After living on the North Side, and seeing how much better service we get up there (from government, to private), I was disappointed to see that trend continue, especially with a company so highly rated. 4 Angieslist ratings, which were rated A, were
from around the business HQ, so that’s really confusing me.
So both our air conditioning and then our heat went out after a wild couple of weeks of hot weather followed by an extreme cold spell.
So I left a message through the Angieslist site as well leaving a phone message over the weekend.
I got a call on Monday at 8:51am, about an hour after they started work. They scheduled us for 2pm-4pm on Tuesday. That was later than I wanted, because I had 2 children and a sick wife that needed to be warm. (We were having a cold spell.) I didn’t mention that fact—maybe I could have gotten a sympathy action. But i went with it.
On Tuesday at 8am , I called to see if there were any openings earlier in the morning (in case of cancellations). They said they would mark it if that happened, but in the back of my mind, I doubted it.
So 2pm came. Nothing, I called at 2:56 PM They said they were running late, but I was the next one on the list after the current customer. Grr. OK. I will wait, and called my wife to delay (didn’t want the family being bothered). So then I call back at 4:30pm, waaaay past when they said they would come. The operator said he was just about to call me (yeah, right), and the tech wouldn’t
be there .
I had to call them at 4;30 and they said they couldn't come out till 7pm, but they would re schedule from 12-2pm, with our home as a priority.
Thanks guys – now I have to deal with a complaining and suffering wife! That really makes my life harder.
So the next day, I called at 12:30, and they claimed their tech was there at the office, and would arrive in 30 minutes.. and now, 1 FULL hour later...do i REALLY need to call them to remind them of the appointment they promised to make? Especially as I was supposed to be a priority?! I’m looking outside for them, and am tempted to kidnap the tech with the Chicagoland Heating and Cooling truck, who was helping a neighbor. But they came at 1:29PM.
The techs were polite, though they didn’t apologize for canceling yesterday, or being so late today (were they aware of what the call center said?). The professionalism grade was rated higher due to the techs
If you’re going to miss appointments, do it with a customer who already loves you, and would then be willing to give you slack for a one time mistake. Don’t blow off a NEW customer, and especially not TWICE!
Maybe I should have mentioned Angieslist for faster service?
Over the years, I have called 6 different heating contractors to correct my past steam heating problem. Only Bob, at Aabal Heating, correctly diagnosed and repaired this major steam heating problem for me. Aabal Heating Service is the company to call when you have a heating problem.
I found that when my Febreeze Apple plug-in air freshener ran out, the smell went away. So they advised I purchase a new furnace when I didn't need one.
*Update* I was happy with them, but recently found that another leak is going to happen. They found out about this on 11/6. The owner came out to give me an estimate on a new boiler this day, and he said that they needed to tighten this up. Our appointment is scheduled for 11/19, but that is just to long since they've known it since 11/6. I was planning on using them to install a new boiler when I was ready, but now I'm thinking I may go elsewhere.
