Interior Painting
THEY INITIALLY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE DONE IN 3 DAYS, IT TOOK 3 WEEKS. I TOOK EVERYTHING OFF THE WALLS AND MOVED THINGS TO THE CENTER OF THE ROOM AS THEY HAD ASKED. WHEN I CAME HOME, THEY HAD PUT FOOT PRINTS ALL OVER MY COUCH, HAD PAINT ON MY TUXEDO AND BLACK SUIT, AND HAD BROKEN THE GLASS OF A DISPLAY FRAME. THEY DID CLEAN MY CLOTHES AND REPLACED THE GLASS AND THE FRAME, BUT THE WORK WAS NEVER UP TO PAR. AT THE END OF IT ALL, AFTER POINTING OUT MANY PROBLEMS, I AGREED TO JUST GET THEM OUT OF MY HOUSE AS OPPOSED TO LETTING IT DRAG ON. THEY KEPT MY SUIT AND TUX UNTIL I AGREED TO LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. HE GAVE ME A LOT OF EXCUSES AND BULL, AND TRIED TO MAKE ME FEEL BAD FOR WANTING A GOOD JOB DONE. IT WAS A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE AND I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

"THIS CUSTOMER''S SERVICES WERE PROVIDED BY A NEW EMPLOYEE WHO HAS SINCE BEEN LET GO. WE MADE EVERY ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION IN A PLEASANT MANNER, YET THE CUSTOMER WOULD AGREE TO NOTHING. THE COMMENT ABOUT THE DRY CLEANED ITEMS IS FALSE. THE CUSTOMER WANTED THEM DELIVERED TO HIS DOOR, NOT ALL TOGETHER AN UNREASONABLE REQUEST, BUT TO NEGLECT OTHER CUSTOMERS TO DELIVER A SUIT IS NOT SOMETHING WE WOULD DO. AS TO THE LENGTH OF TIME, THE LAW STATES A PAINT JOB MUST BE PRESENTABLE FROM A CERTAIN DISTANCE. THIS CUSTOMER WAS LOOKING AT THE WALLS FROM 6" AWAY AND LEAVING POST-IT NOTES FOR THE ERRORS TO BE FIXED. WE, OF COURSE, ATTEMPTED TO PLEASE HIM, BUT TO NO AVAIL. TO OUR FUTURE CUSTOMERS - WE ASSURE YOU THIS IS NOT A COMMON HAPPENING AS EASILY REFERENCED BY OUR BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU RATING. TO THE CUSTOMER - AGAIN, WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVIENIENCE AND EXTEND AGAIN A 25% OFF COUPON FOR ANY FUTURE SERVICES. THANK YOU - A-1 FAMILY CONTRACTORS INC."

A-1'S INITIAL RESPONSIVENESS WAS VERY GOOD. IN REVIEWING THE SITUATION, DEVELOPING THE PLAN, PROVIDING A BID, AND DOING THE WORK ON AN AGGRESSIVE TIME SCHEDULE, AND OFFERING A LOT OF HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS THE RESULTS WERE EXCELLENT. PRICE WAS 20% HIGHER THAN ANOTHER BID, BUT COMPANY WAS AVAILABLE TO DO THE WORK WHEN NEEDED. HOWEVER, WORKERS DAMAGED A HAND TRUCK BELONGING TO THE BUILDING AND DID MINOR DAMAGE TO THE APARTMENT ENTRY DOOR. CORRECTION OF THESE PROBLEMS DID NOT OCCUR AS PROMISED, AND PHONE CALLS WERE NOT RETURNED UNTIL A DEMANDING LETTER WAS FAXED TO THE OFFICE. THE PROBLEMS WERE THEN TAKEN CARE OF WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE COMPANY'S REPRESENTATIVE APOLOGIZED FOR LACK OF FOLLOW-THROUGH DURING HIS ABSENCE. HOWEVER HE ALSO SAID THAT THEY HAD UP TO A YEAR TO FINISH THE JOB, DESPITE SPECIFIC TIME LINES IN THE CONTRACT. THIS ATTITUDE IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND IS THE REASON I WOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE COMPANY AGAIN.

"THIS CUSTOMER CONTACTED ME IN A DISTRESSED SITUATION. HE HAD PURCHASED A NEW CONDO AND NEEDED THE WORK COMPLETED BEFORE MOVING IN. HE WAS CLOSING THE FOLLOWING WEEK, AND WE HAD FROM 2:30PM ON TUESDAY TO NOON ON THURSDAY TO COMPLETE ALL WORK. AT THE TIME, WE HAD A 3 WEEK WAITING PERIOD FOR ANY WORK; HOWEVER, I CONTACTED OUR CURRENT CUSTOMER AND MADE ARRANGEMENTS AND CONCESSIONS WITH/TO THEM (THUS, THE 20% DIFFERENCE IN PRICE). WE COMPLETED THE WORK, WHICH WAS PROBLEMATIC DUE TO POOR BUILDING MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION, WITH TIME TO SPARE. I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DAMAGE THE SAME DAY. I INFORMED THE CUSTOMER THAT THE SCRATCH ON HIS DOOR WAS NOT PREVENTING OR HARMING ANYTHING, AND I HAD OTHER CUSTOMERS TO ATTEND TO FIRST, AND WE WOULD FIX THE DOOR TO HIS SATIFACTION WITHIN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE FOLLOWING WEEK AN UNGRATEFUL AND THREATENING LETTER WAS RECEIVED THREATENING TO HOLD BACK FINAL PAYMENT, WHICH I HAD NOT ASKED FOR. I FIXED THE DOOR AND ASKED HIM NEVER TO CALL AGAIN."

A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. THEY FIRST DIAGNOSED A LEAK AS BEING CAUSED BY OUR DORMER AND CHIMNEY, WHICH THEY DID EXTENSIVE WORK, AND THEN LATER BY OUR TUB. VERY POOR QUALITY OF WORK, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND AN EMPLOYEE INDEPENDENTLY CONTRACTED ADDITIONAL WORK THAT BECAME A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE.
