote was a little high, but I had did business with this company in the past; therefore, I decided to let them do the work. I called the following day and scheduled an appointment for the installation. The install date was 7/27/11. They arrived on times and completed the job in a timely manner. They removed the old furnce and all debris. The installers were wonderful.

The installation was not a problem. That evening the heat came on and it was so loud it scared me, I called because I had never heard anything like the noise it made. I was told that I would have to wait until the following morning and someone would call. I slept on pins and needles all evening thinking the furnace would blow up, and I am not kidding. Someone called about 8:30am and they came out around 11:00am and told me that that is just how they sound. I though, "oh well, another piece of crap I bought." Yesterday it was hot in the house so I put on the new air. The temperature nev er reached the temperature I set on the thermostat, and it has been running for over 12 hours now. It has not shut off, and now it is five degrees above the temperature I set on the thermostat. I tried to call Aabal last night around 7:30pm on the EMERGENCY 24 HOUR NUMBER. No one answered the phone last night and it is 81 degrees in my house, and I have been trying to reach someone from Aabal since 8:00am. Still no answer, no option to leave message. Seems like fan is working but I am not getting air. Do not make the same mistake I did! When they came out to give estimate they bad-mouthed the company I was going to have do the work, the other company did not bad-mouth anyone else. My air conditioning is not working and I cannot reach anyone. My unit is not even one week old. Poor quality!!!! WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
